Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom: Where Does It Fit In The Zelda Timeline?

@Giancarlothomaz the imprisoning war mentioned in this game is actually referring to an event that took place before skyward sword (think the imprisoned). It is possible that the imprisoning war has actually lasted since ancient times since in skyward sword it was a repeated event to keep the imprisoned in check. I think it refers to the overall never ending war against Ganon

@betterman I really don't think it's necessary personally. But hey, if it confused you, I don't know... I guess they could have added a flashback scene of them both meeting during the Peaches song. Would have worked. But I still think it's fine the way it is. He has a picture of her on his piano... he knows her, she knows him, they've already met 🤷‍♂️ It's never established how they know each other in the games either

Re: Miyamoto Thinks Mario Movie's Critical Reception Contributed To The "Buzz"

@AstroTheGamosian it was explained. He said about ruling the kingdoms together. It was a power play. And also... he just liked her, I don't know why you need more motivation than that. Is she not attractive? Unique? Powerful? Why does he need to tell you/the audience why he likes her? This goes back to my point about spoon feeding... unnecessary

And I'm not sure why you added the part about your experience writing, not sure if that was meant to suggest I lack experience in that area, or to imply that you have better knowledge than me. Because you really shouldn't make such assumptions about someone you don't know.

And besides, anyone can have creativity. You don't necessarily need experience. Just imagination and inspiration

One of my favourite easter eggs/reference in the movie is that the first part of the film went from world 1-1 to 1-4. With the more obvious 1-1 reference of Mario & Luigi running through Brooklyn. Going underground to 1-2. Mario jumping on tall mushrooms in 1-3 and then 1-4 Luigi jumping over the lava and a castle (it even did a riff on the 1-4 music). I just thought that was such a cool thing that not everyone would pick up on.

@Clyde_Radcliffe Luigi went from being a coward who always gets his brother to protect him, to jumping in front of Mario and saving him instead. That is character development. Mario who kept screwing up at his work, finally succeeded due to his unwillingness to quit, and made his father proud, that is character development. Not sure what people mean honestly... I feel like I watched a different movie

I just got the impression it was too fast paced for some people, so they imagined plot holes in their head that didn't exist. Things weren't spoonfed. They were suggested throughout. And clearly critics need things to be spoonfed more than a general audience it seems. Peach meets another human like her, of COURSE she's going to be very interested to know about him. That's what the whole "who is this guy?" "He's not important!" exchange is all about.

She put a lot of weight on her shoulders. All these ***** toads she needs to protect but she knows they are hopeless. Says she will get the Kong's help and acts all strong but she doesn't really feel that, she knows they won't listen to her. She just puts on a good show. So yeah, when this guy comes along and makes it past her guards she's like "huh... maybe he can help me and also, I'm very interested in who this guy is. Maybe he can help me find out where I come from" etc.

The whole rainbow road thing... again... a blink and you'll miss it plot. Bowser basically says one line about it, "they're taking a secret passage to surprise me? two can play at that game" or something like that. And he ambushes them. So that plan FAILS. That's why it didn't go anywhere. They all got captured. If anyone's played New Super Mario Bros U (though they don't have to anyway). They would know that rainbow paths are created as shortcuts when exiting from a secret exit. THAT's what that was. A shortcut to Bowser, but he noticed. Simple. Easy to understand. Just pay attention to the movie...

As for the whole "there's only one super star" thing. It absolutely never says that in the film. Clearly some people just didn't like that Bowser said "I finally found it". A simple fix... "I finally found it, a super star" that's ALL you need to do in your head. And why shouldn't Bowser want to use a super star? They ARE rare, and it would absolutely be something he is after.

I don't know, I'm ranting a bit. But few of the critiques made sense to me. The film had ONE issue to me. It was too damn fast. And that's a common issue with animation. And I get why. So it's a free pass for me

Re: Sunsoft's Classic Platformer Trip World Will Get New Colour Re-Release On Switch, GB And GBC

Scapetti

This is fantastic and I love that they partnered with toruzz to make the DX version! But... the switch copy shouldn't be that expensive... I don't think this price is "affordable" at $34.99 when you consider that it was available for purchase on the 3DS virtual console for 10x cheaper until very recently :/

Like they'll make you think that this pricing is okay because a physical copy of the gameboy release is hundreds but for the switch version at least it's not a good deal. Maybe it is just a pricing issue with the physical copy and it will be more reasonable digitally. But this game should really just be part of the NSO service.

Paying that price for physical game boy copies is fine though, I don't mind that

Edit:

From the website: "Museum mode containing never-before-seen design documents, video interviews with the original developer, music video, box scans, and much more.
Music player featuring original remastered audio tracks, brand new arrangements, and a surprise track from another cult Sunsoft classic title!"

Oh okay, maybe the pricing isn't SO bad then!

Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Multiplayer Mod YouTube Videos Are Getting Copyright Strikes

Scapetti

@NCChris This is wrong, mods are considered derivative works and legally you require permission from the copyright holder first. It was the final ruling in this court case and still applies today https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micro_Star_v._FormGen_Inc.

The only reason stuff like steam workshop is allowed is because the developers are giving permission. Nintendo have never given such permission. Everyone and their aunt knows that Nintendo does not permit mods for their work

Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Multiplayer Mod YouTube Videos Are Getting Copyright Strikes

Scapetti

The simple solution is to ask the copyright holder for permission before creating derivative works Not sure why everyone thinks this is fair use. It is absolutely not and video game companies have won legal cases about this multiple times in the past.

The exception being the game genie because it didn't actually add anything to the existing code.

It's really quite simple... if you want to make a mod, ASK first. If you're too afraid to ask, out of fear of not being granted permission, then you already know you're doing something dodgy. Copyright law is there to protect us.

If this happened to a small indie developer where someone made a profit off of someone else's work, it would be a whole different story. So big corporation or not, they are setting an essential precedent to protect smaller companies. Plus this guy has millions of subscribers and paid 10k to modders, it's whatever, he'll be fine

@Rottytops what is happening here? Did I miss something? We hate Nintendo now? And they hate us? I'm out for the night... I can already sense this comment section kicking off.

I guarantee this article is going to be full of "comments removed" in the morning. When the reality is that this article should be removed for encouraging arguments amongst its visitors.
