Original Article: Fri 8th Jul, 2022 16:20 BST:
It looks like the latest entry to the Nickelodeon Kart Racer franchise has been leaked via a retailer listing from Best Buy. The sequel to Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix will be called Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway and will launch later this year on October 7th, 2022.
That's weird, right? Video games never leak..! Guffaw!
Anyway, the news gathered speed when it was reported by known game enthusiast Wario64 and has since been reported by multiple outlets (thanks to GoNintendo for this one!):
As for what Slime Speedway will look like, we don't quite know yet, but we do have reasonably extensive information on the game via the listing. Here are a few of the highlights:
- The game will include a cast of over 40 characters
- You can transform your kart or bike into watercrafts to traverse various terrain
- "Millions" of customisation options boasted
- 36 different tracks featured
- 90 Crew Members
- Multiplayer via split-screen local or online play
The first two Nickelodeon Kart Racer titles are available on Switch, and while we thought the first entry was kinda pants, the sequel did a heck of a lot to improve on the initial attempt, getting a respectable 7/10 in our review. How the third entry will fair is anyone's guess at this stage.
Hopefully we'll get an official announcement on Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway sooner rather than later.
What do you think? Are you up for more Nickelodeon racing action? Let us know in the comments!

Oh, wait.
On PS5 too?! 😯
My PS5 games is growing quickly from upcoming 3rd party multi console kids games. 😊
"You can transform your kart or bike into watercrafts to traverse various terrains"
Something that Mario Kart still never done.
I feel like there are too many of these being released in a short window. Like they could patch in voice acting to the old one and maybe add a few new characters and keep it moving.
At this rate Nickelodeon Kart Racers 9 will release before Mario Kart 9.
It would be cool if Doug was on this one, but likely since he's now a Disney character, we won't get to see him. Too bad, Disney hasn't done anything with that franchise since that movie came out in 2000.
It also would be cool if they could somehow get human characters from Nickelodeon as characters. Play as Marc Summers, or Barth from You Can't Do That On Television, or Mr. Wizard, or Jeff the living mannequin from Today's Special.
(I know, I'm showing my age here, haha).
@Ryu_Niiyama yeah Nickelodeon seems to be pushing their nostalgic characters hard lately. Hopefully all the projects remain decent though.
why isn't this DLC? I bought 2 and didn't touch it yet.
Voice acting? Welp, that's already a marked improvement over Kart racers 2 here!
@kingbk Maybe add (Game Over) kid or the Game Wizards from Nick Arcade.
I'm surprised the last two made enough profits to warrant a third one!
@Broosh I'm surprised the first one even made a profit at all!
This could easily become an expansion for the first two games.
Let's goooo! The second one was actually really solid! I was disappointed there weren't racers from franchises like Fairly OddParents and Jimmy Neutron, but hopefully they'll fix that in this one. It has at least 10 more characters and 8 more tracks than the previous game, which is a nice glowup. I'd really like to see this game supported with post-launch DLC as well.
The second game introduced a "Pit Crew" that functioned just like Spirits in Smash Ultimate. You select 3 JPEGS of characters to assist you while racing, and each one has their own stats befitting of that character. If you equip Sokka, for example, you have an increased chance of picking up boomerang items. It added an interesting layer of strategy that made it feel like more than your run-of-the-(game)mill Mario Kart clone. Unlike the Spirits in Smash that no one ever used outside of World of Light, the Pit Crew is an incredibly fun way to play.
Kart Racers 2 wasn't exactly a visual marvel, with many characters having ugly character models and some stages looking like a PS2 game. So if this one has a higher production value to make the visuals more polished, I'm actually fine with this being a sequel and not a DLC expansion.
I'll probably wait for a sale though; it definitely sounds like there's enough content to warrant the $50 price tag, but with Mario Kart getting a whole bunch of DLC this year, it makes the game not quite as high of a priority.
Anyways, when are we gonna hear more about Cosmic Shake? I expected a gameplay reveal during "E3" month. Wonder if it's been delayed to 2023...
Did enough people buy the last two games to warrant a third game? I don’t think I heard anyone ask for a third one to come out this fast after the last game.
@pikmin_4 The first game sucked, but the second was actually pretty great. I'm excited for this.
These games got better with each installment, which I know there are only two, but it’s still progress.
Before you know it we'll also have Nickelodeon All-Stars Brawl 2.
i wanna put the spongebob 'i dont need it' but idk how :/
Me and my son had a blast on 2. Will wait for reviews but am optimistic about this.
I got the second game for my oldest, cause Ninja Turtles. I thought it was alright... I guess. I didn't hate it, I just have no reason to really play it with the far superior Mario Kart 8 on Switch.
@kingbk Sweet Christ, I’d play just about any game featuring Marc Summers.
@pikmin_4 The 2 Nick kart racers (yes, that also means the first one!) has been constantly on the upper(or -ish at least) tiers of the great sales eshop page so I can assume that these made bank.
@pikmin_4 Most likely they're trying to cash in on the hype left from Nickelodeon all star brawl. If it's better than the 2nd Kart racer then it might actually be worth a pick up...
Honestly it sounds so weird but if the second kart racers had voice acting i would still be playing it alongside mario kart, with no characters saying anything it just ends up feeling dead and lifeless, can’t wait to see that fixed in this release!
I still remember NickToons Racing on PC and PS1 and it had voice acting!
I had a good time with Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2 single player campaign.
Did... did it actually take them 3 games to add character voices? For Nickelodeon characters?? Ugh...
At least they're going the route where the vehicles change mid-race. Loved Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed and felt that made the tracks more memorable.
They put in Rocko. It makes me wonder if we'll see his model ported to Source Filmmaker. I mean, it would make for some good fun to be had with him. I mean, the Source Filmaker Program is a very dangerous program.
40 characters sounds great. I hope they included some forgotten shows such as The Angry Beavers, Catscratch, My Life as a Teenage Robot, and Jimmy Neutron. Also, they should add characters from The Fairly OddParents, I'm surprised, that this popular cartoon is always left out from this big crossovers. Must be a licence issue.
Add the Face from Nick Jr and Little Bear you cowards
I would lose it if Little Bear showed up. For that matter I want a Babar racing game. I’m owning everyone as Celeste.
i'm gonna wait for this one to release, thankfully i haven't tried out the other ones..was gonna go and get the 2nd one but knowing this - just makes it even more better to just wait.
i hope they add sam from danny phantom or danny, xj9, jimmy neutron, timmy turner, vicky man - i miss the oldies..not found of new nick - i wonder if they can even have monster high since they do now have property rights over the movie that is about to release with them and paramount plus O_O...imagine the dlc for MH oh jeez that would be super cute <3
Cool. Hopefully it doesn't suck. Sounds jam packed. Glad they adding voices this time around.
Heck if they letting your vehicle change, might as well include a plane like Diddy kong racing, and an adventure mode like it too lol.
These games are coming out like hotcakes, I thought the second one came out just yesterday.
Really needs the voice acting. They've seen sense. It looked and felt a bit soulless when I saw gameplay footage of 1 & 2. With source material, should be anything but! Would definitely need (reliable reviwer) reviews because I was a bit far from sold by the first twos' reviews.
I hope these Nickelodeon crossover games would have some Paramount-owned non-Nickelodeon characters like Movie Sonic and Maverick from Top Gun.
These Nickelodeon crossovers could also have some Disney characters, with Doug and Indiana Jones having some history with Paramount despite being Disney-owned characters now.
This is what happens when we don't get a new MK game for 8 years after they usually release about every 3. Chocobo Racing, Disney Speedstorm, Nick, that Ryan kid. Nature abhors a vacuum.
@Abeedo Don't know if you care but your comment has been liked 27x, I think that's pretty much the equivalent of "going viral" on NL.👍
@TheMelodiusRose The second one was legitimately really good. I'm excited for it.
I've said it before, but I really don't like when Nintendo Life updates old articles instead of making new ones. When there are already dozens of comments from days or even weeks ago, it dissuades me from participating in the discussion because I feel like most people aren't gonna dig through the comments to find where the new ones begin.
Oh well, Mario kart had a good innings..
@TheMelodiusRose
The only thing mediocre about it to me were the visuals. Some stages looked visually unpolished even by PS2 standards, and some of the character models were not that great. I don't think SpongeBob even has a modeled tongue. The CPUs also felt impossible on harder difficulties. But there was a lot of content, and I thought the gameplay was top-notch. The Pit Crew added an extra layer of strategy, and it felt way more meaningful than the Spirits in Smash Ultimate.
Great fanservice, too. As a big Avatar fan, I loved how you could customize your car exhaust with blue flames and the name of it was "Azula." And how using Sokka as one of your Pit Crew members increases the likelihood of getting boomerangs as items. I felt like there was a lot of love put into it, just not given the budget it deserved. Same with NASB, which is another game I really adore. Certainly better than the garbage Nickelodeon had been pumping out for years like SpongeBob HeroPants. That game doesn't even have background music, lol. Probably an ET scenario where they had like one week to program the game. I'm just thankful we aren't in that timeline of shovelware anymore.
@kingbk an all star Disney racer would be cool. They have SO much stuff now. Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Chip n Dale, Scrooge McDuck, Wolverine, Cyclops, Deadpool, Fry, Bender, Leela, The Simpsons, Pixar characters, Family Guy, Bob's Burgers etc etc realised there was too many to keep listing haha
I see the budget for this increased significantly
@Scapetti Unfortunately, Disney's kart racer is going to be free to play. (disregard, if you were aware) We'll see if Disney can do better than Chocobo GP.
Disney: Speedstorm

@WoomyNNYes I forgot that was coming out
I’m actually pretty stoked for this, and my god they are making them fast lol.
@WoomyNNYes There was a closed beta, ai got in but I forgot I did, so what I’m saying is that I really wish I could tell you how the game played ):
I really only care about the voice acting and the characters present. Either way if I get it, I will wait for a sale.
Meh unless it's a crash tag team racing remake or a new mario kart I'm not really interested
@rjejr My existence has on this site has finally been validated haha.
@Abeedo 36, that might be everyone in the comments. I know there are 51, soon to be 52, but a lot of people have multiple posts. Enjoy your newfound fame.🎇
@Ryu_Niiyama remember my previous post here where I said...
"Hopefully all the projects remain decent though."?
Welp now they're making nicktoon nfts.
@Eel lmao! Gotta chase the trends I guess.
