There's a new Pixar movie! But it's pretending to be a very old Pixar movie! Lightyear is a sort of Toy Story prequel, you see — it's the "real life" movie that Buzz Lightyear would be based off. So, even though it's a 2022 movie, it's pretending to be a space movie from the '70s or '80s, right? Yeah.
Anyway! As part of the movie's launch, it's coming to Minecraft, which is a real game that is modern and not from the 20th century.
The DLC comes with a story:
In the Lightyear DLC, you get to play through Buzz’s origin story and help him navigate an alien planet after an unfortunate crash landing. You can play through five missions as this Academy-trained hero, including a hostile jungle, a swamp, and a mine, as well as various alien settlements. Throughout each mission, you have to navigate the terrain while fighting enemies and several bosses using various gadgets. Between missions, you get to fly different aircraft and must avoid obstacles to safely get to your next objective. Even though “safely” is a very relative term on an inhospitable alien planet.
It's not available on the Nintendo Switch just yet, but Mojang assure us it will be available "soon".
Is there a snake in your boot? Has someone poisoned the waterhole? Let us know in the comments.

Shame Minecraft DLC basically isn't playable on the switch due to the stupid 2GB save storage limits...

You can download it here!
What kind of Nintendo Life witchcraft allows us to download something that isn't available yet? 🤷

@Goat_FromBOTW haven't watched the movie, I don't like that you called minorities "identity politics", and I don't like taking reviews as fact, but I seriously hope that the movie is actually good, I'm scared to know if you're right or not.
@nessisonett @HotGoomba @PBandSmelly Sorry, I was somewhat unclear about my “identity politics” remark. I just meant that it didn’t really make sense in the context that this was in-universe, a 90’s movie. It wasn’t really a complaint about the gay characters and stuff and more a complaint that the framing device of the movie doesn’t make any sense given the artstyle and content of the movie are both mismatched with what 90’s movies were really like. I wasn’t really saying it shouldn’t have been in the film, just that it kind of clashed with the setup of the movie.

@Goat_FromBOTW just so long as we stay on topic. And don't resort to insults... we'll be fine.
You are a sad, strange little man, and you have my pity. Farewell!
@Goat_FromBOTW yup movie was trash. Stick with Toy Story. Nothing wrong with gay, green skin, or whatever, but you can tell the script for the movie was more focused on making sure all the checkmarks were met then an actual good script
Someone has indeed poisoned the waterhole, that much is evident.
