Nintendo's Mario Kart Tour website has revealed the upcoming mobile game will be receiving a closed beta test on Android devices. This test period will run from 22nd May to 4th June in both North America and Japan.
The website is currently accepting closed beta test participant applications until 7th May. The test is being held to improve the quality of the game prior to its official launch. If the number of applicants happens to exceed the possible number of participants, the selection of participants will be randomised:
The closed beta test is a test of an application under development and is held for customers in order to improve the quality of the game. Furthermore, the number of customers who may participate in this test is limited. If the number of applications exceeds the number of possible participants, we will randomly select the participants.
Below are the finer details:

Are you looking forward to the very first Mario Kart game on a mobile device? Will you be signing up to participate in this closed beta? Tell us down in the comments.

Wonder which devices it will support.
A Hotel Mario Mobile game would be so popular it would crash the Google Play for the rest of time.
Mario Kart Tour...Meh, maybe if my Switch, 3ds, and ODroid-Go all break I will consider DL'ing it.
Android? Alright.
Horizon Chase Turbo is a blast on mobile, gives me hope
Well that's unfortunate. I tried to sign up for the beta, but it seems there is one more little gotcha that they are a bit picky on...your email used for your Nintendo account and Play store account must be the same (which mine is), AND they won't accept any email except a Gmail. That sucks.
I have a Gmail, but it's a school one and really not worth it to me to go through all those hoops to change both my play store email and my Nintendo one just for a demo. Ah well, was worth a shot.
All right! ^.^
Wait!!!
Only Japan and United States!
oh... well....
A beta for a game we know nothing about...
@Joeynator3000 That's typically how closed betas go.
Signed up but not getting my hopes up
@DonSerrot Ummm, usually we'd have info like a trailer and stuff by now...
@gloom Super Mario Run was an Apple exclusive for several months, so I think it's a pretty fair tradeoff. Ideally, it should be the same across platforms, but as it is I think it's an okay trade.
Signed up. This should be interesting!
@JayronAuron yeah I just stumbled into the same issue. I wonder who came up with that idea 🤔
We still don't know what form the game will take. I'm still expecting some sorry of racing team management game.
signed up. hopefully will hear more at the investors meeting.
i'm also not a fan of us not getting gameplay or screenshots from this game yet.
Than again i do enjoy Mario Kart alot. hopefully they surprise me the game, as they did with Pocket Camp.
This is Mario Kart, it's almost a certainty the applicants will exceed
Not sure this game is a good idea... I can't afford to throw my phone after getting hit by a blue shell 🤣
If this game is gonna be f2p with micro transactions, Nintendo will earn more money then they will know what to do with
Hope it will be a worthy entry for the series , although for a phone game
I would love to participate but have no interest to change my Nintendo mail addy to my Google mail addy... What a bummer...
A simple link (Nintendo Account => Google Account) should be enough!
Never heard of mario kart, is it a good game?
Dope. I was an iPhone user for many years but I switched to a Galaxy S9 last summer when my iPhone 6 finally broke. I am very excited to try out Mario Kart on my S9. I rarely game on my phone but this will be an exception.
Sigh, exclusive to those who have a Gmail address.
For a demo
Of course no Europe.
@mlj11 That is funny, but first you have to get in first place . . .
No europe, then...
I'm excited! This might be a great new pre-drinks game.
For those complaining about the gmail thing, this beta is most likely using Google servers. I doubt the same requirements will apply once the full game goes live this summer, but for the beta, this requirement probably makes it easier for them, and doubly serves as a purpose to weed out a massive influx of applicants.
Judging from this ho-hum comment section, I'd say it's working.
@USWITCH64 I don't know either, maybe I will try that game out in your profile picture though which seems kinda fishy.
@IceEarthGuard oh yeah, now I remember😮
Oh my gosh! Im gonna sign u-
"Android devices"
Hopefully the game uses an analog stick!
I just applied.
Way, waay, waaaaaay too much work to apply to be a beta tester.
I have a gmail account that I use for most stuff, and an Android phone 4.4 or higher - no tablets allowed - and my phone has 1.5GB RAM or more, but my Nintneod email is my main email I've been using for 20 years, long before Nintneod Accounts were a thing, before Gmail was a thing. Not jumping through the hoops now for something they should be paying people to do, test their game.
I have no doubt this will be a cool game. But how long it will last the fun, we'll find out. I wish to see new racing stages and less old ones. Surprise me Nintendo.
If I use Nintendo Account registered for US region will I fit beta test requirements? What do you think?
So no tablets are allowed?? I've got an nvidia shield tablet which should be a solid contender to run this exceptionally well. Oh well, I was hoping to see if it had any pick up and play charm as the franchise went so off the rails I don't even buy it anymore.
It's annoying I'd have to change my registered email address under my Nintendo account to even sign up for this since it has to match your Google Play gmail account to qualify...then again, it'll prolly require a data connection to play like all the other Nintendo smartphone games, making this useless to me as I play games on my subway commute each day. Besides, Mario Kart 8 works great offline on my Switch
@Joeynator3000 we need to wait until the game
