Re: Did The Official Pokémon Twitter Account Just Tease Let's Go Diamond And Pearl?

Shepdawg1

I doubt another Let's Go game would happen already, especially a Sinnoh-themed one. It would be odd for them to jump from Kanto all the way past Johto and Hoenn to Sinnoh. It doesn't make a lot of sense. I think the Twitter account was just being cheeky.

And don't forget that the Poke Ball Plus was usable in Sword and Shield as well in that you could put a Pokémon into it, walk with it, and send it back with items. I wouldn't be surprised if they brought that back for whatever the next game is since that game is likely based off SwSh's engine.

Re: Pokémon Combats Scalpers By Promising To Print More Trading Cards

Shepdawg1

@Xaessya That's not how it works. As supply catches up to meet demand (which is what should happen if they're going to be maximizing production), demand drops, and the value of the cards will plummet. This will cause scalpers to have an abundance of stock that they can't sell at a profit, which they don't want. If anything, I imagine the current resell prices are going to go down pretty quickly. Scalpers will likely try to liquidate their stock before new stock arrives, and a lower price does just that.

Re: Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time Hits Nintendo Switch This March

Shepdawg1

@GrailUK It's very good, but the completionist challenges can be a thing of nightmares. Every level has 6 gems, there are inverted versions of every level with their own 6 gems, four colored gems, the flashback tapes that only show up if you've reached the part of the level they're at without dying, perfection relics that require you to break every box and beat the level without dying, and the Platinum Time Trial relics are required for the final ending (and then the purple Time Trial relics, but those aren't required for completion).

Re: Australian Pokémon Go Player Becomes First To Hit Level 50 Worldwide

Shepdawg1

This honestly kind of boggles my mind. How many hours have they poured into this game? How much money have they poured into this game? Do they even consider the game fun at this point? What's going to happen when/if Pokémon GO gets shut down?

I can't really judge them seeing as I've spent literally thousands of hours myself in the mainline series, but I also can't comprehend wanting to play Pokémon GO to this extent. At least with the mainline games, you have tangible, physical proof that the Pokémon you've worked so hard to raise and collect are there and will always be there. With a server-based game like GO, all your hardwork is stored on an account, and should that account or the game ever leave, you're left with practically nothing. I just don't see any fulfillment in that.

Re: Rumour: Pokémon Diamond And Pearl Remakes Will Be Revealed For Switch Next Month

Shepdawg1

This should go without saying, but if these are real:

-Expect them to be running off the SwSh engine. All past remakes have run off the same engine as their current gen counterparts and it would be very unlikely for this to change.
-As such, don't expect much in the way of graphical improvement. Could they improve it? Absolutely. Will they? I personally think any improvements will be marginal at best.
-Don't expect all 898 Pokémon to be accessible in the game. They stated this would be the case going forward, so until it's confirmed otherwise, don't expect all Pokémon to be present. If anything, they'll at least cover the Pokémon that aren't in SwSh or their Expansion Pass areas, giving us the remaining 234 Pokémon for Gen VIII. There's definitely a possibility that they took fan feedback about the lack of all Pokémon into consideration, but don't be surprised if not all Pokémon are present.

Overall, just don't be surprised if Game Freak doesn't buck the trend and gives us just another Pokémon game like they've been doing for years.

Re: Capcom Shares Strict Video Guidelines For Content Creators

Shepdawg1

@Vsaxo27 Realistically, a good let's player or streamer uses a game as a conduit to interact with their audience or as fodder for their own reactions and personality. I personally don't watch let's players for actual gameplay (unless what they're doing is very impressive, like a speedrun or a challenge). I watch them because I think their personality is fun. When you can make your audience engage with you as the player rather than what you're playing, you've got a winning formula.

Re: Zelda Voice Actress Patricia Summersett Speaks Out About Online Negativity And Criticism

Shepdawg1

It's definitely strange for her and King Rhoam to have English accents while nobody else in the games seems to have one, but I lay that more on the voice direction than her performance. As was evident in Age of Calamity, she brought a lot of depth to the character, to the point that Zelda's attitude, demeanor, and confidence completely changed when she awakened her power. I think Patricia has a lot of talent that people don't really see just because her performance doesn't match their idea on who Zelda should've been. So, I like her as Zelda.

Re: Random: Disgruntled Fans Spam Nintendo Tweet In Response To YouTube Soundtrack Takedowns

Shepdawg1

If the uploaders aren't trying to make money off the music, it doesn't hurt anyone for Nintendo to leave them there. If they are trying to make money, that's where the line is crossed and Nintendo should issue (at the very least) copyright claims rather than takedowns.

What Nintendo should do, though, is make an official Spotify channel to upload their music to, like Square Enix and Capcom have done. Granted, their library is much bigger than either of those companies and I pity the poor soul that would have to organize such a massive project, but it would be such a forward-thinking approach and get millions upon millions of hits.

At the end of the day, though: this is not something I'll get upset over. There are other, more important things to worry about than easy access to game music.

Re: Talking Point: Are Shiny Pokémon Too Common These Days?

Shepdawg1

I'm a very dedicated shiny hunter, with a goal that I don't think has been challenged yet: a Living Shiny Master Dex (a shiny variant for every possible Pokémon, including gender and form differences). That said, having done shiny hunting for a little over five years now, I agree that Shiny Pokémon are getting a little too common. I'm not a serious GO player and I have 272 Shiny Pokémon in it, not counting ones I've already transferred to Let's Go, pushing my total well past 300.

That said, I think the value attributed to a Shiny Pokémon comes from its owner. I've seen people upset that the Shiny Charmander they got through soft resetting in Gen 3 is devalued due to the number of Shiny Charmander from Pokémon GO Community Days, and I've seen people elated to get a Shiny through Chain Fishing or Wonder Trade. For me, the value I attribute to my Shiny Pokémon comes from the effort I put in to get them. I don't care if a lot of people got a Shiny Zapdos pretty easily from GO. It doesn't change the fact that I worked my butt off to get a Shiny Zapdos from HeartGold after a painful 13,340 tries. It holds value to me because I worked for it, and that's how I feel Shiny Pokémon should be treated.

So don't feel ashamed if you have a Shiny you like that you didn't work for, and don't shame people for going for easy shinies. Let people enjoy things, I say.

Re: Sword And Shield Are Now The Best-Selling Pokémon Games Since Gold And Silver

Shepdawg1

@Tuulenpoika Yet the irony is that, barring transferring Pokémon, base Sword and Shield have as much content, if not more, than Red and Blue, Ruby and Sapphire, Diamond and Pearl, Black and White (arguably), X and Y, and Sun and Moon. Max Raids and their events are technically far more evergreen than anything else in those games too, as they can continually cycle in new events to make update Pokémon more widely available and give away special Pokémon, like this new Pikachu event that has a Shiny Pikachu Raid in it. People just like to toast this game simply because no National Dex.

Re: The Team Behind Konami's Classic Suikoden Is Creating A Spiritual Successor

Shepdawg1

It specifically says in the Kickstarter that they want to avoid putting it on Switch since, by the time the game is done, Nintendo will have likely moved onto their next piece of hardware and they don't want to risk having to go through a lengthy port process just to get it there. They'll do it if they have no other choice, but they seem to be targeting whatever Nintendo puts out next.

Re: The Pokémon Unite Presentation Has Already Been Disliked 150,000 Times

Shepdawg1

Honestly, the reception to this presentation is due to a multitude of things, but it can be summed up in three parts: it was overhyped by fans who expected too much, the second presentation was lackluster compared to the first, and the game was poorly presented by The Pokémon Company.

Fans expected too much, like wanting Gen IV remakes or Let's Go for Johto (both of which would also have been met with skepticism for their own reasons, if we're being honest). Not saying those are bad ideas, but they're not appropriate at this time as Sword and Shield DLC seems to be intended to take the place of this year's game. Announcing a main series game would've been a poor move right now.

Second, the presentation was overhyped. After a surprisingly decent first one, people expected the second to be similar, and weren't pleased when it wasn't.

Third, The Pokémon Company shouldn't have given this its own presentation. They should have appended the info to the first presentation, taken out the recorded match, presented it before they did the Isle of Armor bit, and foregone the second one altogether. What drove them to take this strategy is only up to speculation. Did they really think it would work? Did they overestimate the appeal of a MOBA? Did Tencent tell them to present it like that? Who knows.

So truthfully, both sides are to blame here. But the way I see it, the controversy will die down and the sour taste will be left over. This game will probably perform poorly in the West, but excellently in China. I'll try it when it comes out. Maybe I'll like it. Maybe not. But ultimately, it's just Pokémon trying something new. At least they're still experimenting.

Re: New Checkout Bot Targeting Online Switch Stock Is Driving The Resale Market In North America

Shepdawg1

No surprise. Notification and auto-buy bots have been a thing for a long time. They are always used on the hottest items and right now, the Switch is no exception.

All the same, scalpers are terrible people for hoarding supply and reselling just to profit off of unsuspecting individuals. Hopefully supply rebounds and they're left with an abundance of stock that they can't profit off of.
