Re: Review: Return To Monkey Island - An Impeccable Encore For An Adventure Gaming Icon

@PineappleLake I do somewhat agree about the UI in that it outright tells you if items can't be combined or used with things. I mean... I guess people might try combining all their items and things anyway when they get stuck but I don't think it needed the "no" symbol. That could have appeared AFTER you tried to do the thing. Plus I miss Guybrush saying "that won't work" and "I can't put those things together"

@WoomyNNYes yeah I don't know... medium gives a smoother experience though it's not necessary for this kind of game so I set it to high.

INSTEAD they should have given attention to the hidden away "writer's cut" option. THAT being turned off is more an issue than the graphics.

I also don't know why this review is suggesting that they're ripping on Curse with the statue thing... and in fact the only game with a multi page spread in the scrapbook is the first game. I don't like the negative way this review begins at all. Even Escape is treated with a modicum of respect in the scrapbook. Like, negative points about the game sure but to suggest the game is hating on its predecessors? It's absolute nonsense.

Re: Psychedelic DOOM-Like 'POST VOID' Shoots For September Release

@VoodooTrumpet it's fine I guess. Problem is they're trying to be like Hotline Miami but Hotline Miami's designer was already well established in the indie circuit. Well... I think they're trying to be like it, maybe all Swedish video games look like this haha

It's kind of hard these days to be an indie developer because the market is becoming oversaturated. You kind of have to do a bit more than "how about a procedurally generated Doom game". Particularly when there are so many Doom clones as it is

Re: Rumour: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 2 Datamine Might Have Revealed Future DLC Tracks

Scapetti

Huh... so according to the banner image leak we had a while back the other DS track is Delfino Square. No Luigi's Mansion? Maybe they didn't like the moving trees...

I'm surprised this DLC of returning courses is actually just as much new stuff and tour stuff. Everyone thought they'd be able to fit in pretty much every retro track.

Between the banner leak, this, and the two tracks hinted at in coconut mall we can pretty much work out all the retro tracks now (well that is assuming they don't change their minds about tracks, which is very possible)

Edit: ohhh, no airship either... I thought that was a 3DS track... boooo. Maybe there was too much in that track, the bullet bills and moles etc. maybe it's one of the mystery tracks but they're undecided because they need to make sure the mario kart 8 CPU's can navigate the tracks... I hope that's what's happening and I hope they pull it off!

@kingbk an all star Disney racer would be cool. They have SO much stuff now. Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Chip n Dale, Scrooge McDuck, Wolverine, Cyclops, Deadpool, Fry, Bender, Leela, The Simpsons, Pixar characters, Family Guy, Bob's Burgers etc etc realised there was too many to keep listing haha

Re: Monkey Island's Creator Seemingly Shuts Down Blog After Personal Attacks

Literally the only thing potentially wrong with the art style is the Link's Awakening eyes he has. Which is a look Guybrush has had in both the original two games and also when he was made young at the end of Curse. This would be a relatively easy fix if they do decide to change it but I do think this reaction is reminiscent of when people saw Wind Waker for the first time.

It's definitely a Wind Waker situation rather than a Sonic movie reaction so I hope they stick to their guns. But either way I'm sure Rex will do what he thinks is best.

Actually I'm pretty sure this was my reaction when I saw Curse's art style for the first time. And that game turned out fantastic. Really it's that beautiful box art of the original games that's to blame for all this. It all goes back to Steve Purcell... damn him

Re: Return To Monkey Island Launching First For Consoles On Switch

@stereobread I guess they're just referring to how this is meant to be Gilbert's Monkey Island 3 but this one is clearly set after the others as it has Murray and even shows a picture of Elaine fighting Morgan from Tales.

I'd be happy with a re-release of the first three games. Tales would be cool if they combine it into one adventure, and bring back the Earl Boen chapter 1 redub that weirdly only exists in the physical copies of the game

@Ontrevant not magic, he made it with Florian who was the sole programmer... why do you keep writing stuff without checking the facts? You clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

Most of the things in your other post make ZERO sense. "Everyone begged him to stop adding them" what?! Not only is that completely incorrect but you say there were three updates and there were in fact FIVE booster packs. And what glitches and bugs are you specifically referring to that remained unfixed for "five" years?! Not only are there none of significance but it was actually less than three years between the last Afterbirth+ update and Repentance. I do not recall any hideous game breaking bugs that needed to be fixed in that time.

And finally it's not McMillan it's McMillen, learn the guy's name at least. Not a programmer, he's the designer.

T-Speed is right, it's been on sale before, quite a few times
