@Rainz I personally think it crosses the line in terms of acquisition size, though admittedly Microsoft is making a LOT of concessions to get it approved. But it's not just CoD they're buying, it's one of the world's largest mobile companies, World of Warcraft etc. Activision became massive when it acquired Blizzard, and now Microsoft wants to absorb the whole lot.
Bethesda was big but without the sheer capital value and scope of Activision Blizzard. Sony went and bought Bungie (and maybe overpaid). They're big acquisitions, but this Acti-Blizz one is on a different level. It's just my personal view that it's too big, and sets us on a potential acquisition arms race where a few companies acquire all the major players.
It's a darn good update, that's for sure! I've been getting this DLC through the Switch Online Expansion Pack and, for me, it's been a real treat to dive back in every few months.
Now to go online and get annihilated by all you plucky youngsters.
That's devastating to hear. Not only was Philip a fantastic writer, but he was a lovely person - witty, warm and generous.
Philip was a big part of the team when I was a newcomer figuring everything out, and he was a standard-setter with his writing and a wonderful colleague in every way.
@Bunkerneath I'll drop an older 'launch' trailer into the article, but a lot of the game is finding new Bugsnax, learning how to catch them and then doing so. Lots of environmental puzzles and quirky humour.
@Fizza Yes, if you've played a physical game on your Switch it gets a tile in the All Software screen (thanks for the Q, added a sentence on that in the article to clarify)
@lighteningbolt79 We can agree to disagree Some of the tracks in the original 'retro cups' were revamped and adjusted to incorporate ant-grav etc, but these are more basic interpretations with MK Tour builds as a base. That's fine though, the overall review is positive!
Also I think because the first two cups are normally the 'easiest' in MK a couple of the tracks are very simple and basic. I'm sure it'll gradually ramp up in later waves too.
Just added a note to the first paragraph too - you may need to update it manually at the moment, so hit '+' on the game's icon on the HOME screen to check your version number. If you're not on 1.1.0, select update manually
@sanderev Weirdly this is one thing were the UK is better off, in many ways this North American store mimics the UK equivalent. But yeah, not sure why some other countries are lagging behind.
@Captain_Toad Revelation is notable because for most it's mostly DLC only (the special edition with it on the cart is pretty darn rare). Awakening is a retail game so, theoretically, it's just about finding a copy.
Granted, I'm not aware of the current Awakening market, in terms of whether it's particularly expensive.
@GrailUK When I mention 'exaggeration' in terms of 'halfway through its lifespan' I meant I don't think it'll be a 10 year generation. Just me being a pedant!
As I said in the article though, I think Nintendo is setting itself up to release new-gen or more powerful hardware no earlier than Spring 2024, by then the Switch will have had a hearty 7-year lifespan.
@Specter_of-the_OLED Not really, because that early demo was far earlier in development and those chapters weren't the start of the game, they just said at the time it was 'some way into the game' and an early look.
This new demo is the final game, with the first three chapters (different content from last year's demo) included.

Re: Microsoft "Confident" Activision Could Optimise Call Of Duty For Nintendo Switch
Warzone running well on Switch - here, I have some magic beans to sell!
But ultimately, I hope there is good CoD on Switch + its eventual successor, even if I'm not particularly keen on this acquisition going through.

Re: 'Hyrule Highlands II' Is Classic Zelda Music With Celtic And Folk Flair
@nessisonett Haha, he's Dutch so we don't need to worry about that...
Re: 'Hyrule Highlands II' Is Classic Zelda Music With Celtic And Folk Flair
@Mando44646 Fans of a certain football club would disagree, so my tagline was for them
Re: Alan Wake Remastered Is Heading To Switch This Fall
@Zuljaras Unfortunately they've said it "will launch as a digital Nintendo Switch release only"
Re: Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Event Reveals Follower Quests, New Monsters And More
@Bobb Haha yeah, it looks tough!
Re: Sam & Max: Beyond Time And Space Gets Demo And Physical Release
@Silly_G I suspect it's deliberately old school (like the Mini CD) but I get your point.
Re: Random: Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak's 'Gowngoat' May Be Too Cute To Hunt
@TommyTendo But the EYES!
Re: Former PlayStation Exclusive 'Bugsnax' Will Soon Be A Tasty Arrival On Switch

Re: Random: Bloodborne Kart Is Real, And It's Coming "When It's Ready"
@CANOEberry I've passed the request onto the video team to consider, thanks for the suggestion!
Re: Nintendo Releases Two Utterly Charming Switch Commercials In Japan
@RubyCarbuncle Thanks, I've noticed some hiccups too. It is being looked at so will hopefully improve soon.

@Lordplops It was there 3 times, but I took one out to save your liver
Re: Bluetooth Audio Volume Gets A Welcome Boost In Switch System Update 14.0.0
@Banjo- I have some pricey wired ones from years ago, I just got cheap Bluetooth ones to be functional / useful
Re: Yes, Folders Are Now On Switch, Here Are Some Quick Tips
@RupeeClock Good point! I had that in my head but forgot when writing up, have added it in now.
(For example my 'backlog' games are also in my 'Indie' Group)

@Leuke Haha, I can't resist the F-Zero and Fox combo!
Re: Review: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Wave 1 - A 'Safe' Start To The 48-Track DLC Pack
@Mattock1987 Tracks that are enhanced to support anti-grav sections for one, more focused visual improvements.
Re: Looks Like Some People In The West Are Playing The Mario Kart 8 DLC Early
@Clyde_Radcliffe It'll likely be through 'iffy' means, but because it's so close to release Nintendo will likely ignore it.
Either that or they purchased it through a Japanese account but can still play with their US etc characters / flags. It is officially out in Japan.
Re: New Mystery Gift Distribution Rolls Out In Pokémon Legends: Arceus
@rawzeku I agree, thankfully the first one is just a code for everyone to use. But I don't personally plan to go to a store for a distribution.
Re: Pokémon Legends: Arceus Version 1.1.0 Is Now Available, Here Are The Full Patch Notes
Just added a note to the first paragraph too - you may need to update it manually at the moment, so hit '+' on the game's icon on the HOME screen to check your version number. If you're not on 1.1.0, select update manually
Re: Pokémon Legends: Arceus - Cable Holders Are Now Up For Grabs On My Nintendo
@marnelljm That is steep. It varies per country, in the UK it's £1.99 or free if you spend over £20 (I think) on the wider store.
Re: Feature: 23 Best Wii U eShop Games You Should Get Before They're Gone Forever
@gaga64 Wow thanks, have taken that out. My mistake, I assumed that one wouldn't be at risk of being delisted, how odd!
Re: Feature: 24 Best Wii U eShop Games You Should Get Before They're Gone Forever
@dustinprewitt Added DuckTales, that was too big an oversight to leave out.

Re: Feature: 23 Wii U eShop Games You Should Get Before They're Gone Forever
@dustinprewitt Oh no! I meant to add that as it was un-delisted.

@IronMan30 That you have good taste

@RupeeClock The screens do look pretty good!
Re: Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation And DLCs Will Also Disappear From The 3DS eShop
@gaga64 True. Funny to think back to how some of the 'early' DLC worked in Nintendo games.
Re: Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation And DLCs Will Also Disappear From The 3DS eShop
@Captain_Toad Revelation is notable because for most it's mostly DLC only (the special edition with it on the cart is pretty darn rare). Awakening is a retail game so, theoretically, it's just about finding a copy.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Pitches In With An All-Platform Tech Test This Week, But It's NA-Only
@cyrus_zuo You're right, I got it mixed up with the Nintendo Switch Online requirement when I was writing that line. I've added a correction.
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Sticks With Mario Kart 8 Through 2023, But What About Switch?
@GrailUK When I mention 'exaggeration' in terms of 'halfway through its lifespan' I meant I don't think it'll be a 10 year generation. Just me being a pedant!

@Aurumonado I like it

Re: Mini Review: Retro Bowl - An Addictive 8-Bit Throwback That's Appropriately Super
@AnnoyingFrenzy I beat the Packers in the Super Bowl... as the Jets. Hope that helps
Re: Mini Review: Retro Bowl - An Addictive 8-Bit Throwback That's Appropriately Super
@MeloMan Yes, it's just single player. It's the core mode of managing your team and playing the offence.
It's brilliant at what it does and is good value, but for sure if you prefer multiplayer it may not be what you're looking for.
