Re: Best Switch Games In Nintendo's eShop Summer Sale (Europe)

Sillyeyepatch

The fact that I own most of these shows that I need to rethink my life choices. Really helpful list for those who aren't patient enough to trawl through the Eshop though. I'm just missing Dead Cells as a no-brainer purchase I should have bought ages ago.

By the way for those who want Catherine full body that live in the UK and don't mind digital, CD keys has a sweet deal on it, I snagged that recently: https://www.cdkeys.com/catherine-full-body-switch-eu

Re: Nintendo Download: 8th June (North America)

Interested in Bleak Sword DX and picked up the new Hatsune Miku shameless shovelware that isn't on this list that I buy (and enjoy) every goddamn time xD

Other than that the summer sale just dropped over here so I'm scouring the Eshop deciding which ones to pick up, as well as removing some from the list that no longer interest me.

Really good showing. Not gonna lie that was a lot to take in so I watched it quickfire in Switch corner's video:

I really wish it was in an indie showcase, having game releases dumped like this is a bit overwhelming.

There is a lot here that is wishlist worthy for me (probably because my tastes are so broad) and I've already pre-ordered nova lands. I didn't think dark deity would get another game, but it's the same old story in that I still haven't played the first.

@Thomystic
I'm not gonna lie, I see why you would say that but I'm all for devs taking inspiration from other games and putting their own spin on it, even though some of these were a bit on the nose.

I'm especially positive about it with games like a tiny sticker tale where it's very unlikely we are going to get anything similar from Nintendo again as Sticker star failed in it's execution quite badly, but it was a novel idea. Will be good to see what someone else can do with it.

Re: Watch The Pros Splat It Out In The Splatoon 3 Championship 2023 Opening Qualifier

@roy130390
I have to agree.
My original comment was meant in jest and playful. If people put the time in and are amazing at the game, more power to them, they deserve to wipe the floor with the competition, but it kinda gatekeeps the people who want to just have fun with it (I feel bad for kids lol) but I guess you could say the same for any competitive online game.

Like you said there are just too many good games to justify sinking all your time into it, just to keep up with the competition. I used to be ok at Splatoon 2, cause it was fresh (no pun intended) and I put hundreds of hours into it but now playing 3 when I can't give it the same amount of attention it just feels punishing to pop on here and there when even the turf war players are out for blood. It must feel similar when you hop on smash just for a bit of fun and get roflstomped. It's evolved without me and that's fine, I had my fill, lifes too short to play one game.

Re: Poll: Will There Be A June 2023 Nintendo Direct?

Sillyeyepatch

@nhSnork
I'm with you, I barely play Nintendo games on my Nintendo system xD

Trying to guess what Nintendo will do is like trying to understand women, everything points to the fact we aren't getting one but you never know. I could go for another ̶f̶a̶r̶m̶i̶n̶g̶ direct, but I'm perfectly happy if not, my backlog never lets up.

Re: Feature: Nintendo eShop Selects - May 2023

@BenAV
Yep, there's nothing here to tax it. I agree, I will die on the hill that It's more that devs just don't understand the system rather than the lack of power. 6 years in and it's getting more and more grating. They just shove it on there for a quick buck, not really understanding that it works differently than other consoles.

I feel like the review copy you guys got of Cassette Beasts and the one I have are worlds apart. Please note that my tolerance with performance on Switch is incredibly high. The game started ok (and that's me being kind) there is a nauseating amount of stutter/lag or whatever you would call it, but it progressively got worse, with visual glitches becoming more frequent, the slowdown would affect the music as well which is such a shame because the soundtrack is fantastic. But my true problem was the amount of crashes I had that seemed to get worse the more hours I played. It does have autosave but without spoiling there are certain fights that I consistently lose progress on because after I've beaten them it will get stuck at the exp screen and the screen will go black, making me unable to save or fast travel, and 9 times out of 10 when I fast travel it will crash. It's been benched for that reason despite me wanting to carry on, but with reviewers giving it very positive scores and marking it down for some minor hiccups is not going to make the devs fix their game.

Please don't buy this game yet, it deserves so much better than the state it is in right now, the game itself is my favourite Pokemon-like yet. It's ridiculously fun, the type system is fantastic, the monster designs are great and the exploration is rewarding and as I mentioned already the soundtrack is banging, the only soundtrack in a game I've liked more so far is from the Persona series. It would have been one of my favourite games without these issues.

For clarity my version is 1.3.0

Re: Soapbox: Stardew Valley Was Surprisingly Good Prep For Living With My Partner IRL

Sillyeyepatch

This is just the sort of wholesomeness I needed today, it was so lovely <3
Now if only you could do chores by pressing A in real life, there would be much less arguments xD

Oh and don't worry we've all drunk ordered a pig, she clearly forgave you

To answer the question, I think having common ground in liking pokemon helped in me and my partner's early relationship. but I remember when I was re-playing A wonderful life on the Gamecube and that was the first time he saw me truly absorbed into a game, or as he put it, 'it shut me up' ever since he knew games could do that to me he has supported my game addiction xD We parallel play, he plays PC, MMO's usually and I play Switch and it's honestly the secret to a happy 11 year relationship, to be playing in the same room, but not with eachother, often asking eachother how we are getting on, And then in the evening he comes off and plays Switch with me and I torture him with whatever I'm stuck on at the time, or rope him into co-op, it's bliss.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 3rd)

Sillyeyepatch

It's really nice to read that pretty much everyone plays Tears of the Kingdom differently, irrespective of how much free time they have as well. I know that could be said for a lot of games, but it's really nice. Some people savor every last morsel and take their time exploring and not 'progressing' in the traditional sense, while others have been working hard to do story/shrines to get themselves buffed up to fully explore later on. It's really wonderful to see the same game being played so many different ways.

Re: Valve Confirms It Contacted Nintendo About Dolphin Emulator Coming To Steam

Sillyeyepatch

It's the same old argument in every post about this, Valve just didn't want the drama even if they are misguided and Nintendo don't come after emulators I can understand why they are cautious.

I can see both sides, Nintendo have a right to do this and it's going to be high on their radar since even new releases like TOTK are emulated on release. However there is no way to legally access their old games anymore in a way that they would still make them profit, only people selling them second hand, usually for large amounts of money. The ones they do give us are drip-fed and NSO could be removed and we lose access to them anytime they like. They butcher the creativity of their fans by taking down products like Pokemon Uranium, which is really sad but at the same time they don't want people accidentally thinking projects that use their IP's are official.

Emulators are legal but no-one is going to use them for anything other than pirating games, let's be real. And anyone can just download dolphin still, absolutely no need to put it on steam where people will 100% play Nintendo games on Steamdeck and weird flex about it.
