This one had been expected for a while, but Nintendo confirmed during E3 that the snappily titled Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot + A New Power Awakens Set is coming to Nintendo Switch on 24th September.
This game was a big deal on other platforms, as it combines the over-the-top fighting we all know with role playing elements. Actually getting to explore the world, take on various activities and even complete sidequests added to the excitement for fans with the original release.
The Switch iteration, as it's a little late to the party, will also include what was previously 'Expansion Pass' DLC - A NEW POWER AWAKENS SET will include two different add-ons.
That'll be a lot of content - are you planning to pick this up?

Very happy for Dragonball fans!
(Can we get other games than anime franchises now Bamco? I’ll take the SCIIHD game that snubbed Nintendo gamers, thank you!)
I've heard mixed opinions on this game. I'll have to look up more reivews to see if it's something I'll be able to enjoy
Despite mixed opinions on the game I really want to play it on the Switch. Enough of review contents and footage convinced me. Insta-buy probably
Nice! I played it already, but will double dip! Awesome game.
Can't Wait for this, Going to pick it up on sale bc the sale are very big.
Im so glad this came to switch regardless how Late it was def gonna buy along with mario superstar party and zelda in 2022
Off topic but here is the Zelda Game and Watch preorder at Best Buy https://www.bestbuy.com/site/nintendo-game-watch-the-legend-of-zelda/6469083.p?skuId=6469083
Probably not getting this since I already own it on PC but glad these games are coming to Switch for people with no other option or a preference. Same with Danganronpa and Life is Strange
Ooh! There was a leak on this back in April, and the leaker also said Dark Souls 2+3 may also be coming out soon, so this gives me some hope!
NINJA APPROVED
@BloodNinja It'd be weird for Switch just to get DS1 and nothing else when PS4 and Xbox One both have that trilogy pack that came out the same day as Remastered on those platforms
I was right after all, ever since Namco brought Jump Force and Ni no Kuni II to Switch a year or so after the other platforms got their run with it, I knew it won't be long until they got to Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot for Switch as well and now it's here.
@TheFrenchiestFry Agreed!!
Is this a “cloud version” or is it running natively?
@Grahamthecracker Its running natively
This game looks and plays great on the Switch
@BloodNinja
was this the same one that also mentioned a "tales of...." game getting a remaster? since while i still like to keep my expectations low with leaks it is the big thing which i wanted to see from that list.
@Isaix Mixed opinions? From what I have read it is one of the best DB games ever.
I do wish we would get some sort of new DB Budokai Tenkaichi styled game though...
I'm pretty surprised by this. I really didn't think it would come to Switch.
The thing is, it's been out on other systems for a while now. So just because of that, a lot of people who might have preferred it on Switch, have already played it elsewhere. It's not going to sell as well as a result and people will once again say:
"nINtenDo fAns no liek 3Rd parti gamez! C! dIs game sold batter on PS4!"
And of course none of them will care it's been out for a year an a half on other systems. Make that argument to me if the game is released on Switch at the same time as other platforms. Which almost never happens and is the real reason many 3rd party games see lower sales.
Back on topic, if this game reviews well, I might want to pick it up. I'm not a fan of modern Dragon Ball Super really at all. But I grew up with DBZ and enjoyed it. Since this game seems to focus on DBZ, I might enjoy a trip down nostalgia lane without hours at a time of "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" power up filler. XD
happy to get it, since it comes with the DLC
I'm a huge fan of Dragon Ball, but this is a mediocre game and there are much better Dragon Ball games out there.
@Mgalens I believe you are correct! I do remember mentions of something related to the Tales series. Hope we all get our wishes! lol
Best announcement today for me. I'm a big fan of Dragonball and can't wait to play this, finally.
Remove the plot and it's a very dull game with only so much to do. But the plot and the unique experience make it worth it for non-fans IMO. The ability to fly around is a treat and something I've wanted to see in a game for a long time.
Question is what took them so long. The Switch isn't a console launched after the development of certain games had already started. Not anymore.
Fun way to relive the series playing this.
Gameplay isn't great, but good enough.
I give it a 7/10 or buy if you are a DBZ fan.
As a Dragon Ball fan myself, pass. I tried it as a rental and thought the gameplay was mediocre, plus I already know the whole story left and right. Therefore, I ain't buying it.
I'll stick with Xenoverse 2 and FighterZ (and Jump Force) for my Dragon Ball needs.
So when is Platinum Games going to make a Dragon Ball Z game?
Why hasn't Bandai commissioned them to make a game like their more popular character action games?
I am curious to understand the Dragon Ball Z story, but I’m not really into binge watching anime. I might give this a shot, as my introduction to Dragon Ball
@Moroboshi876 The Switch doesn't use PC based architects in their hardware unlike PS4 and Xbox therefore their version of the game usually came out last if the game was created with PC in mind. By using Android techs instead of PC, it's harder to port certain games to Switch as in able to get that game to run on Switch it had to be optimize for Android first. Also just cause a particular game could be ported to Android doesn't mean it'll work on Switch either, Nintendo Switch still runs on earlier version of Android and that particular game may required the latest Android update to be compatible. Switch doesn't had the latest Android system update.
Is it similar to Xenoverse?
I wasn't very keen on that one...
@Ghost_of_Hasashi The thing is in the first two years of the Switch's existence many developers said they had started developing their games before receiving Switch development kits, thus releasing Switch's version a lot later. Past its 4th anniversary I have trouble to understand why Dragon Ball Z Kakarot will have taken 20 months to come to the Switch. That was my point actually.
How does this game compare to Xenoverse 2?
Whoa, this game is over 9,000(but it is actually over 8,000)!
Wow! 20 years tardy (Capsule manufactures Time Machines, no?), but undoubtedly many a “young-Me” will be ELATED by this announcement.!
