Re: Preview: Using amiibo with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

SavoirFaire

@rjejr shhhh stop asking obvious questions 😉

I have accepted the fact that Nintendo is going to for some bizzare reason avoid the most obvious use of the amiibos: sandbox games and the like. I will be pleasantly surprised if they don't, and thrilled if they venture into sports games with them (which is my hope).

Re: Collectors Be Warned, Some amiibo Figures Will Be "Limited-Time" Offers

First of all I'll believe we are getting every character in smash when I see it. They've got a good two years to milk this rotating of the roster. If Amiibo bombs then I don't expect they'll go through with the whole roster.

Second, it is beyond time for an amiibo direct. $13 a pop for a souped up computer fighter in smash is a bit much. $13 for whatever this gets us in other games may be a bit much too, but without knowing what that is, we have to go on Nintendos track record which is... Not so good. Amiibos have a lot of potential, and it seems Nintendo is blowing the hype just like they blew the launch of the Wii U.

That said, I'm likely buying a half dozen total at launch and ummm second launch, knowing full on almost nothing about them. Would be great to actually know other things they will do.

Re: Nintendo Returns to Profit as Wii U Sales Show Signs of Life

I'm happy to hear positive news but I am also realistic: Nintendo will be the "outsider" console forever (until/unless sony or MS give up). Anyone that thinks Nintendos next console will get any more 3rd party support than the Wii U is delusional: we will hear the same excuses gen after gen. They are not actively trying to compete with sony or ms, and the last time they did (arguably) was the GameCube, and ppl hold that up as a model of failure!

Enjoyed the dirext and I am re-sold on getting the package with the adapter.

However one thing I did take away from this dirext is the Wii U version is not done, and is in essence being released too early to hit holidays. Don't really have a huge problem with that myself.

At least the internet didn't let me down: get mewtwo, complain. 3ds version is now garbage. All nice and predictable!

Re: Link amiibo Compatibility Confirmed for Hyrule Warriors

SavoirFaire

From the article:
"As Link's the only compatible figurine so far, it opens the possibility that some games will be character-specific, as opposed to supporting the whole range" Are there really going to be people going "I brought my DK Amiibo! I want DK as playable in Zelda U!1!!1!!" ? I hope not, but this is the internet after all...

I REALLY hope nobody thinks that any game, aside from smash, is going to "support" all the Amiibos! Not that Nintendo is helping with their marketing and information campaign on the subject...

As I have said countless (ok maybe 5) times, Nintendo needs to make sports franchises that utilize the Amiibo's + stock characters as the players. Do something to break EA's stranglehold on sports franchises!

@Grumblevolcano thanks I have already purchased the dlc, so looking forward to it.

For the topic at hand, I will be getting pretty much anything rare releases on the wii u VC, so will definitly pick these up. Do think it is odd that we still have zero news for n64 titles. Hopefully support will be a holiday surprise this year.

Re: Cancelled Mario Volleyball/Wrestling Wii Title Comes to Light

I really hope we get some amiibo related sports games. I dislike the hyper-realistic sports games we have now (as well as EA...) and would enjoy making an amiibo sports team. Peach, Zelda, Rosalina, Samus and Daisy would make a great basketball team with their mastery of the fundamentals. No dunking, sadly.
