@Longondo Colors for me I found was a bit too Mario-esque in terms of the platforming and had way more 2D than 3D sections from what I remember, but it's a solid enough game with pretty great production value for a game that was only on Wii at the time. It's basically the Daytime segments of Unleashed but as its own game and the Wisps are fairly creative powerups even though some like the Cube Wisp kind of break the pace of stages unfortunately
@Ralizah Etrian is definitely on my radar. My friend's told me a lot about it since it was the only Atlus series he had experience with before getting into Persona and SMT
Honestly not really a fan of the remixed music. Has too much of that EDM feel that I thought made Forces' OST sound really out of place next to the other 3D entries. I'm glad we can at least toggle between the old OST and the new one
I will buy anything with music from Yuzo Koshiro. His contributions to stuff like Streets of Rage, the Smash Ultimate remixes and the first Persona Q game were highly enjoyable
Also should be mentioned DotEmu worked on the PS4, Switch and Xbox ports of Final Fantasy VII as well as Final Fantasy VIII Remastered and the Steam versions of the FFIII and IV remakes
Samurai Jack is the perfect template for a Metroid movie or limited series since its whole philosophy for storytelling is basically centered around "show, don't tell". Jack barely speaks and so much as constructs sentences like every 3 episodes so the rest of the storytelling is purely visual and atmospheric, which is literally the perfect way to go about a story about a lone bounty hunter travelling to different planets on assignment who almost never talks or even shows her face like Samus. The dialogue could be given through side characters like the other bounty hunters in Prime 3 or Adam Malkovich, but other than that it would be a show purely reliant on atmosphere and communicating its themes and narrative with very few words as possible
@sword_9mm I was thinking something more along the lines of that upcoming Analogue handheld that can actually play physical cartridges since emulation handhelds are like a widespread thing at this point
@Ralizah This is easily one of the best utilizations of Unreal Engine 4 I've ever seen on Switch. It honestly blows other efforts like Dragon Quest XI S out of the water with the sheer fidelity of the environments and especially the demon designs. I love that they just walk around the overworld map instead of you walking down desolate hallways waiting for a random encounter to be initiated. Even Persona 5 kept things relatively confined with like one or two Shadow guards per room in a Palace, but this world actually looks completely lived in by comparison. It's like a character in of itself in a way
Also that's good to hear regarding the English dub. I was getting somewhat worried given both previous trailers released in English were just subtitled versions of the Japanese trailers they've put up elsewhere. It'd be strange for a modern Atlus game not to have it considering it's practically been standardized by both SMT and Persona as of late. Even Nocturne HD got English voice acting, and that's just a remaster
FFX's story at one point was going to be way darker. Tidus was originally going to be travelling the world, possibly even by himself searching for a cure to a disease spreading across the main setting that killed anyone once they reached the age of 17
It actually sounds kind of similar to what plot details we currently know about Final Fantasy XVI given the main threat seems to be a disease known as the Blight spreading across two warring nations
Also as a side note, Final Fantasy X was made before the Enix merger, so it was Square developing the game, not Square Enix
@weisske It literally has the same exact set up as SAO. There are incredibly obvious comparisons to be drawn between the two even if the hacker concept is unique to it
Probably getting this on PS5 because of the better performance. I would get it on PC but it has Denuvo and is also Epic exclusive which means no proper mod support, and honestly for games like this I vastly prefer 60fps over 30 now. Games like Mario Odyssey spoiled me on how smooth they ran
@Broosh That's something I didn't actually know to check out. I've had the PS4 collection for like 2 or 3 years already but I never noticed that was a thing they included
Metal Gear games also do a similar thing where whenever the next entry in the timeline comes out they always have mission logs in the main menu that detail the events of preceding entries in the series' chronology
@SmaggTheSmug .hack from the outset was meant to be a multimedia franchise spanning different types of media. When the series started, both an anime series, and the first game in the original series came out within the same year (2002)
The game series is probably what it's best known for, but there's plenty of manga, anime and novels that tie into each other. It's kind of like the Fate franchise in that way
@Zach777 They are action-RPGs but they're structured more similarly to MMORPGs, specifically stuff like for example, Final Fantasy XIV where there's even ways to communicate and strategize with your party via message boards, in-game chat and e-mail
@Ralizah I do at least recommend the anime for the G.U. games considering the main character for the trilogy is the one from the anime and they do have plot details that connect that anime to these newer entries
Maybe the OG PS2 games aren't as necessary but there is a lot of referential material to preceding media surrounding the series
@BloodNinja The story and characterization I honestly feel is one of the better things about the games even if they aren't consistently paced well. The setting and worldbuilding is really good though
@GrailUK Yeah this is the more recent trilogy that came out after both the OG PS2 games and the .hack//roots anime series which stars the main character of these games (Haseo I think his name was)
.hack is a SUPER underrated series of JRPGs. They were done by CyberConnect2 back in the 2000's and kind of have a setting reminiscent of SAO where's it's like a game within the fictional world the game is set in. It's also very MMORPG-esque in terms of progression. The main character even has an ability where he can turn enemies he encounters on the map into rare items and the setting is all themed around computers and data which gives it a super cool aesthetic
Nice to see a lot of these PlayStation classics make the jump to new audiences after both Final Fantasy VII-XII and Danganronpa
EDIT: Just realized it's a bit weird how they're getting the G.U. games but not the first series of games which this trilogy is directly connected to. You might need to catch up in that case if you haven't played the series before
As a Persona player I adjusted pretty quickly to the Support system. I never really played Fire Emblem for all the banter in between battling as much as the battling itself so it was a nice change of pace. I do hope that they don't fall into Persona's trappings where at times it feels like certain characters aren't really serviced in the main story because they save lots of pivotal progression for particular people in their own support link instead of it just being a side story that fleshes them out more
Some of my fondest memories of going to malls or in Downtown Toronto are tied to going to EB Games to pick up new releases like buying the X Legacy Collection on Switch at launch or the Deluxe Edition of Final Fantasy VII Remake that came with the Sephiroth steelbook
Honestly haven't been playing my Switch as much for the first half of the year since part of it was spent hunting down a PS5 and then uni work on top of that
I already know I'm going to get back into the swing of things there when Metroid Dread comes out. SMT V is probably already set in stone as the best Switch game of the year for me though
@LaytonPuzzle27 Replaced or not, it's pretty obvious Craig is done with the role anyway after this film. After all the delays this particular film got in addition to it being his fifth outing in the role he managed to outlast Roger Moore as Bond and his negative experiences working on Spectre were pretty well documented
Any ounce of consideration I had for this game went right down the drain as soon as they announced SMT V would be releasing the week before, coming from someone whose first and most nostalgic Pokemon game was Diamond. It just doesn't compare in terms of exclusives anymore for me
@Clod That is way off the mark regarding Lucifer, and I can tell you this from only having read the comics the show is based on without actually having seen the show lol
Yeah it's only a matter of time before the shops close too
The 3DS at that point will be a bit over 11 years old and the Wii U will be 10 years old by then, and I don't expect Nintendo to have the generosity Sony did regarding leaving their PS3/Vita stores up for longer than they were supposed to be
@Bizzyb "they keep pumping out spinoffs that no one wants or asks for"
Yeah it's not like Persona 4 Arena was a super well received fighter that had a sizable competitive presence and brought a lot of fighting game players over into trying out the main entries or anything
It's not like Persona 4 Dancing and Q literally happened because of fan demand for a Persona rhythm game or a Persona game on 3DS or anything

@CactusMan If Pixel Remaster doesn't come to Switch this seems like a viable alternative honestly
Re: Here's What The Nintendo Switch Looks Like Next To Valve's Steam Deck
It's like the SEGA Nomad but the guts inside of it actually justify it being big and it actually looks comfortable to hold

Re: Upcoming JRPG 'MONARK' Unveils Its Stylish Opening Movie
This game oozes SMT If and Persona 1 vibes for me. It's on my radar but SMT V takes priority first
Re: Evil Dead: The Game Has Been Delayed Until Next Year
All that first trailer for Evil Dead did was make me wish Bruce Campbell made a cameo in either of the Insomniac Spider-Man games

@GrailUK Focus definitely aren't AAA. The most high profile thing they've probably done are some of the Warhammer games
Re: Feature: Fire Emblem And 8 Other Nintendo Franchises That Need A TV Series
Metroid DESERVES a TV series or movie.
Samurai Jack is the perfect template for a Metroid movie or limited series since its whole philosophy for storytelling is basically centered around "show, don't tell". Re: Two More Of Capcom's Legendary Street Fighters Join Fortnite
@CheekyZelda I mean to be fair Chun Li does work for the police so it's kind of realistic to expect her to have experience with firearms
Ryu packing heat will never not be funny though
Re: Two More Of Capcom's Legendary Street Fighters Join Fortnite
Lmao they had to give Cammy pants because she's too "provocative" for the kids
Bayonetta is snickering in Smash land right now

Re: Soapbox: Playdate Sold Out In 20 Minutes - Is It Time For A New Nintendo Handheld?
I want a Game Boy Classic that plays games from every generation of Game Boy like the Advance does.
In terms of dedicated Nintendo handhelds that's really all I want
Re: Random: It's Masahiro Sakurai's Birthday - And He Got An Awesome Gundam Figure

Re: Gallery: Atlus Shares 30 Screenshots Of Shin Megami Tensei V For Switch
@Quarth I have no idea what kind of PS2 games you were playing lol
Comparing this to Nocturne or the PS2 Persona games is like night and day. There are actually THINGS happening in the environments for once lmao
Re: Gallery: Atlus Shares 30 Screenshots Of Shin Megami Tensei V For Switch
Atlus loves designing teenage or early 20's women with long hair and similar face structure
Tao looks like what would happen if Tsubasa from Tokyo Mirage Sessions and Ichinose from Persona 5 Strikers did a Dragon Ball fusion dance
Also I only see subtitles for cutscenes in the screenshots. Are we not getting a proper English dub? Is this Persona Q2 all over again?

Re: UK Charts: Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Stays Second, NEO: TWEWY Debuts In Tenth
Honestly NEO starting in 10th for a sequel to an really good, but incredibly niche DS game from over a decade ago is actually quite nice to see
I've barely gotten into it but I do dig the switch in combat style. But maybe it's because I'm on a bit of an action RPG high right now
Re: UK Charts: Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Stays Second, NEO: TWEWY Debuts In Tenth
@KBuckley27 Makes sense considering TWEWY is way more commonly associated with Nintendo and a much larger fanbase on those platforms

@MsJubilee Look if Persona comes to Switch, I'll double dip, but if it doesn't it's not the end of the world for me
I own a Vita for P1-4 and a PS4/PS5 for P5. These games not coming to Switch doesn't affect me at all even if it would be nice to see
