Re: Another Cloud Game Is On Its Way To Nintendo Switch This July

TheFrenchiestFry

@tadams587 I doubt there's even much of an audience on the Switch for this kind of game to begin with for it to be even worth boycotting

These cloud versions are probably mostly targeted at people who flat out have no other platform than Switch because if they really cared about A Plague Tale the game's been available on other platforms for like two years and are probably eyeing a legit next gen console for the upgrade. I doubt there's really many people who are going to go out specifically to get this game on Switch. Same with Guardians of the Galaxy

They probably tried running it natively and realized that it wasn't that feasible or worth what they'd eventually make back from the port compared to other platforms as well

Re: Metroid Games You Need To Play Before Metroid Dread

TheFrenchiestFry

You can straight up ignore the Prime games in this scenario. They're just there to fill in the blanks between Metroid 1 and 2 but you do have to play all of or at least most of the 2D Metroids since those are what count for understanding the relationship between Samus and the other Metroids

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Delivered An Excellent E3 Direct For Fans Old And New

TheFrenchiestFry

@AtlanteanMan The thing about Dread is that even if it on paper, wouldn't blow that many minds compared to something like a proper HD Metroid Prime game, Dread has such a storied history of being cancelled, revived, cancelled again and just the state of 2D Metroid being in such limbo that the fact it even exists at all was what caused such fanfare even if the game doesn't look immediately mindblowing at first glance

Metroid Dread was basically the mythical unicorn among Nintendo games for the longest time and it's the first original 2D Metroid game to follow from Fusion in nearly two decades. It's what people wanted out of the franchise this whole time and that's why it's special. Same with a lot of the other announcements like a more traditional Mario Party or Advance Wars being remade

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Delivered An Excellent E3 Direct For Fans Old And New

TheFrenchiestFry

This Direct almost felt like a love letter more to fans of Nintendo during the GameCube/GBA or Wii/DS era more than anything between stuff like Metroid Dread, Advance Wars being remade, Breath of the Wild 2 appearing on the same system a la Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, Mario Party completely returning to form, WarioWare and the prolific nature of the third party announcements like SMT and Danganronpa

Great showing from them this year.

Re: Video: Catch Up On All The E3 2021 Nintendo Treehouse Live Demonstrations

TheFrenchiestFry

@Kimyonaakuma Yeah I saw both trailers. The JP one was definitely more for the MegaTen playing crowd and gave a much better indication of story elements or what had been updated or refined from other SMT games, whereas the Nintendo Direct trailer was probably purposely presented to appeal to the mainstream audience watching the Direct and not just SMT fans

I am glad Nintendo/Atlus are pushing the game as hard as they are though. This probably ensures the game will end up being the biggest chance mainline has of breaking out of "somewhat niche" territory like Persona did with P5

Re: Nintendo Says It's "Working Hard" On Metroid Prime 4

TheFrenchiestFry

I'm honestly really curious to see the previous iteration of the game (that was supposedly developed by Bandai Namco Singpaore)

I really want to know what was so bad and what crossed Nintendo's quality assurance boundaries so drastically they felt the need to start from scratch after nearly two years of work had been done

I'm at the very least glad Metroid Dread is like 4 months away to hold us over

Re: Random: What's Happened To Bayonetta 3, Platinum?

TheFrenchiestFry

Considering they're developing Babylon's Fall, were doing Astral Chain before, self-published and developed the Wonderful 101 remaster and were involved as consultants on the NiER Replicant remaster I'm honestly not surprised it's taking this long. There was also that new game they made for Apple Arcade as well

Also as an Atlus fan I'm used to waiting long periods for things I want, case in point today

Re: The Japanese Shin Megami Tensei V Trailer Is Different To The Western One

TheFrenchiestFry

@Heavyarms55 They're likely not going the male/female route. It'll probably be preset since I think the only time they attempted a dual gender for the protagonist was Persona 3 Portable anyway. None of the main entries from what I remember did that either

Plus he seems purposely designed with some form of ambiguity to his look as well. Like nothing distinctly masculine or feminine

Re: Kingdom Come Developer Reveals Switch Version Was Born Out Of A "Happy Mistake"

TheFrenchiestFry

@COVIDberry SMT I and II are long overdue

Japan now basically has almost every main entry in the series playable on one console excluding Strange Journey, NINE and the two SMT IV games. The fact that NSO basically gets almost nothing noteworthy in North America while Japan got another version of SMT I and II is always going to bother me because having to rely on fan translations just aggravates me given this company's history

Re: Kingdom Come Developer Reveals Switch Version Was Born Out Of A "Happy Mistake"

TheFrenchiestFry

@Chowdaire Are y'all really still harping on about Atlus

Even when they give the Switch an exclusive game, which happens to be their first worldwide release after years of large gaps between Japan and US launches, and is also the latest in their flagship franchise, there's always those few people who will always bring the discussion back to a game they never even remotely promised whatsoever

I swear all this b*tching about THAT game is probably going to be the one thing that stops SMT V from making the main series popular

Re: New Animated Series Of Castlevania Confirmed For Netflix

TheFrenchiestFry

@3RedTriangles Considering Alucard is known for forging camraderie with those he assists or allies with despite his reluctance towards the idea of attaching himself too much to humans I don't see how he couldn't have some form of sass or sarcasm to his personality given he's known for having a cold and bitter exterior, with only his actual emotional turmoil being brought to the surface when directly confronted by his father or those associated with him like the succubus who took the form of Lisa Tepes in SOTN. In fact this is actually greatly exemplified towards the end of Season 2 when they're within the castle itself and he goes to confront his father alone, since even in the games he feels completely responsible for the path Dracula chose and feels it's his sole duty to face him without the help of Sypha, Trevor, or later Maria and Richter

Netflix Alucard behaves a lot more in character than people realize imo. The only thing I found offputting in any form really was that whole threesome thing in Season 3

Re: New Animated Series Of Castlevania Confirmed For Netflix

TheFrenchiestFry

@3RedTriangles Were people seriously that bothered with race-swapping Isaac? He's already a pretty different character from his game incarnation and it's clear they weren't word for word adapting every character to be close to their game counterparts to seperate it from the established lore so I don't see how it's a problem

Re: Kingdom Come: Deliverance Switch Port Is Finally Confirmed

TheFrenchiestFry

@kingbk I really doubt Switch can handle Elden Ring if it hasn't even gotten any of the other current gen FromSoftware games like Sekiro or even Dark Souls 3

Even DS Remastered on Switch is basically a slightly better looking version of the original game and is missing a lot of the lighting effects and texture upgrades from the other platforms
