Just picked up a 2DS with Animal Crossing New Leaf which is quite endearing. It's the first title in the series I've played since the Gamecube one and I quite like it. Not sure if I'd buy a new one quite soon as I think New Leaf will last me quite some time, but happy there's a new one coming nonetheless.
I'm a bit late to the party but just bought myself a shiny new 2ds XL so there'll be some serious handheld gaming this weekend. Started with Animal Crossing New Leaf, Link's Awakening (first time playing this in colour!) and Super Mario Land 2.
Just finished Wargroove which was quite fun. Started my second walkthrough of FFX. I remember being quite annoyed by the cheesy characters and dialogue back in the day. Now I just find it so bad it's hilarious, so I'm having a good time so far.
Also just started Banner Saga 2, which I hope will live up to its magnificent predecessor.
Goodness, I've paid about £20 for all three of them on the PS store (and about €140 for the original ones on the Gamecube ). You can only buy the same game so many times so I'm skipping these.
Ditched XCOM 2 on my ps4 as the performance was terrible. Which is a shame, as I'm a fan of the series. I'll probably play some Wargroove and have just started Until Dawn again, where I think I might try to get everyone killed this time around.
@Chrismakem Alas, I used to be a PC gamer but since I nowadays spend my workdays behind my computer I prefer playing on consoles. It's a shame though, might they have had it optimised better for the ps4 I'd definitely play it more. I'm struggling to finish the game once as it now is.
My favourite Final Fantasy after the mighty VI. The writing is quite funny in places and it's a lot more whimsical than the melodramatic X. The music is excellent as well.
@dystome I'm currently playing XCOM 2 on my PS4. I quite like it, but the major thing holding it back in my opinion is that it runs awfully. Screen tearing, sound effects disappearing, a stuttering framerate and massive loading times don't make for a nice experience. I don't want to be a party pooper but it would surprise me if the Switch would handle it a lot better, but one can always hope!
I seem to be one of the few who are a tad disappointed. No news regarding Pikmin, Metroid HD or Grandia. It's a lovely idea that they're remaking my favourite Zelda but I must say I don't like the graphical direction they've taken.
Ah well, there's still a massive backlog to clear!
@ViewtifulJotun I finished the first one yesterday which was absolutely marvellous. A very mature game so to speak. Well written, beautiful graphics, score and sound design and the ending was quite emotional. Something I don't experience often in video games.
This weekend I'll be playing Wargroove some more, and I've also just started Xcom 2.
"Make it more difficult to accidentally end a turn."
Yes please! For some unknown reason (to me) I've done this a couple of times. Difficulty is excellent as it is, not too easy, not too hard. The option to skip battle scenes is not something I'd be using a lot, as I love watching these brilliantly animated sequences.
Still got all three of them in mint condition! The sequel was actually the first one I got (in '92 I think?), and looked marvelous for a gameboy title. Still can whistle some of the tunes!
Hmmm, think I still haven't downloaded Chrono Trigger for some reason. Might have a look and see whether that and any other title not available on the virtual console of the Wii U is worth downloading before the end of the month.
I would have been thrilled about this were it not that I've been given a SNES mini for Christmas. I'd happily trade Demon Crest for my Street Fighter if anyone's interested?
@MeloMan Rent it? As in going to a Blockbustre-esque brick and mortar store to rent stuff for a couple of days? Do these things still exist? Genuine question, as I haven't seen one in at least a decade.
@JayJ "it's available physically on the Xbox and PS4 in all regions" I wish that was the case but Capcom didn't bother about physical releases here in Europe.
What a shame! I've just completed all available parts on my PS4. Might triple-dip on IX, which is my favourite after the almight VI if the price is right.
To be honest I don't really want a new cycle of home consoles anywhere soon. Innovations are to be made within the games, not the hardware in my opinion.
Ah, this one has been on my radar for a good few years. I even bought an original 360 copy, although I never came around playing it. Might have been because I bought a PS4 not long afterwards. Anyway, fingers crossed for a physical release, although it being Capcom, I'm not holding much hope, especially not for us mere mortals here in Europe.
Although I thoroughly enjoyed the 'first' Doom, I felt that the soundtrack was a bit lacking . It might well be because I listen to a lot of extreme metal myself, but to me it sounded a bit too overproduced and lacking in oomph.
Excellent news! Somehow missed this on my 360 so happy to be able to play this on my Switch. Fingers crossed for a rerelease of R Type Final as well, or is that too greedy?
Brie who? There was too much talking in Other M and Metroid Prime 3 already so filling a whole film with talking people wouldn't really work for me. Not that this is going to happen.
For some reason the 3DS is the only main console from Nintendo I've never owned. Might be that nowadays there's hardly any reason for me to game on a mobile device. Still, missing out on a Zelda and Metroid game seems to be something that needs to be rectified one day.
How about a retry from Cartoon Network? I'd love to race around with Ren and Stimpy, Cow and Chicken or I am Weasel. Perhaps even Johnny Bravo or Dexter? Ah, those were the days!
I'll be wrapping up Final Fantasy 7 for the first time in 15 years or so this weekend, which - dare I say it - was a teensy bit disappointing. Other than that some more missions of the excellent Alien Isolation.
Not sure that's the correct use of the 'extemporaneous' adjective? Anyway, good review overall, this one will find a spot on my Christmas list as it looks excellent.
Skies of Arcadia please! Still one of my all-time favourite jrpgs. I've been rooting for a port for ages but it seems like I need to plug in my Dreamcast again if I want to play it again.

Skies of Arcadia! Already chuffed to bits with the Shenmue remaster, but might be even happier with Skies of Arcradia HD.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 16th)
Dusted off my Gamecube and started Pikmin again. Having a wonderful time! Also still playing Link's Awakening and FFX.

Very chuffed about this, DD1 is my most played Switch game next to Odyssey.

Wargroove and Banner Saga for me. Two very different takes on a similar genre, and both fantastic so far!
Re: Review: Wargroove - A Turn-Based Strategy Classic That Intelligent Systems Would Be Proud Of
Yep! First finishing The Banner Saga, but will be downloading this once I'm finished with that.

Does anyone know if hes still around doing videos?

@sikthvash I've read somewhere that it's based on the regular PS2 version unfortunately.

Certainly buying this! Not sure whether to buy it on Switch or on PS4 though, which is its natural habitat.
