A brand new trailer has been released in Japan for Pokémon The Movie: Coco, the next upcoming film in the Pokémon franchise.
This will be the 23rd film in the regular Pokémon series and features Ash and Pikachu alongside new character Coco. Mythical Pokémon Zarude makes an appearance, as well as a shiny Celebi. Most of these characters can be seen in the new trailer in addition to fan-favourites Jessie and James, Ash's mum, and more.
Originally, the film was set to arrive in Japanese theatres last month, but the coronavirus pandemic meant that the release date had to be pushed back. It will now release on 25th December 2020.
The animation's looking rather lovely to us, but feel free to share your thoughts with us below. Do you watch the Pokémon films? Will you check this out when it eventually arrives in the west? Let us know in the comments.

One of the few Pokémon movies to get me excited as of late. Power of Us looked boring and Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution offered nothing new apart from a strange 3D animation style. This one looks legit interesting and fun.
@Shepdawg1 Power of Us was actually really good, loaded with heart and gave life to the Pokemon World outside of what we see with Ash due to all the characters and their relationships with Pokemon.
That being said, this looks like it's going to be really really good as well. The anime has really been bringing its A-game in the show and the movies.
At least it’s not in that creepy as f*ck 3D animation. Stick with the 2D please, it looks miles better. Plus that looks like an updated version of Ash’s Johto hat, which is cool.
@Brydontk I definitely agree the show is bringing it. I thought Sun and Moon were fun and had a ton of heart. I then watched Journeys and its fantastic. It's shaping up to being my favorite season
So that what was Miguel's Grandmother was doing all of this time.
So... Pokemon Tarzan?
Oh look Ash has it's old design mostly back...
Meanwhile the regular anime still used the terrible one (Since Sun and Moon)
I'm really enjoying the Pokémon reboot movies, so looking forward to this!!
@nintendope64 more soft reboots would be great, I loved “I Choose You”
I didn’t mind the 3D remake is nice, but prefer 2D animation
@UmbreonsPapa
I totally agree! Journeys is one of the best seasons ever. Even the filler episodes are packed with legitimate laughs and fun dialogue. Ash finally caught a [REDACTED] and the battles are choreographed better than ever, while coming ever closer to representing the way the attacks behave in the games. The show is also filled with fan service with endearing Pokemon moments from all generations and old characters that we haven't seen in forever.
@UmbreonsPapa Oh, I have high high hopes for Pokemon Journeys. It's only 30 episodes or so in and it has exceeded my expectations for how good a pokemon anime can be.
Looks really awesome. But Ash, Pikachu, and Team Rocket feel kinda... how can I say... pointless in this movie. The story is really about the relationship between the boy and the new Lemur-Pokémon.
I wonder if this will affect the next Pokémon anime movie. I'm guessing that we won't get one next year, since this one is releasing extremely late into 2020, with the next one maybe releasing Summer 2022.
@RareFan hopefully they’ll have big roles in this movie, if not than yeah they do seem kinda pointless at least in this trailer
So is this releasing world wide in Dec or just Japan?
