Re: Star Fox on Wii U to Support Local Co-Op With GamePad Player as Gunner

SavoirFaire

@ShigKirby don't get me wrong I think uprising is a great game, but I feel the controls make it a bit too hard to get into. It is of course a comment about my own personal experiences, but I haven't beat uprising mainly because the controls are too hard for me (big hands/small 3ds, or maybe lack of circle pad pro). I'd hate to see the controls be a turn off for the star fox game. I can play a day or two and hurting hands end up getting the best of me.

My worry is star fox u will end up the same: a solid game that is set back bc of wonky or tricky controls. As has already been pointed out in these comments, perhaps the hush hush of the title was Nintendo testing the waters of the controls at e3.

Re: Mario Kart Month: Nintendo Life's Team Shares Its Early Thoughts on Mario Kart 8

SavoirFaire

Really enjoy the game, a very solid 9/10. I think everyone has covered the same complaints I have: no map on main screen, roster issues, too short Rainbow Road (N64 version) and I didn't care for the new battle mode (though I admit, I don't do much battle mode anyway, so it is always underwhelming), and all in all, I think they are minor quips.

The good thing: they could solve all of my gripes with minor patches/DLC!

My biggest gripe now: how do I play single player with a different controller? I am a wiimote/nunchuk guy on MK, and although I wouldn't call the gamepad bad, it is not my first choice.

Re: Pikmin 3 Update Adds New Stylus Control Style

SavoirFaire

Pikmin 3 is a real gem of a game. My only complaints were it was too short and no online multiplayer. I'd highly recommend it to anyone, especially if you have good local multiplayer options.

I will be picking up wii party u as it is the only game the offer in the US that I don't have already.

Re: Guide: Getting Started in Mario Kart 8

SavoirFaire

I find the lack of King Boo disturbing...

On a serious note, I swear I read somewhere there were actually 5 weight classes, not 3, which smoothed the roster out a bit evenly between weight classes. Perhaps it was just a hypothetical thing though, as I can't find it again.

Re: Mario Kart Month: Keeping the Mario Kart 8 Race Going With DLC

SavoirFaire

I am in the minority as I don't care much for the arenas, but it couldn't hurt to add them. Expect massive outrage if Nintendo does add them, as they were "Taken out" of the game to make money...

I'd love to see one more 4 new/4 retro set with the tracks and of course more karts would be great, in spite of how many great ones are already in the game.

However, I think a character DLC pack would be the best selling of them all. A "retro" pack with all the of the characters that have ever been in a MK game, and a "new" pack with nothing but first-timers.

Overall, I think a Thanksgiving/Christmas timing on a DLC pack would be ideal. It gives enough time for people to really enjoy the game, and not feel cheated. Barring of course those that feel cheated for any DLC whatsoever, you cant make everyone happy.

Re: Nintendo Download: 15th May (North America)

SavoirFaire

Finally! I know the name of Adventures of Lolo! I remember borrowing that from a friend back in the day but could not recall the name to save my life! Not a bad game from my recollection.

Picking up scram kitty without a doubt, in spite of my embarrassingly large backlog!

Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo Figurine Platform Could be a Vital Money-Spinner

SavoirFaire

I hope whatever game this all fits into is high enough quality to warrant the purchases. If this is a decent quality figure in a crummy sandbox, no thanks!

Also I don't want to see 15 forms of Mario (fire flower, taniooki, boomerang, etc) and 1 form (or worse, zero) of everyone else.

As was also mentioned, no blind packaging of anything. I don't want to gamble on what I already expect to be $10ish items!

Re: Mario Kart Month: Mario Kart 8 Character Profiles: Koopalings Galore

SavoirFaire

I find the lack of King Boo disturbing...

Hopefully we get an article on the forgotten racers that didn't get a nod in MK8. I am still hopeful for DLC (and expect that to generate a lot of heated discussion if it does occur).

I'm not big on metal or baby characters but I can understand they have their fans. What about Fawful for a lightweight? He'd make a good New racer, as well as Bowser Jrs mom

Re: Nintendo Reports Financial Losses As Expected, Along With Modest Wii U Sales Targets

SavoirFaire

Shame to hear this news, but I'm not sure what else Nintendo can do this generation except weather the storm. Making a new console isn't a short term project, and rushing the next one isn't helpful either. 3rd party support has become a chicken/egg excuse from 3rd party devs, and there is no reason to believe it would change with the next console, since it pretty much happened with the Wii as well.

Thing is, I just read bad news about Sony and MS just recently as well. Bad news sells. Also there's an inordinate amount of people that have this Hatedom relationship with Nintendo, who knows why. I just hope they keep putting out great games for as long as they are able.

Re: Mario Golf: World Tour’s DLC Isn't Locked Away in the Main Game

SavoirFaire

@shinokami
Don't bother. Some people will believe it is a scam by Nintendo, no matter what anyone says, and despite any proof beyond the fact DLC exists. The X-Files had less convoluted conspiracies than some of the DLC theories you will likely hear in this thread! Anyone that thinks this Mario Golf DLC discussion gets heated, just wait until (if) there is Mario Kart 8 DLC!

I picked up the season pass and am really enjoying this game. I also am horrible, but I hope to get better

Re: Nintendo Direct: Special Mario Kart 8 Direct Shows New Features, Racers And Items

SavoirFaire

Finally got to sit down and watch it. I am trying to keep my hype levels low as I will be travelling on the release date! Overall a well done direct, and the music part was very cool. Why on earth would Nintendo do a press conference when they can do this...

My only disappointment is the roster, and even then it is minor. I think my problem is that the koopalings (whomever their father may be...) seem to "feel" like a single racer, and not the individuals they are. I will hold out hope for a racer DLC (something I think Nintendo would be foolish NOT to do). Finally I have an icon, to show my support for King Boo!

Re: Nintendo Lifts The Lid On Its Plans For E3 2014

SavoirFaire

@therealmario101 all I have to say is "welcome to the internet", where hatedom is all the rage. If anything, that entire concept should explain why Nintendo's take on E3 is smart: too many people just love to jump on the bash-anyone bandwagon, and more so would jump all over Nintendo for a "bad" press event.

Re: GameStop Plans to Close Around 120 Stores in the Coming Year

SavoirFaire

72nd post and nobody has said it yet? Ok, fine.

Gamestop is DOOMED!

I actually buy most of my games from either Best Buy or Toys R Us because I am on their rewards program, and $5 is $5. The only time I check GameStop is as a last resort when a game isn't carried by one of the other 2 stores, or around Black Friday as they tend to have pretty good deals.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Must Take Careful Steps Into Paid DLC and Free-to-Play

SavoirFaire

I don't get why people take a good or evil view on DLC. To me, it is a case by case basis.

Is mario golf "supposed" to have x characters and y courses? How do you determine what someone "took out" of a game? This tends to show people who already have a bias.

I will pick up mario golf demo this week (I hope), and if I like it, get the game, and if I love it, get the dlc.

My past experiences with dlc (all wii u) were:
-arkham origins (not worth it, go glad I got season pass refund)
-injustice gods among us (got characters and they stopped short of full roster other games got)
-castlestorm (enjoyed game and dlc)
-Pikmin 3 (game was too short, but dlc was good)

So for what it's worth in my view, Nintendo and zen studios seem to be doing dlc right, and WB will not get another cent of money from me. I get the feeling those heavily anti-dlc have been burned a bit too many times by Xbox/ps/PC games.

Re: Review: NES Remix 2 (Wii U eShop)

SavoirFaire

Good to see I'm not the only one holding out for a physical release! Nintendo should really state if physical releases are on the table for the remixes and the new sports games. I am holding onto my money because I prefer a physical copy.

Re: Feature: What We Want to See in Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Direct

SavoirFaire

If it is wishes and dreams, may as well go crazy:

-lack of sunspace emissary was just a distraction, it's in
-5 player local play on wii u (4 and gamepad)
-cross promotion for owning both is steep discount and allowing stages to be used on either platform (local only)(I expect 0 cross platform promotion)
-bayonetta is a new fighter
