It was a backlog and Indie year, for sure. Worth reiterating when I say 'extraordinary year', that really refers to the inflated profits and sales of games and systems. The triple-A side struggled in terms of games, unsurprisingly, but the whole conversation around gaming was incredible, and the audience grew a lot.
I was grateful for some the range of download gems that arrived, they were so important.
My brother loves this, said to me "it's like Death Stranding but with trucks". Awesome, I said, you should borrow my copy of Death Stranding you like, it's really interesting. "Nah".
I WANT F-ZERO AND STAR FOX (though not that daft leaked racing thing) AND METROID PRIME 4 RELEASED DURING THE DIRECT AND PIKMIN 4 AND LINK TO THE PAST REMASTERED AND A UNICORN AAAAAAAAGAHAGHAGAHGAHG
@BensonUii It's a kind suggestion but no, I don't think that's the way to go. Looking forward to following what @Damo, Dom and the team do though, it should be an awesome E3
Looking forward to the Direct, but with all the leaks I guess there won't be many surprises! My fantasy announcement would be Sin & Punishment 3 but... yeah, ain't gonna happen.
I almost quit in protest when my gift packs were full of gimmicky 'players' that are actually YouTubers. BUT, I think performance is better, so that's nice!
@rjejr WHO isn't saying 'all' games are addictive, or that 'all' people get addicted. It's saying the opposite, but that it wants to properly address problems for the minority that are genuinely, seriously addicted.
Saying otherwise just plays into my beer / alcoholism comment. No-one says I'm an alcoholic just because I have a beer every now and then. Just like WHO isn't saying we're suffering from a gaming addiction if we enjoy playing a game now and then.
An unnecessarily defensive statement from ESA, I find it slightly odd (and terribly written).
WHO (World Health Organisation) isn't necessarily saying that video games are inherently bad, but is recognising that some have problems with addiction. I like a beer sometimes, but that doesn't automatically make me an alcoholic. Yet for some 'having a beer' starts a spiral of negative behaviour and excessive drinking. I don't complain about people talking about the dangers of alcoholism just because I like a beer.
There have been times in my past where I've eventually become aware I'm unhealthily obsessed with a particular game. I deleted those games and went cold turkey, but some no doubt have an addiction that goes much deeper. Better to address it for those that are genuinely affected.
@Joeynator3000 Not an 'issue' as such, I'm talking about a tiny, tiny bit of input lag which every game has through a TV. In the toughest levels I feel it's there, whereas with pretty much every other game I own I don't notice it. But hey, lag free on the portable!
Weirdly, I'm not sure the NA PR has all of the games due up to Christmas. I'll keep an eye on the eShop and do some 'out today' posts if any arrive that weren't included in that press release.
Updated the text. It's deffo out 21st December in Japan and that also seems to be the case for Europe and NA, BUT it's not yet showing on the eShop as 'coming soon'. Fingers crossed the dev has it right and it does arrive this week.
FYI, this was an hour later than normal because Nintendo's PR was an hour later than normal
One game that was listed for today on the official site / eShop - 60 Seconds - hasn't made the cut for whatever reason, for anyone wondering where it is.

@Andy_Witmyer Indeed, there's a news post from last week with the details, happy to be back writing silly taglines and the occasional informative (hopefully) feature. @MartyFlanMJFan All good! Was testing my login so I can join in a bit with the chat for the E3 Direct, should be fun
Re: First Fortnite, Now Paladins Is Found On Nintendo's Switch Servers
@rjejr Because the interwebs, and people don't like fun surprises any more.

Re: Mercenaries Saga Chronicles Invades The Switch eShop On February 8th
@brandonbwii Erm, it really hasn't been around a week or so I wonder if you'd picked up on the Japanese release details, the JP store got it earlier.
Yesterday was the first time we confirmed pre-orders, the pre-order discount and the release date for the 'West'.
Just clarifying, that's all

Re: Nintendo Download: 28th December (North America)
@Joker13z Yes, but NoA doesn't list it, the following is from the EU PR (I switched to dollar prices):
Switch and 3DS:
MIGHTY GUNVOLT BURST : DLC Character: Ray (Inti Creates, $1.99)
MIGHTY GUNVOLT BURST : DLC Character: Copen (Inti Creates, $1.99)
MIGHTY GUNVOLT BURST : DLC Character: Kurona (Inti Creates, $1.99)

Re: Feature: Throwing Shapes With Floor Kids' JonJon And Kid Koala
@Gen0neD I'm sure our reviewer is working away at it. There have been a lot of eShop games recently

@Simon_Fitzgerald It hits Europe on 18th December.

@darkswabber Nice Not sure what form our review will be yet, but I'm sure everyone will appreciate feedback (maybe there can be a forum thread too?)
Re: Out Today: Pinball Galore and Edmund McMillen's Latest Arrive on the Switch eShop
@darkswabber Thanks for that, I've updated the entry.
Re: Editorial: Wii Remote Pointer vs. Switch Gyro Controls - The Resident Evil Test
@BensonUii I haven't actually tried it (with the Pro Controller) but I think motion is Joy-Con only, 'cos Capcom.
Re: Poly Bridge Looks Set to Meet Up With the Switch eShop on 14th December
@Cosats I've added a euro price, if I'm honest I was just a tad rushed / lazy then.
