Legrand Legacy: Tale of the Fatebound now has a firm release date for Nintendo Switch, officially arriving on the platform on 24th January.
This one aims to transport you back to the "golden era" of PlayStation JRPGs with a familiar, 3D polygon style mixed with a hand-drawn world full of scenery to explore. It was actually announced for Switch back in 2017 - with a "Q1 2019" date locked in even then - after making it through a successful Kickstarter campaign which saw the game launch on PC last year.
You'll be tasked with helping the Fatebounds bring peace to Legrand, facing fearsome creatures, devasting wars, and more along the way. If you want to know a little more about this one, make sure to check out this handy feature list:
Features:
- Engaging, relatable, and tear-jerking storyline.
- Strategic gameplay mechanics including turn-based simultaneous clash QTEs to satisfy your nostalgic itch.
- Command the military might of nations in intense tactical battles.
- Delve deeper into your experience through mini-games, rewarding side quests, and castle rebuilding.
- Craft and configure items and grimoires, upgrade weapons and set your combat formation.
- Immerse yourself with an epic original orchestral soundtrack including music by world famous Emi Evans.
As noted above, Legrand Legacy will arrive on Switch in just a couple of weeks' time on 24th January, priced at $19.99 / £17.99 / 19,99€.

At that price, damn right I might.
This game gives me Baten Kaitos and Shadow Hearts vibes!
"Engaging, relatable, and tear-jerking storyline."
So probably not for me! Does seem alright but there's too many games and too little time anyway.
I played the Alpha Demo when it landed on GameJolt on PC. I enjoyed it.
It is $25 on PC - If 19.99 for Switch this is day 1! I need a cheap hand-held game for FEB
Kingdom Hearts 3 (Jan29) at home and Legrand Legacy (Jan24) on my commute for $80 works for me! 😃
Those ugly PS2 graphics are stunning. Might get this too as I miss those kind of graphics.
The price is right. Now just to wait to see if the review is right.
Well as a drama queen, I am looking forward to this deeply emotional storyline!
I don't want to be that kind of person, but I roll my eyes any time somebody says an RPG's story is going to be "tear-jerking".
@Spectra - Price reflects its "age." Plays pretty much as it is described: A golden age RPG, so it's what is considered basic nowadays.
It's fun if you like RPGs, but it won't be surprising you.
Any word on a physical release?
It looks interesting enough. Got a lot to play ahead of it though...
I'll give them this: that is a trailer that knows exactly what it's doing. If this was a real PS1 era JRPG it would have been 100% prerendered FMV. But no: static field backgrounds, hanging on QTEs, menus... These guys seem to really know what will make the real nostalgia connection.
'Moderate melt'? I'm shaking, I'm shaking...
I have this game on steam and this plays almost like Baten Kaitos. Graphicwise also kinda same. It felt good and the OST is great as well. A game that you will remember for sure
Loved my PS2 at the time and JRPG's are my jam straight in the wish list this goes - releases 4 days before payday - doubt I would have finished Tales of Vesperia by then though
Ohh yeahh my cup of tea
After watching the trailer, I agree with those that say it has a baten kaitos feel. Which means I will pick it up at some point.
You can pay homage to the golden age of jrpgs without replicating those ugly graphics. It literally looks like it was made 15 years ago, low res prerendered backgrounds and all.
Such a low price point is interesting. But it makes me fear that they cut a lot of corners and it will be very mediocre.
I have to agree somewhat with @FarkyValentine , you can pay homage to a style without using low quality, low res assets. This isn't a port of a PS2 game, it is just paying homage to that era.
Am I the only one here who doesn't like the PS2-era graphics that much? This one looks decent but still I'd prefer something more polished. The visuals don't necessary make or break a game but still they matter to me making something more appealing to play.
With so many RPGs at the moment I'm not gonna get this right away but might add it to the backlog if it goes on sale.
