Re: Hands On: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet's Performance Distracts From Neat New Features And Flourishes

I did anticipate the performance would suffer due to the larger size of the game they're trying to go for, I think the lower quality models of the Pokemon compared to Sw&Sh are evidence that they've had to cut corners in places to accommodate for a bigger game world, but honestly I think it will be worth it in the end. Having the Gym challenge only be 1 of 3 stories within the game speaks a lot about how big this game is going to be, and I'm happy that they're being ambitious and trying newer and bigger things, even if some of the graphics, textures and performance does take a bit of a hit in places.

Re: Review: Stubbs The Zombie In Rebel Without A Pulse - A "Cult Classic" That Has Aged Like Milk

Genuinely one of the worst games I've ever played. It's extremely rare that I don't finish a game because it's that bad but I couldn't bring myself to complete this game. The novelty and enjoyment lasts for about 15 minutes and then it's gone. The entire game is a repetitive, joyless slog without a single redeeming feature.

It's not one of those games that used to be good but hasn't aged well either. This is my first time playing it but even by the standards of it's time it's absolutely dreadful.

Re: Review In Progress: No Man's Sky - Right Up There With The Very Best Switch Ports

Bought this at launch on PS4 and sold it within a week, as did everyone else I know who bought it at launch. I really admire the way they've stuck with it and completely turned it around and if I'd never played it before I would play it again, I just don't want to risk not liking it again, even with everything they've fixed and changed. It felt like a £15.00 indie game at best at launch.

Re: Detective Pikachu 2 Game "Nearing Release" According To Pokémon Job Profile

I'd completely forgotten about this but I'll definitely be picking it up.

I never played the original but I loved the film and honestly it's probably the only live action video game adaptation movie I've ever seen that was any good. After the mess that was the latest Mortal Kombat movie I'd given up hope on there ever being a decent video game adaptation but it turns out I'd been sleeping on one for years.

I remember seeing gameplay of this on the GBA as a kid and it never appealed to me but it's always kind of stuck in my head but I never knew the name and for some reason I think I ended up believing this was some type of Kirby spinoff?

Glad I finally know what it's called, that name's a bit of a mouthful though

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Return To Monkey Island

Literally thought this was a remake of the first game until I watched a review last night (I've never played any of them before)

Even though I heard a lot of good things about the series as a kid I was put off the point and click genre by Broken Sword on the PS1 which I hated as a kid, and it wasn't a genre I really started to appreciate until the Telltale games came along

Re: Nightdive Studios Was Apparently "Close" To Reviving GoldenEye 007

Nightdive are fantastic and I would have loved to see Goldeneye given the Nightdive treatment, they did an excellent job of the Quake remaster and port to Switch and I'm really hoping they port their Blood remaster to switch as well. They even give games I thought nobody else knew about like Powerslave Exhumed a new lease on life.

Re: Talking Point: What Did You Think Of The Latest Nintendo Direct?

Type_Trubbish

Overall a very strong direct, albiet with a lack of Metroid and the twilight princess & windwaker ports I wanted. I don't know why Nintendo is still bothering with Cloud ports. Considering how disastrously bad the previous attempts with Kingdom hearts and others have been, you'd think they might learn a lesson.

Not only that, but I'd say the majority of switch owners own at least one other console that they could play these bigger games on anyway without forking out for a sub-par barely fucntioning cloud version on switch.m

Re: Soapbox: Splatoon 3's Midnight Launch Felt A Bit Different

Type_Trubbish

Didn't even realize midnight launches were a thing anymore. Only ever went to one and went to bed when I got home anyway, defeating the point. Plus if you're really that desperate to play it the second it's available you can just buy the digital version and install it in advance so it's ready to go. I've never seen the point of midnight launches.
