Go-kart rental company Akiba Cart is known for its usual monthly events, allowing people to race around the streets of Tokyo's busiest and geekiest district, Akihabara. However, last Sunday the neighbourhood was in for a treat, for a group of cosplayers dressed as Mario and company decided to take the stage and 'play' Mario Kart.
The photos below truly describe how awesome it would have been to have witnessed this as a bystander, for seeing the likes of Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Toad, Toadette, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, and Bowser race past you is certainly an eye-rubbing moment. Of course, MK-style projectiles such as bananas and shells were forbidden to avoid an inevitable cart-astrophic outcome — although it seems some members of the group even took it upon themselves to bring their own replicas of these dangerous items.
Thankfully, no cliffs were present during the event, giving Lakitu some well-deserved time off for a change. Would you like to take part in something like this, and if so what item would you use if you could?

Wow if the small crowd of people there is legit then wow, Japan is WAY into smartphones.
@Shirma_Akayaku Dammit, I was gonna say it!
That first picture is rather unfortunate with mario's right hand held up(and the object in his hand obscured).
Nice! Japan is awesome.
Only in Japan.....
why can we not have this stuff in the US
My local StreetPass Group did this a few months ago. Though it was at a Go-Kart track, not in the streets!
This looks like fun!
I WANNA DO THIS!!!!
I love go karts, and Mario...
@andrew20
Cuz lawsuits.
Lol Wow
...Somehow, I think I would be more comfortable driving one of those than driving a typical motor vehicle...
Cart-ostrophic... Beautiful.
No Luigi, no death stare = fail.
I would use the Blue Spiney item, of course... Or the 8 Special!
