@Sinister: clearly, you have no idea what you're talking about, Super Mario Maker can have slowdowns on Wii U, so obviously it's complicated to make it run on 3DS. You have never used Super Mario Maker nor seen what levels you can do with it.
"in the early days of the console, many believed that it would be a failure" - actually, nobody thought the 3DS would be a failure back then, and certainly not because of the 3D.
Also, Virtual Boy has been acknowledged many times in the past, as others pointed out.
"in a manner that can only be described as 'archaic' you must hold down the Y Button to run"
So I guess that according to Nintendo Life, Super Mario 3D World is "archaic"? Oh, wait, Nintendo Life gave that game 10/10! Not bad for an "archaic" game.
@MJInnocent how did that matter for previous NSMB titles? For how many years did the first NSMB title sell? The whole generation? How is NSMB2's success a "believe is or not" surprise?
Why "believe it or not"? New Super Mario Bros. 2 is an excellent game, and the money rush mode could have revolutionized the franchise with proper online leaderboards.
Good. Basically any other company would have done the exact same thing. Besides, Return of Samus is absolutely brilliant and is perfect the way it is, it doesn't need to be "remade" with GBA graphics stolen from other Nintendo games or shoehorned into the mould of Super Metroid with way too many items.
Lots of hateful, contemptuous comments here, on par with the worst trash of YouTube. Not surprised. NST are talented developers for what they do for years now: Mario vs. Donkey Kong games. Of course it's not mentioned in the article at all, but they're all of very good quality, and some of them are spectacular, better than stuff like Chu Chu Rocket. Also, why is working on mobile supposed to be something shameful, exactly? Weren't people eager for Nintendo to invest in that market? Good luck to both those employees, I hope they'll find something they're happy with, and that they don't listen to the heinous bile some ignorant people are willing to throw at them.
@Kirk I know Art perfectly well, thank you very much. Amusingly, I actually saw "Le Radeau de la Méduse" in person recently.
This game still looks terrible, and uses retro as an excuse to look terrible. Many games of that area looked much better (the animation in particular is atrocious here), just like most pixel art games of the 8-bit area looked much better than current "retro" games. Say, Aban Hawkins looks great, but most other "retro" games look like trash.
Retro is used to avoid hiring a competent graphic designer, especially here, and that's all there is to it. REZ or Virtua Fighter this isn't. Trash is trash is trash.
Frankly, at this point I'm fed up with seeing Shovel Knight bloody everywhere. The fact I didn't find the associated game all that much special doesn't help.
"Wedbush Securities research analyst Michael Pachter..."
Stopped reading right there. Nice try, Nintendo Life, by not putting "Pachter" in the title you tricked me into clicking... except I have adblock anyway.
@fiben1002 puns have to be grammatically correct, or they're much lamer than they already are. If you make up words or ways to use them, it's not a pun.
@ImDiggerDan I'm glad your problem was settled, it was completely unfair. To be honest, I didn't get into your game because of taste, but it's good quality, especially for the price, and it's quite different from Boulder Dash.
Digger Dan wasn't very good IMO, but it's not quite Boulder Dash, he should have the right to sell his game. By this logic, SteamWorld Dig should be taken from shops too, it has as much links to Boulder Dash as Digger Dan. Besides, First Star Software is really not making any good use of the Boulder Dash IP for years.
@Nintendian European language releases have nothing to do with belonging to the European Union whatsoever, and certainly not "Euro zone", since the UK never belonged to the Euro zone in the first place. European language releases existed before the European Union was even a thing.
@CharlieSmile why would people stop saying things that are true? Not wanting games to be censored and thinking the original way creators did their game is the way it should be played are perfectly valid opinions. Apparently, you not only want to impose your views on game content, you also want to censor people's opinion about that process? Who the Hell are you to tell others what they should do out of their lives? Don't like it? Ignore it, and let artists and their fans enjoy their freedom. It's because of your kind that people are getting more and more hostile.
"Gaming analyst", lol. They knew writing "Michael Pachter" would make people shrug and not click, so better hide that after the jump.
What he says makes no sense whatsoever, by the way. Seeing Breath of the Wild running on Wii U makes him think NX is more powerful than PS4?! Hilarious.
@Snow-Dust because it was. Sonic Lost World is basically an alpha build sold as a release game. This game is the first and only one that made me feel tricked and robbed, it's just not finished on any level whatsoever, a complete disaster.
Pointless "article" with basically nothing to show. I see the same character twice, just one with a hood and one without. I wouldn't mind the player being able to choose Link's gender since you can choose his name anyway, and Nintendo seems to push female characters (tons of new female characters in Smash, tons of female character in Hyrule Warriors), but I'm beyond tired of all this rambling about Link's gender based on nothing. Nobody cares in the real world.
@TomJ: this is a joke, right? This has nothing to do whatsoever with the original Chibi-Robo and looks worse than the 3DS game, and it looks abysmally mediocre if not flat out bad on absolutely every level. How is this better than Zip Lash, which wasn't even very good? It's absurd disinformation like this that is "pathetic".
@Dakt: yes, Nintendo has given no news, and Nintendo Life is trying to generate clicks with cheap news nobody really cares about. That's what we're saying.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE "We're not allowed to look at bikinis for fear it'll warp our fragile little minds."
Nope, you're not allowed to look at bikinis because social justice warriors would otherwise yell about "sexism", even though men are less clothed in the same game. Companies adapt their games to the culture and media pressure of each countries. Fight the social justice warriors, change your country's mentality, and then the games will release uncensored, like they do in the country of origin.

Re: Video: This Studio Ghibli-Inspired Zelda Trailer Is Just Too Perfect
It looks good... until the animated Link, which looks comically horrible.
@BionicDodo: how does this being done by one guy invalidate it's not Ghibli's style?

What the Hell is this article blabbering about? The 3D effect in NSMB2 was great, it was exactly what one could expect.
