Guess what? Nintendo just pushed a new firmware update out for the good old Nintendo 3DS.
Double guess what? All it does is make the system more stable, and - as you'll know if you've been following the exciting business of 3DS firmware updates over the years - it was pretty darned stable already.
Version number 11.11.0-43's patch notes are (drum roll, please) as follows:
Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience
Are you feeling the stability? Or did you put aside your 3DS months ago? Let us know with a comment.

I’m feeling more stable!!! 😏
It just only more stable.
But not making Region Free by legally from Nintendo.
This is not Satoru Iwata era anymore.
Region Lock must be ended.
Gimme your best stability jokes.
@Anti-Matter I completely agree. But how would that come about?? A patch of some kind?? What about sd card saves as well. I guess I’m trying to figure out the procedure.
3DS was launched region locked after all.
@Anti-Matter At this rate, probably not worth the effort on Nintendo's part. We already had the news earlier that we can't use our credit cards on the actual system unless through the website or a top up card/code.
While there are plenty of still active 3DS users, its still on its way out. It's ultimately what Nintendo wants, for us all to move onto the Switch where all the new games are at. They tried keeping it alive the past 2 years but their last games have not sold all that well at all.
I have to agree with @Anti-Matter that they should just go ahead and make the 3DS region free at this point. I don't know much but I've never heard of any hardware based region locking on the system. As far as I know it's just software based. And if hackers can break the software issue, I don't see any reason for Nintendo to cling to it. Especially with the 3DS largely done with new releases at this point.
"- Removed a bug that allowed users to make purchases with a credit card."
The 3DS has worked hard for the last 9 years, set it free from the stable Nintendo. Let it run wild into the homebrew forest.
Oh man, what a dream come true.
@nintendolie
Exactly. This is beyond believable. Even after it's dead they still want to avoid it being modded lol.
Whenever I get motion sickness I just grab my 3DS and feel better eventually.
That stability is a blessing.
I guess it still gets software updates, now firmware too. Clearly until it's truly off the shelf in all forms they want to hammer away at piracy concerns. I can't blame them, but at this point it seems bordering on spiteful and pathetic.
Let's face it, the 3DS will never die because it's so stable it's immortal now.
Hey gaming media, stop with the stability jokes and do your job. Ask Nintendo what the updates actually do and don't take 'no comment' for an answer.
God wishes he could be as stable as a 3DS.
The 3DS is so stable it outlived its own library.
Just kill the 3DS already
But hold a tick...if there's no source to back this up like there should be, then this is false information. Move along now, nothing to see here.
Nintendo: Our 3DS sales are dropping! Clearly, it's not because people are replacing it with the new Switch, it's because of piracy! We MUST change the firmware so our games can no longer be pirated, that'll increase sales of the 3DS!!
So we won't get the 3DS 11.11.0-43U. right?
Same boring firmware notes as Sony..
PS3, PS4 and VITA..They all got like 100 stability firmwares each.
Strong and stable.
I thought we were talking about... what's a 3DS?
Is it like a 2DS but with an extra D?
yes removing the credit card option little by little
this one's only for Europe, so it's most likely to remove credit card support.
When is the Wii U getting a stability update?
Can someone please sort out the blue 3DS shown in the picture. Please make some folders and sort out the menu, there is too much stuff on the front page!!! (OCD freak out)
Just stability, huh? Why not remove the Miiverse icon? It used to not be there. All it does now is tell you the service is discontinued and waste your time if you try to use it.
Between the credit card change and this fw update, I wonder if there was a vulnerability in the payment schtuff.
I mingle with the gods
I mingle with stability
Blood sugar baby
I still play on my 3DS. Thinking about playing Pandora's Box later haven't played that game in ages. I'll update it then.
I never understood the whole 'stability to prevent hackers' thing. Most of these updates either don't affect the current hacking process or are easily bypassed within a week (PS Vita's latest update was demolished in a day!). Even if the update cannot be bypassed, most modders are not idiots and have disabled updates, so this is literally pointless.
But what's inside the unopened package on the 3DS on the right side of that picture, HUH???
@Scott_PdP That would be because of the change in payments for the EU... And not vulnerability but new regulation around online payments. So at last at eu it is now like necessity...
Nobody asks if it removes the Miiverse icon?
@BlueOcean Gaming media doesn't ask anything, they just report what Nintendo tells them like good little marketers.
@Crono1973 True.
Maybe now it will stop tipping over.
Just tried on the N3DSXL no new firmware update...
@PBandSmelly you do I know hombrew isnt about piracy right? I have mine modded and use it for emulators for old games. And custom themes of course
When something is damn near perfect, there isn't much to add to it.
The only question that really matters: will this have any affect on installing or using Luma 3DS and other customization/modding software?
