Re: Shin Megami Tensei V 'Nahobino' Trailer Showcases More Gameplay And Story

TheFrenchiestFry

@SwitchVogel Persona is Persona. Completely different beast from SMT and whenever some elements kind of cross-polinate into other SMT games from Persona such as the super archetypal character writing in Devil Survivor 2 and to a lesser extent SMT IV Apocalypse, it really sticks out like a sore thumb

SMT always excelled in its atmosphere, narrative and darker undertones and that shouldn't be sacrificed to make it more mainstream for the people coming in from Persona 5 or P4G

Re: Talking Point: What's The Best Sound In Video Games?

TheFrenchiestFry

Some honorable mentions

  • the Combo Breaker sound effect in Killer Instinct (2013)
  • the THWIP sound when you web-sling in Spider-Man PS4
  • the Witch Time sound in the Bayonetta games
  • The Flurry Rush sword hitting sounds in Breath of the Wild
  • The limit breaks in Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VII Remake
  • Performing a Blitz skill in FFVI
  • When you break the "glass" surrounding the fighting arena in GG Strive

Re: With No More Heroes Wrapped Up, Suda51 Says He'd Love To Work On A Marvel Deadpool Game

TheFrenchiestFry

@Strumpan HIGHLY debatable considering Wade is someone who's dealt with suicidal tendencies, insecurity, trauma for the experiments that awakened his healing factor and is constantly burdened by his mercenary past when trying to better himself as a good person, especially when faced with working with or against more clean cut mutants like the X-Men.

He's actually a way more psychologically complex character than he's given credit for because he's supposed to be the "jokey jokey 4th wall breaking quirky killing mutant" according to a lot of people who've only either played the game or watched the movies

Re: Talking Point: As The Fan-Made 2D Metroid Prime Game Is Shut Down, Where Do You Stand On Nintendo's Takedowns?

TheFrenchiestFry

@Clarice Nintendo doesn't give two craps. Their game makes way too much money and the competitive scene is a miniscule portion of a largely casual playerbase. They put out these kinds of statements about not siding with such behaviour because not only is it good for their PR but good for maintaining brand reputation

In no way is this comparable to them being unreasonably restrictive with passionate fans working on projects that project their love of Nintendo's franchises. If every publisher cracked down on content like this, there wouldn't be success stories like Undertale, or AM2R, or Christian Whitehead and Stealth. These are completely apples & oranges comparisons being made here.

Re: Talking Point: As The Fan-Made 2D Metroid Prime Game Is Shut Down, Where Do You Stand On Nintendo's Takedowns?

TheFrenchiestFry

@Clarice Yes, keep drinking that Kool Aid and pretend a very publicized minority of people already ostracized from the community are the majority

While you're at it, why don't we talk about how every Sonic fan r*ped their dementia-diagnosed mother, or how every Star Wars fan is racist and derogatory towards Asian people because they thought Rose Tico was a bad character, or how Marvel fans hate trans people because they weren't supporting the creation of "Snowflake and Safespace" in droves when the New Warriors relaunch was announced last year?

Re: The Fan-Made 2D Metroid Prime Game Has Been Forced To Shut Down

TheFrenchiestFry

Man people in this comments section are drinking the Nintendo Kool-Aid thinking Mario-senpai will give them a cookie for their opinions

You ever just realize that "fan-games" are made by...fans of a series they wanted to pay respects to?

Anyways the demo looked sick. Shame it won't be continued because I dug what I saw. Fan games for certain series are great especially since if they hit it off it leads to better things like the AM2R guy being poached by Moon Studios and getting to work on stuff like Ori, one of the best Metroidvanias I've ever played

Re: Bravely Default II Is No Longer A Nintendo Switch Exclusive

TheFrenchiestFry

@IronMan30 I'm pretty sure they made a ton of exclusives for Nintendo handhelds in particular before Switch like the 3DS

It's also not like a game being a timed exclusive doesn't boost chances of more people picking up said platform for a particular game. In the case of Remake I think people on Xbox/PC are probably always going to be at a disadvantage because by the time the game comes out on those platforms, the next game is already in development, and will probably be PS5 exclusive for a year or possibly more again

Re: Bravely Default II Is No Longer A Nintendo Switch Exclusive

TheFrenchiestFry

@Rika_Yoshitake The PC port comes out on September 2nd

Also even though "console exclusives" are technically what they're billed as for marketing purposes, these games are no longer exclusive if you can play them on another platform at all. Even Sony issued reprints of games like Days Gone and Horizon just to remove the "Only on PlayStation" thing from their packaging because they're no longer "Only on PlayStation"

Re: Brand New No More Heroes 3 Spirits Are Coming To Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

TheFrenchiestFry

Honestly I'll take what I can get. I genuinely thought Travis had a chance as a fighter given like Bayonetta, No More Heroes is a major third party series, and a major M-rated series synonymous with Nintendo systems, and I personally think he could be toned down enough to work in compliance with the audience Smash aims for, but I'm glad to see the series is getting acknowledged regardless

Re: Atlus Drops Shin Megami Tensei V "Gabriel" Trailer

TheFrenchiestFry

@Friendly III would be a better jumping on point if you were already familiar with SMT's mechanics, like if you were coming in through the Persona series like a lot of people did when they jumped to Nocturne. For first timers I'd say IV is a better starting point on 3DS
