These indie 'Smash-like' games are becoming pretty regular, and most of them arent worth bothering with. I'm sure at least one of these characters have been in at least one other of 'these' games too, which takes away what little uniqueness it had for me.
This one in particular? The roster looks a bit better than most with far less "who the f is that?", but the gameplay looks very slow and stiff, with the animation looking fairly tacky. I dont quite get the Smash-like tag it has gotten since it looks absolutely nothing like Smash, crossovers alone or fighting games not being a thing Smash invented.
The Switch eShop is a total trash heap. They still don't even have a friggin' shopping cart, the most basic of all features for online stores.
I don't think I've ever purchased something from the eShop because I just happened to see it and it looked fun, that doesn't happen, the store isn't built for that to happen. I end up manually looking for games I've seen "by chance" on other stores because they actually do have the layout to surprise the user with something new.
@Magician With over 4000 game on the eShop in only around 3 yeara you should question the sheer lack of quality control.
It's great on paper, 4000+ games to play. In reality, the vast majority of those are complete drek not even the google play store would want.
Are the other games not releases on Switch yet? I have them all elsewhere, played enough to know I was liking it but not had the time for them. A Switch release would have been ideal.
I love the Steamworld franchise to bits, but its hard for me to care about this when I know I don't have a chance of getting a copy.
Also, kinda weird how they're releasing it. Why not be more obvious about Dig 2 being there? Why not put all these small sized games on one cartridge to both cut costs and convenience for the user? Why not just include everything they've put out to this point given if you're buying one of these individual titles, especially the inevitable hard to get physical version, you're likely interested in all of them?
@dreamssux Why is it hard to believe? It's random, you're not guaranteed to get one within X amount of tries not do you have to try X amount of times before you can get one.
I got the Blue Marlin and Tuna first try one after the other, my girlfriend was there near 2 hours trying to get either of them. Theres no science to it, Nintendolife arent just lying because you didnt get lucky.
@Cosats Just because you've had a flawless experience doesnt mean others haven't and of all the Nintendo games I've played, I'm seeing the bugs personally far more.
I've had the abundance of balloon presents
my partner had the opposite receiving nothing
I've also had the problem of villagers leaving and the house they lived in not becoming vacant
she was also unable to progress after setting up her three villager houses and after looking for fixes to this, she had to start again
Currently my housemate is without a friends app thus stopping him from sending/receiving mail, having to travel to islands with a dodo code and I believe unable to redeem certain nook points.
That's in one household. Other close friends have had similar and other issues. These dont seem to be issues affecting a minority of players, it seems most are experiencing at least one of the many reported glitches. For a Nintendo game this IS buggy, they're all features that arent working that are big parts of the gameplay, not to mention with the regularity they're things that should have been caught in play testing. They're huge issues in that regard.
Again, maybe you've not had issues, but others have and perhaps if you removed Nintendo's rock sold bell tree from your gaping dig spot you would be able to see that whilst a great game, the QA is quite below what Nintendo usually puts out.
I find it odd how buggy the game has been, quite a couple of them being things will stop progress or deny features altogether.
Between the 3 of us in my house, we've come across basically every bug the game has, my housemate still not having the friend app feature this preventing him doing anything like send/recive messages or visit towns without a code.
I'm just used to Nintendo games being pretty tight on release and a few of these I really wonder how they weren't picked up through playtesting...Unless Nintendo has finally decided to go the AAA route of making customers play test their games with the rest of the industry...Hope all these bugs are just an oversight though.
@OorWullie I dont see why these days if a game has a release date and the delay is from something like 'decrease the spread of a virus' it cant still be released digitally and physically later, especially given how high digital sales are now.
I'll be buying a digital copy of Animal Crossing on release anyway for example, I've been saving eShop points specifically for that so I'll only be spending about £10. It would just be annoying to be sat inside unable to download a game that otherwise should be released if not for current worries over specifically physical copies I'll be buying after launch anyway.
Looks trashy, something I would have absolutely no interest in if not for q few characters.
I'll give it this, compared to most indie crossover games it has more characters that I know and/or from games I've played (compared to the usual like 1), but the game itself looks like something I'll stop playing 5 minutes after I've bought it and never pick it up again.
@Heavyarms55 His comparison to racism may have been extreme, but his overall point is still accurate. Sounds like you're moreso trying to pull attention away from that point being correct more than anything. Even saying you're not against all mobile games but they have to prove themselves to you...I remember my dad basically saying in regards to employing people that he's not racist but a black man would have to prove he's extra trustworthy if he wanted a job. I imagine nobody really cares whether you're biased against games or not, they're not a group of people, but it shows the same negative attributes such as bias, ignorance and a closed mind when you just dismiss something based on what it is at a surface level rather than how you actually experienced it. Portray yourself however you want though, its not my life.
"the burden of selling". Yea, I think that only really applies to actual potential customers. If I have to sell something, I don't bother with the uphill battle of selling to somebody who doesn't want or need it, especially if it's somebody who has clearly already made a biased decision against the product, I just move on to those who are actual potential customers...Or my actual target demographic, if you will. You don't get specialist building tool suppliers putting extra effort into advertising at the retirement home.
"The F2P style of game design, overly simplified controls to be viable on touch screen only devices, level and game design geared toward extremely small play sessions, microtransactions, gatcha mechanics - all of these things can be traced toward the mobile gaming market."
Oh boy...Nope.
Overly simplified controls. That's basically the goal for most devs and what customers generally tend to want...Especially with handheld gaming actually, and a lot of arcade games, and the vast majority of the late 90's/early 2000's PC browser based Flash games a heck of a lot of us grew up with. Why make control inputs any more complicated than they need to be? That's when things get needlessly complicated and prevent a player from playing the game. This is why the majority of highly regarded or commercially successful games tend to have pretty simple controls all considered. Complexity has its place, but lets not act like Super Mario Bros wasn't ridiculously simple with forwards, backwards and jump, a formula that's barely ever changed even with newer hardware having more buttons to utilise.
Level design for small play sessions is basically 99% of handheld games for handheld systems. Nintendo themselves have being doing that kind of level design since the Game & Watch and realistically it has only died out with the Switch...Heck, outside of RPG's games could be beaten within an hour for the longest time. There's a whole genre of games usually not on mobiles basically dedicated to the premise of not being very long and best suited to quick sessions: Roguelikes, where the game generally isn't long and you're just intended to keep playing the same bit of content over and over. Even away from that we have arcades with short games where you played for scores, or Flash games of the late 90's/early 2000's where kids would hop on for 10 minutes in class. Mobile gaming far from influenced this type of design choice.
Microtransactions actually originate with PC, a platform that's been doing additional downloadable content as long as some of us can remember. Microtransactions, DLC, Expansions, mods, these were all done on PC long before mobile phones were even in colour. Its modern form is actually closer to what came about with the Xbox 360 generation (though it definitely predates that), Elder Scrolls: Oblivion's horse armour being the first big well known case of stupid microtransactions in their current form. In terms of buying in game currency for real currency, that has been a thing in F2P PC MMO's for as long as I can remember, back when mobiles could barely send a text.
Gacha I can't say much about, I don't know much about it, but even a quick google search shows me that its based on those 'random' vending machines and casinos. They're closest to lootboxes really, and even a lootbox is just a monetised version of something that's existed since the first time you could open a chest with a random item as a reward.
Ultimately, do what you want, nobody really cares whether you buy the game or not. I probably won't either, I've already forgotten what it's called. Maybe try to come across as a bit less of a, well, 'you' though, and spread a little less misinformation if you could.
@NotTelevision Well I think that Konami clearly not caring anymore is a huge reason to why things happen as they do.
I would imagine these older games may not have sold well enough with previous releases or sequels, or maybe with them being older games and consumers having expectations (as well as Konami having a poor reputation these days) they can't see any value in porting them again if they can't further monetise them.
Maybe with Metal Gear Solid being a Kojima game (as MGS5 let us know approximately 59,000 times) and Silent Hill now having strong ties to Kojima, they're "done" with those franchises, or at least the older games. It's no secret that there's bad blood between Konami and Kojima.
SotN obviously stands out here given it goes against everything I've suggested, but I'm also under the impression it was partially funded by Sony which may have been the factor in having it ported at all. That's obviously just speculation on my part (as is most of what I've said), but it would make sense as to why SotN has been ported again but not any other game in Konami's library despite there clearly being an audience for them.
Now if only they could throw in some facial hair. The only 'off' thing for me with Animal Crossing is that I feel like my character is a little kid running around with that smooth face. Kinda the same with Pokemon, but the avatar is canonically a child in those games so it bothers me less.
@mesome713 "no fear"
Given the plethora of other games I can think of where customisation options weren't locked to a certain gender, I would argue that there was fear given this isn't something implemented into the series (or other games) sooner.
@popey1980 Nintendo have always had people moaning...that's because for all the great things nintendo do, they always do something sucky pretty much alongside.
@Hobbesyall Nintendo have always had dry spells, usually on either their handheld or home device whilst the other gets packed with new releases, then they'll swap. I dont know why this is the case, but theres always been periods I would leave (for example) my Gamecube alone for a few months because the GBA was getting a few new games instead.
It helped that with their handhelds that third party devs would always be releasing exclusive games for them making releases seem even more frequent, even if nintendo wasnt the one actually making them. Obviously that was a product of limitation, devs couldnt just port a version of a game to GBA and had to deliver something unique, which shows with the Switch having far less unique titles from third parties than any older handheld at this point in their life.
I had hoped with the Switch phasing out both their home and handheld systems to combine them into one this would no longer be the issue, that having one system to focus on would mean a steady release of first party games on that one system...sadly though Nintendo never does what you expect, for better and for worse.
@tanaka2687 Theres nothing wrong with the concept, but the execution is for the most part horrendous, hence why people look down on mobile games as a whole.
I doubt people are inherently against the concept of games on a phone, it's actually extremely convenient in theory and with the incredible progress in what mobile devices are capable of it has so much potential...but the vast majority of mobile devs have and continue to release such utter trash with such blatantly anti consumer monetization schemes not just built into the game, but the game itself being built around increasing its ability to pry as much money from the hands of players as possible through various documented underhanded tactics.
I'll accept that it's better than absolutely nothing, but it's still ridiculous. I get the whole cheat avoidance thing but this is nothing but an inconvenience to legit players (sadly a sentence that applies to too much with gaming) who may need to do this more than once.
Lets just accept Nintendo arent going to let us recover data whenever we please, they're super pro consumer like that......okay, then why not 1 transfer per system or 1 transfer every 6 months or something rather than just "everybody gets one"? Still not an ideal solution but anybody unfortunate enough to need to do this more than once wont be 'on edge' after the first time.
@MasterGraveheart Its not competitive but theres quite the 'market' online for items, patterns, villagers etc. It was also very easy to cheat more money with New Leaf making the currency a bit useless and making it pretty much impossible for legit players to engage in this aspect.
Seems a bit insulting to compare it to Shovel Knight given thought actually went in to that with his shovel actually being a core aspect of its tight gameplay, whereas here the bucket is so inconsequential that the article doesn't even mention it outside of the name of the game.
At best this looks like another low quality forgettable indie game trying to ride coat tails for a few mislead sales.
Dragon's Crown is one I've always wanted to play but a mixture of finding the time for it and it never being in stores when I've looked stopped me. From what I understand of the game it also just seems better suited to short bursts, so perfect for a handheld.
Persona I've never taken all that much interest in, but I remember looking for Persona 4 a while back given all the praise it got and it wasn't exactly accessible, basically being the end of my short lived interest. By the time I knew it was a thing the PS2 was a relic, mine of which no longer worked, the other version being released on the Vita, a console I'm not buying for the sake of one game that for all I knew could have gotten ported like many others. A Switch version on that account would be perfect given it takes away some of the confusion of what I'm actually buying with the multiple versions and spinnoffs (as a newcomer, trying to find out which was the "actual" Persona 4 wasn't obvious) and makes it available on a modern platform that isn't doomed to failure like the Vita.
Well, okay. I played it for an hour or so on Game Pass but really haven't had the time for it, so I was buying the Switch version regardless since I have a bit more time for portable games.
I dont mind digital copies. I have most of my Switch library digitally with the exception of exclusives (double dipped for those with multiplauer) but it's really going to depend on whether this really is a physical release. If any of the game still needs downloading, which is a possibility with a big game like this, theres no real point in me buying a physical copy...none of the benefits of physical or digital, all the annoyance of both. We dont know if that's the way they're doing it, but it's a possibility.
@TIND
You'll be more comfortable if you remove the tin foil hat.
@Smashfan502 Yea, but people want a hard mode because shockingly some people like challenge and shockingly not everybody is challenged by the default difficulty tuned for the ages of 7+. Difficulty WAS one of the only negative aspects for me because encounters quickly became a chore when I knew I was never going to die. A harder option would have helped.
And people expect single player DLC because its first and foremost a single player game. If anything, multiplayer DLC seems like a baffling choice despite their reasoning given I cant imagine the player base actually using Luigi's Mansion multiplayer maps is very high...I'm wondering how many people have ever even loaded them up.
Odd, I was under the impression that we shouldnt complain because Sakirai picks the characters and he can do what he wants. That's what I've learned from reading comments, so it must be true, right?
Were Nintendo fans...Wrong!?
No, it cant possibly be that...its me who is wrong, everybody who said that will do a 180 and will deny ever having even claimed that.
@DockEllisD I dont think I've ever seen the Steamworld games NOT on sale on at least one platform.
I'll probably not buy Quest (the only one I dont have) in this sale since I dont have time, but when I do I wont consider paying full price since they're probably all going to be on sale again within a few weeks of that.
Indies or remasters, sure, why not? The Switch version is going to be so minimally 'worse' (if even at all) that the option for portability is far more appealing.
Something heavily downgraded though, like DOOM? I prefer shooters with a keyboard and mouse anyway, but that aside, a game that is intended to look graphically brilliant and can run at 60FPS elsewhere, I would rather spend the time I have at home playing it in the best possible way I can.
Theres enough games on Switch that this isnt an issue anyway, I think I'll live if I deny myself the option to play a downgraded version of a game on the toilet. I would much prefer to have games designed for or that aren't affected by the Switchs hardware 'on the go' and save those more demanding games for when I do get a bit of time at home with some more powerful hardware...No sense playing the overpriced and under performing Switch version of DOOM when I have a hefty computer upstairs, nor is there any reason to limit Hollow Knight to my house.
REEEEEEEEE!!! IT LUKS LIEK ZILDA!!! ONLI NITENMBO CAN DO DIS!!!
Looks fun, bit different, I'll pick it up. Why wouldnt I want something similar to something I like? More of a thing I like? Absolutely not!!! eye roll
Can't say I really agree with Smash Bros as a family game. Feels like its here more so because you can have lots of people play locally rather than it actually being suited to family play.
A family game should be accessible to everybody, which Smash is to an extent since it's fairly basic at a surface level, but in a typical family setting where not everybody necessarily plays a lot of video games? You're just going to have the person who owns the console either destroying everybody else, putting more effort into playing poorly or simply just not playing, none of which sounds particularly fun for everybody.
Mario Kart by comparison has features there for people who might not play many video games so that they can join in and have a chance of winning too. That's a perfect family game because I can play as I usually do with none of these features enabled and realistically my little sister could still be competitive thanks to steering assist or auto accelerate.
Or Overcooked, being a game with very simple mechanics and concept that slowly ramps up the difficulty. Even my mum could grasp this one.
If a game is selling for less than £1/$1, usually it isn't even worth that, with very few exceptions.
That said, with Nintendo still failing to give the Switch such basic features as a shopping cart, reviews, 'stars', "recommended for you specifically" and (I dont recall seeing this one) "more like this" sections, i can see why some devs might go so low as to make their big discount sticker stand out. I rarely buy something on the eShop on a whim, i usually know what I'm logging in to buy and their primitive system is exactly why, so such sales might be the only chance a dev has of showing me their game should I stumble upon it on a whim.
Saying that, I also looked through the list and they all look trash anyway.
@Elithal It should be the publisher actually that is in charge of increasing a games visability. Sure, the platform holder should be giving the tools to help increase a games viability but those tools should be there for every game. They shouldnt be in charge of making your game stand out though, the publisher should since they're the ones with the financial incentive for it to do so. If somebody cant be bothered to properly market and highlight the game that's their own problem.
But as I said, the tools should be provided and Nintendo is worse than lackluster there.
@whanvee You've not been able to "catch 'em all" in a long time, hence why they dropped that slogan a long time ago since "gotta catch a lot of them, trade them to yourself somehow, maybe catch them again over the course of a few weeks due to limitations we impose, trade some more, transfer to yourself via Pokemon bank then trade with yourself a few more times 'em all" didnt roll off the tongue that well.
Seriously, most of the people that bring up that relic of a slogan (which was only ever used in the West) dont actually realise it hasnt been used for longer than it was used.
When this was first released I didn't pay much attention to it outside of "oh, it has something to do with Fire Emblem". Most of the """marketing""" and hype for it was basically just various ways of saying "it's a SMT and Fire Emblem crossover" which for the longest time just begged the question of "yea, but, what is it?". What the actual premise or gameplay was like seemingly never got a mention and to what extent this was a crossover I don't believe I came across. If marketing and articles about the game at the time didn't see the need to elaborate on any of this, I wasn't willing to put in the effort to find out, which I think is a big reason it didn't sell since I can see that being a universal thought process.
Then this article comes along. It's taken since release for me to really have an idea of what the game is and (as somebody who has never played SMT) it seems like a SMT game first and foremost by a wide margin with the Fire Emblem aspect of the 'crossover' being more akin to calling Spy Kids 3D a crossover movie because Machete was in it for a minute...Essentially, it comes across that if you took out the Fire Emblem aspect, nothing of importance would change.
@Metalpug79 That would make sense if it was actually ordered alphabetically. Considering the game I was looking for, Blazblue, turned up towards the end of the list among Steamworld Dig and Ori, I doubt my spelling had anything to do with it.
Or, OR, I could just have some folders so I can throw fighting games in a folder, platformers in another, so on, so fourth. Even phones have folders these days, it's an utterly basic feature for modern devices that allow you to store a plethora of software on the device itself, a basic feature that in typical Nintedno fashion they don't have.
It is trash and what's worse is theyve done it fine on previous consoles, so why are basic modern features still missing on the Switch?
Took me 10 minutes to find a game the other day in that mess I could have easily organised with something as simple as a folder, then had to download it too.
And slightly off topic, when is the eShop getting the most basic feature of a shopping cart?
@NorrinRadd But if they threw out the statistical outliers it's also promoting the idea that your opinion doesnt matter if it doesnt fall in line with the majority. For a lot of things that's fine, that's why outliers sometimes get removed, but for a score on entertainment? It's nice to know and useful to show that not literally everybody thinks something is a masterpiece.
Scores given that are obviously part of some review bombing trend are often discarded, as they should be, but if somebody is scoring a game differently to everybody else and has obviously put their true experiences opinion there, why should it be ignored because everybody else hates/loves it?
This is why I'm always more in favour of a far simpler like/okay/dislike system over numerical values. Numerical values are very arbitrary and somebody's numerical value on a game could change from day to day. Like or dislike though? I'm always going to like Banjo-Kazooie, I cant truthfully say that I'll still think it's a 94.51 rated game tomarrow though, I might be in a bad mood and think it's an 81.07, just like I never sure whether Tamodachi Life deserves a 0.00 or a 0.01, but I'm certain I absolutely hate it.
@javiboy2 Portable...Until you need to "sign in" to use an internet connection.
Unless you could download music to the Switch, which I don't see happening, it seems like a pointless option in regard to portability when the vast majority of people have a phone in their pocket more than capable of running Spotify. The only other workaround to the Switch's god awful connectivity options is to use a phone as a mobile hotspot...At which point, just use the phone.
It's among the more unfitting series they could have done a cross over with...Then again, maybe that's the point. Other 'mech' series are few and far between as well as running the risk of any crossover just blending in with the base game and not feeling that special. This though? It's weird and stands out, it feels more unique because of it.
I've got a better idea: I'll continue not to buy and support games I'm not interested when given the blackmail of "we'll give you what you want if you buy what you don't" because it's a vile trend that I hope everybody stops falling for.
I was thinking of picking it up too since I just wanted some monkey ball and not heard anything for or against it, but I refuse to support games where they've given this kind of ultimatum since I don't want my purchase to contribute to them thinking that these statements work.
@EmmatheBest I mean, at the risk of sounding like I'm defending an apparently bad game (that I've little knowledge on), Contra is one of THE games the Konami code was most abused in, resulting in basically not seeing the Game Over screen.
I've always seen these types of games to be a "how few lives can I beat it with" rather than "how many can I have/can I do it in the limit?". In that regard, not having game overs serves the same purpose as the ever popular cheat, just letting you see and practice those levels without having to continuously restart, play half the game again and make about 3 inches of progress.
@Dm9982 I'm not subscribed to PSN or XBL and likely never will, so I'm not comparing NO to them. I'm only """"subscribed"""" to Nintendo Online because a friend had a spare spot in his family pass, or I wouldnt be part of that either. I either dont or basically cant use its services either, largely down to them being sub par.
In comparison to the other "services" yea, it looks better for the price. Judging it by it's own merit though, it's still an awful """service""" that:
uses largely peer to peer multiplayer (thus not a service, just charging me to use my own internet) resulting in a lot of online games being pure bad
dribbles out old 'free' (as long as you pay) games now at a massive shrug rate
cloud storage that probably doesnt work with the game I'm playing
It looks like a better deal in comparison, but I dont think it's worth the money when just looking at what it offers on it's own. Sony and Microsoft at least have the decency to offer a service that works for that ridiculous price tag.
A smack in the face seems like a better deal than a kick in the balls, I wouldnt pay for either though.
@dimi If they didnt even try with other games, why bother making them in the first place? Great logic, they just released games for the sake of releasing games? "Just make something, dont put much effort in though"
That recent 'Town' game or whatever it was eventually called on release is a great recent example. They obviously did try on that, they said countless times that it was a focus and they were hoping for it to do very well. It got a lot of pre release attention. What happened? Mediocre reviews and faded so quickly I legitimately cant remember its actual title.
Meanwhile even with the negativity, Pokemon was a massive success...because as said, even a bad Pokemon game is fun enough (I like it, dont think its bad).

Re: Bounty Battle Is Smash Bros. For Indies, And It's Coming To Switch This Summer
Re: Mini Review: Oddmar - An Acclaimed Mobile Platformer That Just About Holds Its Own On Switch
Ultimately, do what you want, nobody really cares whether you buy the game or not. I probably won't either, I've already forgotten what it's called. Maybe try to come across as a bit less of a, well, 'you' though, and spread a little less misinformation if you could.
Re: Please Konami, Stop Trolling Us And Release Castlevania: SotN On Switch Already
Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Won't Lock Any Customisation Options Behind Gender
Now if only they could throw in some facial hair. The only 'off' thing for me with Animal Crossing is that I feel like my character is a little kid running around with that smooth face. Kinda the same with Pokemon, but the avatar is canonically a child in those games so it bothers me less.
@mesome713 "no fear"
Given the plethora of other games I can think of where customisation options weren't locked to a certain gender, I would argue that there was fear given this isn't something implemented into the series (or other games) sooner.
Re: Itching For 2020's First Nintendo Direct? One Super Mario Maker 2 Player Got Tired Of Waiting
@popey1980 Nintendo have always had people moaning...that's because for all the great things nintendo do, they always do something sucky pretty much alongside.
Re: Itching For 2020's First Nintendo Direct? One Super Mario Maker 2 Player Got Tired Of Waiting
Re: Mario Kart Tour Adds Classic Mario And Luigi And A Remixed Version Of Mario Circuit
Re: Recovering Your Animal Crossing: New Horizons Save Data From Nintendo Is A One-Time-Only Deal
Re: We've Had Shovel Knight On Switch, Now It's Time For Bucket Knight
Ah, brilliant, more trash for me to sift through.
Re: Reminder: The Fourth Wave Of DLC For Fire Emblem: Three Houses Is Now Available

Re: Nintendo Of Europe Teases Blockbuster Switch Sale, Kicks Off This Week
@TechaNinja Yea, something like "hey, Nintendo, ever heard of America?"
Yano, something stupid and whiny.
Re: Nintendo Of Europe Teases Blockbuster Switch Sale, Kicks Off This Week
@Moistnado If anything, I think we hear too much about America.
Re: Atlus Wants To Know If You'd Like Persona, Etrian Odyssey And Other Past Games On Your Switch
Re: The Outer Worlds Switch Release Gets Delayed Due To The Coronavirus Outbreak
@TIND
You'll be more comfortable if you remove the tin foil hat.
Re: A Single-Player DLC Expansion For Luigi's Mansion 3 Was An Idea That "Faded Quickly"
Re: Sakurai Knows Smash Bros. Has Too Many Fire Emblem Characters, But It's Nintendo's Fault
Re: Image & Form Is Hosting A SteamWorld Sale On The eShop This Weekend, Up To 75% Off
@DockEllisD I dont think I've ever seen the Steamworld games NOT on sale on at least one platform.
I'll probably not buy Quest (the only one I dont have) in this sale since I dont have time, but when I do I wont consider paying full price since they're probably all going to be on sale again within a few weeks of that.
Re: Switch Player Magazine Gets A Fresh New Look For 2020
With art by that one 10 year old the rest of the class says is really really good.
Re: Talking Point: How Often Do You Make The 'Switch Sacrifice'?
Nope.

Re: Feature: Best Nintendo Switch Family Games
Re: Random: Fans Have Some Fun With Inteleon's New Gigantamax Form
@The-Chosen-one No.
Re: 64 Games Are Currently Available For Less Than $1 On The Nintendo Switch eShop
Re: Galarian Slowpoke Is Waiting For You In Today's Pokémon Sword And Shield Update
Re: PlatinumGames Receives Investment From Tencent To 'Explore Self-Publishing'
Tencent?
So basically, Platinum have just been diagnosed with cancer.
Re: Hands On: Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore Could Give The Game The Second Chance It Deserves
Re: Hideki Kamiya Thinks The Switch Home Menu Is A "Piece Of Crap"
@Metalpug79 That would make sense if it was actually ordered alphabetically. Considering the game I was looking for, Blazblue, turned up towards the end of the list among Steamworld Dig and Ori, I doubt my spelling had anything to do with it.
Or, OR, I could just have some folders so I can throw fighting games in a folder, platformers in another, so on, so fourth. Even phones have folders these days, it's an utterly basic feature for modern devices that allow you to store a plethora of software on the device itself, a basic feature that in typical Nintedno fashion they don't have.
Re: Hideki Kamiya Thinks The Switch Home Menu Is A "Piece Of Crap"
It is trash and what's worse is theyve done it fine on previous consoles, so why are basic modern features still missing on the Switch?
Took me 10 minutes to find a game the other day in that mess I could have easily organised with something as simple as a folder, then had to download it too.
And slightly off topic, when is the eShop getting the most basic feature of a shopping cart?
Re: Metacritic Reveals The 50 Best-Reviewed Games Of The Decade, Nintendo Takes Top Two Places
Re: 11,000 People Ask Spotify To Support Nintendo Switch, The Response Is Underwhelming
Re: A Free Witcher 3 DLC Pack Was Just Released For Daemon X Machina
I just want to know "why?"
It's among the more unfitting series they could have done a cross over with...Then again, maybe that's the point. Other 'mech' series are few and far between as well as running the risk of any crossover just blending in with the base game and not feeling that special. This though? It's weird and stands out, it feels more unique because of it.
Re: Buy Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD And Sega Might Remake The Original Games
I've got a better idea:
I'll continue not to buy and support games I'm not interested when given the blackmail of "we'll give you what you want if you buy what you don't" because it's a vile trend that I hope everybody stops falling for.
I was thinking of picking it up too since I just wanted some monkey ball and not heard anything for or against it, but I refuse to support games where they've given this kind of ultimatum since I don't want my purchase to contribute to them thinking that these statements work.
Re: Contra: Rogue Corps Returns To The Original Game With Its Latest DLC
@EmmatheBest I mean, at the risk of sounding like I'm defending an apparently bad game (that I've little knowledge on), Contra is one of THE games the Konami code was most abused in, resulting in basically not seeing the Game Over screen.
I've always seen these types of games to be a "how few lives can I beat it with" rather than "how many can I have/can I do it in the limit?". In that regard, not having game overs serves the same purpose as the ever popular cheat, just letting you see and practice those levels without having to continuously restart, play half the game again and make about 3 inches of progress.
Re: Talking Point: What's Happened To Switch's NES And SNES Games, Nintendo?
@Dm9982 I'm not subscribed to PSN or XBL and likely never will, so I'm not comparing NO to them. I'm only """"subscribed"""" to Nintendo Online because a friend had a spare spot in his family pass, or I wouldnt be part of that either. I either dont or basically cant use its services either, largely down to them being sub par.
In comparison to the other "services" yea, it looks better for the price. Judging it by it's own merit though, it's still an awful """service""" that:
It looks like a better deal in comparison, but I dont think it's worth the money when just looking at what it offers on it's own. Sony and Microsoft at least have the decency to offer a service that works for that ridiculous price tag.
A smack in the face seems like a better deal than a kick in the balls, I wouldnt pay for either though.
Re: New Pokémon Sword And Shield Galar Plush Release Next Month, Including Wooloo
@Jutandy What's your point here? Not exactly the first time Eevee hasnt gotten a new evolution.
Re: Talking Point: What's Happened To Switch's NES And SNES Games, Nintendo?
@Dm9982 "the games are free!!!...at a cost"
Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield Is The Fastest-Selling Switch Game Yet
