@AlexOlney funny, for a whole generation (Wii) if not two (Wii U), Nintendo fans (including me) argued framerate was much more important than resolution. I guess Nintendo and their fans had "skewed" priorities back then, according to you.

@AlexOlney uh, yes? When was price supposed to be relevant in any way in a review and score? Do review sites change their score every time a game drops in price? Should all free games have a 10/10 score? Price shouldn't enter at all into the equation.

@arrmixer there being positive, and then there's being delusional. One week from release, this is a major issue that Nintendo needs to address quickly. If it's a hardware issue, it's a complete disaster.

@arrmixer yeah, you can't play at all without a pro controller and therefore can't use the console in portable mode, but it's "no biggie" as you say.

Liked the GameCube a lot, loved the Wii, liked the Wii U despite its lack of software... no interest at all in the Switch. It's an expensive downgrade.

@nhSnork I don't live in Japan, nor do I care. As a Wii U owner, the Switch is a pure downgrade. It's the Wii U except with much less features, no generation gap from the previous console, and having to buy everything again with no added feature I'll ever use.
The move to Switch made me move 100% to Steam. Last generation I had a Wii U, before that I had a GameCube and Wii, but I'm out.

It's a Wii U, except:

No dual screen.
No D-pad.
No browser.
No free online.
No backward compatibility.
No Miiverse.
You have to rebuy the Wiimotes, now called "Joy-cons", which are much smaller, with screwy ergonomics, no D-pad and no speaker, and sold at a much higher price.

Oh, and you can use it as a portable. Except you won't, because nobody does and nobody will.

They don't talk about it because it'd show the Switch for what it is: a Wii U, except worse.

It's basically the exact same, except it doesn't have the instantaneous warping from the Wii U map screen, and you have to pay for online play. Since we all know the quantity of online games will be anaemic on this console and the features will be bare bone, very little people will be online, and it's therefore worthless.
Same thing for Mario Kart 8 "Deluxe": pay again for the exact same game except no free online.
No thanks.

But Nintendo Life doesn't take criticism lightly, they either delete negative comments or outright ban you if you dare making remarks. I've been banned seven years for outlining inconsistencies in their Dr. Mario Online RX review, I know.

I hope Chicken Wiggle will sell well, it looks excellent. I loved both Mutant Mudds games, and it's unfortunate to learn they haven't found the success they deserved.

Uh... to me it's obvious the Wii U looks better, what's with this horrible twinkling on the NES mini, it basically makes games unplayable? The only "fault" of the Wii U is games look darker, which they don't on my TV since it adjusts light automatically. Wii U wins hands down and I wouldn't touch the NES mini with a 10 foot poll.

@liljmoore how is a portable console a "new concept" exactly? This is basically a portable console that can plug on a TV, period. There's nothing wrong with that, but it's not a new concept, Sony did it with their brand for years.

I'm not seeing how it's a "new concept in gaming". Gameplay-wise it changes absolutely nothing. They basically, as expected, fused together their home console and portable console into one console to strengthen their market because they couldn't live as two separate entities any more. It looks great and it's IMO a smart move, but there isn't anything "new" for gaming here.

@argh4430 indeed, gamers have tons of content to keep them occupied, the only "desperate" ones here are Nintendo Life, who's taking basically any excuse to post shoddy "news" to generate ad revenue. One can sympathise, but the non-news they post lately are just absurd.
