Sad to see a troll with no better a user name than nincompoop to write some garbage like that derail the conversation. A true beacon of hypocrisy sitting there on their computer pointing the finger instead of doing something instead of only talking about it down to others on a gaming news forum. You're pathetic.
Charity is not really the solution education is better? So what's the lesson learned here? Tough, your stuff got stolen man up? That he lives in a first world country so stop meowing and whining as he doesn't deserve it? I don't see much lesson here other than you missed the lesson and the point. Righting the wrong caused by a thief is the lesson here, nothing more or less as this isn't some political conspiracy theory.
WiiU sucked in design and even more so in implementation since they decided to basically tell third parties to suck it at many levels.
The sales in and out of the home land is more than proof of that as much if not more so by how many people are jumping on board that ignored Nintendo for years if not console generations.
Time for the last hanger on types in denial over that turd to step up or move along. Salvage what little good the WiiU had, put those games exclusively on Switch so a real base can enjoy it right.
The old game clearly outside of the eyes of the most die hard of series fanboys was getting boring and long in the tooth turned into a sad drawn out slightly changed up endless re-run.
BotW is fresh, this is needed to survive going forward style and all.
I would remove the quickly breaking weapons though.
I'm not going to even address your ludicrous non-response other than dumping on two full decades of gaming. I'll just point out it appears that's the best come back you could muster to reply to something from two months ago (middle of October) and leave it at that.
Aww boo hoo hoo. Japan realizing their market share is a drop in the bucket to the english speaking world. Not quite a cash grab, annoying maybe, but a logical stunt not having to make two builds.
@molliolli182 Yeah the Famicom Disk System Super Mario Bros 2 (aka Lost Levels) introduced both the deadly mushroom trickery and the random wind blowing effects too. The price on it shouldn't be a concern unless you felt that Mario Bros ACA was too much as there should be no reason to cost anything more than that one did.
In the end VS SMB is not SMB1, but it apes a lot of the design making somewhat new stages out of every single level. If you try and play it from memory you're dead as it's a new experience.
I stand on my old post going off if this were real. But to be clear, I believe there's a 50/50 chance it was a bs PR stunt to tease the internet and stir up a response as I want to doubt someone would be that effing stupid to snap pics as an employee in an R&D area and think they'd get away with it.
I don't buy the #38 on a priority list. Sure, being the first company to put out a N64 clone, and yet a portable one at that being more than three dozen ticks down the priority list makes zero sense.
Hopefully the guy not only gets fired but blackballed. That basically was standard for violating company trust when I was in a decade and a half ago. You leak, it gets around and no one hires you in the field again because you're an idiotic liability with no self control.
On the up side, it's real, good to see the chinese are deep into making a N64 clone that works. Hyperkin blows as they produce nothing, they just take chinese shovelware devices and put their brand on it.
@molliolli182 Trust me you haven't seen it. Watch the clip in this piece as it covers all the levels. The lay outs are dramatically changed, greatly even more so in the dungeon castles making them nasty. I don't recall the game having cheapo wind blown deaths and lame poison mushrooms but it's worth not ignoring if you want basically a new SMB game in the original style.
I wouldn't call it a lot of added difficulty, that's what the nasty SMB2j is for. This one just mixes things up for the most part but is consistent in challenge. I'm all in if we don't get screwed out of it as it's not confirmed out of Japan.
All I see here is a trend, perhaps 2K doesn't deserve support from Switch owners if this is the normal for them releasing very broken games that need a meaty patch or two just to function correctly. They seem to feel it's ok to scam people buying broken crap at retail.
Novel idea here, but how about releasing all the versions at the same time? You do want the game to do the best on all formats right? Not just the ones out where others suffer due to impatience?
I'm really starting to respect Square again. FF is so awful it hurts, but you have Setsuna, Lost Sphear, other promises, now this out of nowhere. They seem to have finally begun to care a bit again not to just release wonky filler and garbage while leaving the goodies elsewhere perhaps.
@dimi Maybe, maybe not, you have to go where people buy stuff of you're done. And why did you list a bunch of non-exclusives so sony would be ok? GTA and COD are on PC and many others. God of War, Uncharted, Sly, Jak, stuff like that are their unique things.
Oh my, not crap, from retrobit no less. And Super Dodgeball arcade?!?! I may not be able to resist this. I want to see that in action. I haven't touched the arcade game of that in I can't remember how long now (1990 maybe.)
@roadrunner343 I don't know. I have zero interest that sketchy company console as it since the original has offered me nothing of personal value I couldn't get on my computer. I just followed Nintendo, then later Sony with Sega dead and both them have things you can't get elsewhere giving them value. I have a disused PS4 though now seeing that their IP this go around has bored me and the good stuff was on my PC too which outperforms a PS4.
It wouldn't surprise me if MS did that thought. They can stake a claim placing their games on PC/Laptops, and if the surface devices step enough on there too since they run Windows 10 too. That would be their mobile mode using a wireless xbox controller.
@roadrunner343 Not all but most. When it first came out the XB1 was going ha-ha over Titanfall, which they conveniently didn't mention came out same time on PC and looked/played better given more capable hardware there. Historically much of what XB got also hit Windows PCs from their own few franchises, not all, but most. They dilute their own value in their system as long as you have a decent computer made within a few years of the system they are pitching with the dual releases.
The Switch is likely to cause a dramatic shift in the next few years. MS is all about power and pushing reality with their small stable of exclusives that don't also hit the PC. Sony though they're more like Nintendo with a lot of good games that their people and second parties make. They're now seeing that console gaming is getting pushed out as more people go mobile, but people also want that mobility to not just be some touch play nightmare either or wonky tacked on controllers with me-too bluetooth service.
Nintendo provides that. Do not be surprised if they make their own mobile chipset hybrid in the future instead of a straight up system. They don't want to lose, but lose they will and the Japanese market to a Japanese company comes first and Nintendo go that and it worked but they also worked it to appeal elsewhere. Sony right now isn't appealing at home so well, but do elsewhere and they need both to be in a long term better space. Imagine a world where MS pushes it too far with pricey boxes and Nintendo/Sony get most the game ports between their hardware and have the best line-ups.
I see two outcomes. Sony ignores it knowing they're not in the same market space. Or two, they ignore microsoft and move towards acknowledging that power isn't everything and in an increasingly mobile world they need to make/find their own chipset to mimic what Nintendo is doing with a dockable handheld/console hybrid.
They know they can not win on their own merits with a dedicated handheld (twice now, not like they tried on Vita though.) They also have to pander to their market and Japanese aren't sit at home console kids at a slowly increasing rate. They face screwing with MS in a dying front, or they face competing with Nintendo in the mobile that TV docks hybrid market where Nintendo basically has been god amongst game hardware/software makers since 1989.
At least on the handheld side they'd have a good run because they have developer love and unlike the boobs at MS they have a long stable of strong 1st/2nd party franchises they can tap into that don't truly require pushing the uncanny valley of realism to be fun.
Doesn't work for me. They went from physical into rental property territory and then command that price. Not a chance.
Just last week this game was 50% off on GoG.com at $20 and you get a real copy of the game there to burn/backup however you like. NO reason to pay up at all unless you want to reward delays and excuses, then retractions.
Well had it been on SNES it would have controlled a whole hell of a lot less annoyingly and without jarring equally annoying camera angles that messed with lousy tank controls.
That said, splitting hairs but it kind of got its start as Sweet Home on the Famicom anyway.
@McHaggis Probably, wouldn't be a first kind of, remember the Philips CDI and the notorious Hotel Mario and 3 Zelda titles? They've let their IP be on another system before long ago as a deal with a hardware maker.
@MarcelRguez Really? The motion controls were hot garbage. I couldn't do much with them since it never liked to really keep up with the moves, hence why wii motion plus happened. 99% of the time I had on Punchout was using buttons.
And why are we worrying about motion control, the Joycons are like Wii mote+nunchuk 2.0 anyway.
And me here with my Shield tablet, seems I'll be able to play these some way. Your move Nintendo.
@Damo That's good, so maybe they decided to find a better chip supplier since they don't do their stuff in house. A couple years ago I had a friend on the inside who was the firmware (game/os) coder on the R5 and we'd talk quite a lot. It was interesting to say the least.
Glad I have an Everdrive GB as this looks like it could be fun, but for as limited as the demo video makes it appear I don't think I could pop for that.
Looks like it's already scalped, all 75 are gone. 30euro to what 100? Watch ebay. Game scalpers are some of the most predictable and worst.
Umm since this is their licensed garbage on a chip tech and not android/emulator why are we skating over compatibility in the review that much? Those things were notoriously garbage in their Supaboy and other lines for not being stable when it came to chipped games. SA1 more often than not won't boot. SDD1 depending on revision will or won't. FX1 and FX2 are sketchy with time outs of fails on enough of the games. Perhaps amend the review covering the popular special chips capabilities (SDD1, SA1, FX1, FX2, C4, the works.)
So Capcom better late than never is righting some wrongs eh? MML1 was chunky, so that should be fixed. MML2 got screwed out of despite the superior sales of the 3DS release, so that's fixed. And then MM11 as well eh? Total Mega Man (classic numbered) compilation back on Nintendo start to finish. Physical though??
@Nincompoop I'm with BensonUii as he's right. If you have that much first world guilt maybe it's best to go elsewhere than a video game news site to handle it?
@SimplyCinnamon53 You're partly right, it depends on the hospital. The two big ones in town here, if you show hardship having insurance or not they'll write it all off for 6-12mo. The other says if you have any insurance, zero discount and you must pay it off in 2 years or less or they'll sue you and/or go to collections because they're crooks.
I'd buy the Wonderboy mystery and also Umihara Kawase, but being that it's LRG that has me very concerned due to their scummy sales minimalist tactics rife for scalpers to have their way with it.
They need to man up and follow Nicalis as a lead with a limited starting run with goodies, and as it falls through completion setup another run without the added junk so people who want to play have every opportunity to get it from them and not pond scum.
@Malcrash And because EA is tied to it, and they've shown their true colors in the UK market already I'm ignoring it as if it doesn't even exist. When they decide to grow up and not sabotage their own releases so they can fire off their canned excuses on the back end then I'll think otherwise.
@OorWullie No I got my start with a nice cash+trade deal in May of 2016. $500+Dragon Warrior 4 w/tokuguma english guide and I got a 2 slot MVS and 9 legit games + the 161in1 along with some kit contents and mini marquees. All original stuff, no conversions, low use too. Since then I've done bundles, ebay luck cheap scoops, and a few on forums too paying usually 20%-50% under going rates. I'm around 30 games for it. Originally sought out favorites from the era that aren't on the 161, then dug into some on it after that. See for yourself: http://tanooki.byethost16.com/neogeo.html
@OorWullie Solid game too. I've collected what are considered the 5 'platformer' games for the system. Not really sure I entirely agree given that Cyber Lip is thought of one but Metal Slug somehow isn't. I was told Top Hunter, Blue's Journey, Spinmaster, Cyber Lip and Magician Lord are the so called set. I've got them on MVS along with the first two Metal Slug games.
Umm there's a less crappier version of this that's dangerously close to the real deal. HDMI, Wii controller port jacks, 1.1:1 close build quality to the original. Main problem, buggy firmware/menu causes some hiccups. Mind you it has the 30 games the US/EU version has, but it was going for trying to copy the original down to the box and packing materials.
Top Hunter is a truly fantastic platformer for the system, perhaps the best. True quality design, even has a hint of Wario Land from the Virtual Boy because you can go between 2 planes of play and attack/evade through them too. Varying interesting worlds, fun enough attacks, interesting mecha to even swindle your way into to turn on the enemy, and fairly interesting/fun bosses too. A fool would ignore this unless you hate the genre. I liked it so much I have the game and kit contents (minus box and bubble bag) for this on my arcade cabinet.
Yet another poor attempt like RIME where you take a game and find the most inconceivably stupid ways to foul up something as much as possible so that the frame rate is unplayable and much around it doesn't inspire you to bother unless it really really well matches your taste. Fools. Learn fast, shovelware doesn't fly especially on Nintendo stuff. Budget games can move mountains for small developers as others have shown, but this one deserves a mountain dropped on it instead burying it for all time.
Too little too late especially since physical appears to have been written off. I'll snap it up for PC on GoG, download it, use and archive it if I find time to bother at this point. One too many times moving the goal post for my liking.
Well with them cheaping out almost all around, more of a slap with the RER2 only download in the US I decided not to buy it. The fact the size of it eats up 20% of a 128GB memory card is annoying. They could have very well stepped up with a larger cart size and done some better compression too given other company teams efforts on that front. The way it is now you're looking at game + memory card to own and that's too steep when you can get it far cheaper (and if you have a laptop mobile too) on PC.
Butterface model has less than butter smooth rant on facebook about the nature of the game going back to 2001 that's now entirely optionally monetized. Boo hoo.
@DragonEleven Very unlucky with this game. I've had multiples that haven't shown up still even from Gen1. It took me until maybe 2mo ago to even get a porygon for one example. I was a bit out around my county and the one east of here yesterday and nothing but the one. I'll try more later today.
I think they're onto something but it needs at least 18-24mo to be certain. The key thing is that it's not a console and not a handheld, it's both. It creates a funky unique value to the system so that people will be happy to double dip to take a typically home experience that isn't compromised away from the TV. With people who have snubbed Nintendo entirely or mostly since as far back as the SNES through GC era since last true fair support doing games now it's a unique space to be within.

Here we are now, 0 GB, 1 NES, and 3 SNES for $35 each. NO thanks.

@molliolli182 Yeah the Famicom Disk System Super Mario Bros 2 (aka Lost Levels) introduced both the deadly mushroom trickery and the random wind blowing effects too.
Re: Top Hunter Is Your Next Neo Geo ACA Release On Switch
@OorWullie Solid game too. I've collected what are considered the 5 'platformer' games for the system. Not really sure I entirely agree given that Cyber Lip is thought of one but Metal Slug somehow isn't. I was told Top Hunter, Blue's Journey, Spinmaster, Cyber Lip and Magician Lord are the so called set. I've got them on MVS along with the first two Metal Slug games.
Re: Random: You've Seen The NES Classic, Now Check Out The CoolBaby HDMI HD Video Game
Re: Top Hunter Is Your Next Neo Geo ACA Release On Switch
Top Hunter is a truly fantastic platformer for the system, perhaps the best. True quality design, even has a hint of Wario Land from the Virtual Boy because you can go between 2 planes of play and attack/evade through them too. Varying interesting worlds, fun enough attacks, interesting mecha to even swindle your way into to turn on the enemy, and fairly interesting/fun bosses too. A fool would ignore this unless you hate the genre. I liked it so much I have the game and kit contents (minus box and bubble bag) for this on my arcade cabinet.
Re: Review: Ginger: Beyond the Crystal (Switch)
Yet another poor attempt like RIME where you take a game and find the most inconceivably stupid ways to foul up something as much as possible so that the frame rate is unplayable and much around it doesn't inspire you to bother unless it really really well matches your taste. Fools. Learn fast, shovelware doesn't fly especially on Nintendo stuff. Budget games can move mountains for small developers as others have shown, but this one deserves a mountain dropped on it instead burying it for all time.
Re: Deals: Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games And Accessories For December
I can't seem to get an answer, but is Stern Pinball a physical release AND releasing in the US? Or will I have to import it?
Re: Feature: Yooka-Laylee Jumps Onto Switch in December - We Learn All About It
Too little too late especially since physical appears to have been written off. I'll snap it up for PC on GoG, download it, use and archive it if I find time to bother at this point. One too many times moving the goal post for my liking.
Re: Weirdness: When The Masses Get Hold of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, Strange Things Happen
I saw one with just Nook stuck in a body sized jail. Seemed appropriate for all those theft level prices on his services over the years.
Re: Review: Resident Evil Revelations Collection (Switch)
Well with them cheaping out almost all around, more of a slap with the RER2 only download in the US I decided not to buy it. The fact the size of it eats up 20% of a 128GB memory card is annoying. They could have very well stepped up with a larger cart size and done some better compression too given other company teams efforts on that front. The way it is now you're looking at game + memory card to own and that's too steep when you can get it far cheaper (and if you have a laptop mobile too) on PC.
Re: Deals: Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games And Accessories For December
Is that Stern Pinball an actual physical release?! And is that UK only so it needs to be imported?
Re: Random: Model Chrissy Teigen Rants About Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp's "Jerks"
Butterface model has less than butter smooth rant on facebook about the nature of the game going back to 2001 that's now entirely optionally monetized. Boo hoo.
Re: Pokémon GO Global Catch Challenge Ends In Success
@DragonEleven Very unlucky with this game. I've had multiples that haven't shown up still even from Gen1. It took me until maybe 2mo ago to even get a porygon for one example. I was a bit out around my county and the one east of here yesterday and nothing but the one. I'll try more later today.
Re: Switch On Track To Exceed 10 Month Wii Sales By 20 Percent, Says NPD Analyst
