Re: GTA Trilogy Is Very Close To Receiving The Worst Ever Switch User Review Score On Metacritic

@Guitario I honestly don't know what needs to be patched... there's a grass area you can fall through but the game does a really good job of having so when you fall through you appear up right and back in the game with no problem. And it's just so strange because it's like they were aware of it and deliberately kept it in, but fixed the issue instead by having you respawn. So I'm thinking it's part of a glitch in the original which allows you to get to the second island early, which they decided to keep in the game rather than patch because they know there are speedrunners who love this stuff (see the Mario 64 backwards long jump glitch that was removed from Mario All Stars).

The game COULD have a slightly better framerate but I'm guessing this is more to do with how things load. In fact it appears to me, that the more you play the game the more the framerate seems to improve. And I checked the original and it has the same choppy framerate so again, looks like they kept the original programming. Probably to keep glitches and things in tact.

So yeah, I don't know what they should patch. I worry that if they patched pop in it would make rage missions impossible to complete. I guess there's that rain issue and the lack of fog which could be patched. But other than that I don't really want any changes. Unless they are optional

@Zenszulu I honestly don't know why people think the game has simply been AI upscaled. Foliage is completely improved. Character models have been completely revamped. This wasn't an AI and that is clear. People are honestly just hating because they expected more. People should see it for what it is. Ports of the the original trilogy, warts and all, with slight graphic enhancements (better foliage, higher resolution textures) and quality of life improvements such as waypoints and gyro aiming. This is what I expected, this is what I got, and I am satisfied

Re: GTA Trilogy Is Very Close To Receiving The Worst Ever Switch User Review Score On Metacritic

As I commented on the other article. Pop in is not a legitimate issue and would totally change the game. These old games have really small maps with vehicles that only spawn in really small areas. If vehicles popped in early it would make import/export almost impossible to complete as you would have to travel half way across the map to despawn cars you don't need. I get that it is an issue for some people but it's one thing I'm glad they didn't mess with and I guarantee that if they did change it, it would be included as an issue anyway when people post about how these missions are now impossible. That is one problem that no matter what they do there would have been complaints so I'm glad they just kept it like the original.

The only problem with this game was bad marketing. This game is literally the same as the originals with all the same bugs and glitches. Ridiculously high expectations ruined this game.

Nintendolife's review on here doesn't even mention really basic quality of life improvements such as adding waypoints which the original was lacking. It's like the reviewer just didn't remember the original didn't have that! In fact most of their points in their review make me think they either have a defect copy of the game or their nostalgia glasses are completely broken. It does not deserve the score it was given. This is a collection of three classic GTA games, warts and all. People just expected too much. Which, I don't even know why, because as soon as they said it was coming out on the switch I knew these would be basic ports. Still great games though

Re: Review: A Boy and His Blob - An Experience That Has Aged Gracefully

Scapetti

@somebread one was overhyped and the other is a boy and his blob. I'm enjoying GTA a lot and I personally found this boy and his blob remake to be too huge a departure from the original NES game. It's essentially a retelling. I'd give this a 6 and GTA a 7/10 due to the sheer amount of content you get with three GTA games. But that's just me. And it's not like 7/10 is a great score. I usually only buy games with a 9+ score, 8 at a push. But 4 was ridiculous and undeserved. There's no way this game is twice as good. I was never compelled to finish it, as it seems nor were the developers. I mean the guy above said the game crashed multiple times on them. That's not an 8/10 game... if you think this game is going to be better than a collection of three GTA classics which will no doubt receive patches anyway then... well... I don't know. Kinda odd

Re: GTA Trilogy Could Be This Year's 'Cyberpunk 2077' As Rockstar Is Flooded With Refund Requests

Scapetti

The things people are complaining about don't make sense. Like people complain about cars appearing in front of you. If they changed this it would completely ruin the game. The ability to turn the camera around to change visible cars is a lifesaver when it comes to the import export side mission. And yeah they COULD have changed this. But I for one am glad they didn't. It's like... you have people complaining about Mario 64 not having the backwards long jump glitch. It'd be like that but tenfold. This game is warts in tact. That's what they decided on and I'm glad for it.

Re: GTA Trilogy Dataminers Find Missing Music In Code As Problems Mount For 'Definitive' Release

Also... just want to say. I miss the days when there wasn't a new article every half an hour. And I feel like some of you guys don't even really like Nintendo. Not saying names, that's up to you guys. But there are some people writing articles that get a lot more controversy than others... that is an issue and is turning off older readers in favour of this new more toxic variety

Re: GTA Trilogy Dataminers Find Missing Music In Code As Problems Mount For 'Definitive' Release

Scapetti

Far too many articles on this website are annoying me lately. Didn't you guys recently post about how it's not appropriate to call developers lazy? And how it's better to explain what the problems are rather than just saying a few unhelpful words. So then why yesterday did you post a video and simply put "grand theft oh no". Better post that review up soon or you guys are just being hypocrites.

Telling people not to do the same behaviour you are actually encouraging from your readers with posts like this. Maybe you guys are becoming the problem? Just a thought...

Re: Review: Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy: Cloud Version - A Disastrous Way To Play A Great Game

Scapetti

Thought I would test this after seeing this review. At first I thought this review was exaggerating as there was no lag as such. But the framerate was pretty abysmal. It feels like it's running natively on the switch which is silly because you should be able to have beautiful looking solid 60fps experiences over the cloud as you're not limited by the hardware. This feels like 10fps. Anyway, so I thought it was... okay, just really bad fps and then... it completely froze! The music carried on but the game froze. Now, I love cloud gaming. I've been playing xbox cloud on my mac, recently finished psychonauts 2 which is an amazing game. And that was beautiful with a solid 60fps. And other cloud games on the switch have fared better too. This is just a really bad cloud version. I don't know why it's so bad but it is. It really is broken. No game should freeze like that and not come back.

Re: Nintendo Switch Online's N64 Games Need Some Work

Scapetti

@swoose wow really? Okay... so basically there's no merit to any of these faults. That water temple one was the only one that seemed like it had some substance. I mean the controller pak issue is one too but at least it was the same on the virtual console and even on the n64 you couldn't have both rumble and a controller pak

Re: Nintendo Switch Online's N64 Games Need Some Work

Scapetti

@PJOReilly just seen the update. I still think it's incorrect honestly. It still forgets to mention that ZL can be used to shoot.

The idea behind it is that if you use the left stick to aim you use the ZL button and if you use the right stick to aim you use the ZR button. This is how it would be on the n64 controller as you could never otherwise use the trigger. ZR is simply not meant to be used when you use the left stick to aim. The N64 controller doesn't even have ZR. It's an extra mapping for convenience so should be seen as a benefit rather than a hinderance.

Re: Nintendo Switch Online's N64 Games Need Some Work

Scapetti

@PJOReilly all I could ask for! Apologies for the tone. It was the "100%" thing that irked me most of all. I guess "categorically untrue" is a little nicer than saying it's BS but that's all I meant by it haha. I wasn't trying to be mean or offensive. I was just miffed myself

Re: Nintendo Switch Online's N64 Games Need Some Work

Scapetti

@riccyjay I love how PJ just said he's done with me rather than acknowledging the mistake. Like, he will comment on the other stuff and defend himself but if it comes to acknowledging a mistake nope. Gets angry because I said "BS". Like... was what I said really that bad? Does it really matter the manner in which it is delivered? Gee whizz... why is everyone so afraid of saying "sorry, I was wrong, I will correct that"

Re: Nintendo Switch Online's N64 Games Need Some Work

Scapetti

@AG_Awesome well this is what I'm saying. The right control stick is NOT the c buttons for this game. Because Nintendo actually bothered to have different control schemes per game. But for some reason journalists are too lazy to check this so sin and punishment is actually fine and not broken. I was having a blast with it last night

Re: Nintendo Switch Online's N64 Games Need Some Work

Scapetti

@PJOReilly look into sin and punishment because your 100% confirmation is complete BS. The N64 didn't even have a ZR. ZR is intended to be used when you use the right control stick which is to simulate holding the n64 control stick with your right hand and the d-pad to strafe. If you use the left stick to aim you are meant to use ZL, as that's where the trigger would be on an N64 controller.

Re: Nintendo Switch Online's N64 Games Need Some Work

Scapetti

@AG_Awesome you don't need to do that, because they've already mapped the right control stick for this game. So you can use the d-pad to strafe, the right stick to aim and ZR to shoot.

OR, you use the left stick to aim, ZL to shoot and X and Y to strafe.

These aren't lazy ports. They did actually care to make sure the control schemes work. But this is lazy journalism where they didn't bother to check this despite "100% confirming".

Re: Nintendo Switch Online's N64 Games Need Some Work

Scapetti

Okay I just want to say that the sin and punishment controls are not an issue at all. You can use d-pad to strafe, and you can use ZL to shoot (which doesn't remap the face buttons). If you suspend the game and check the controls you won't have an issue.

So 100% confirm my ass. I was having a blast with it last night
