My comments are about the story but then that annoying stalker troll comes along like always and doesn't make a point about the story but dribbles out his usual garbage.

Re: Monster Boy And The Cursed Kingdom Switch Pre-Orders Are Ten Times Stronger Than PS4

SLIGEACH_EIRE

"Monster Boy And The Cursed Kingdom is due for release this summer, and with a physical edition also on the cars, publisher FDG Entertainment has been keen to reveal how it's pre-orders are faring. And the data they've revealed makes for some interesting reading. Turns out the Nintendo Switch version is trending very well - so well, in fact, that its outselling the PS4 version 10:1."

Numerous mistakes.

"That's pretty impressive, and indicative of how strong Nintendo Switch's user base is right now. It also proves how games such as MBATCK are just what a majority of Switch players are looking for."

There are issues with these lines, not grammatically, but factually. Well, actually there is a grammatical mistake. It should be "what the majority" as there aren't several majorities, it's either one or the other.

Anyway, sidetracked there, it doesn't prove "how strong Nintendo Switch's user base is right now" and where is the evidence that these games "are just what the majority of Switch players are looking for"? We've no numbers, just a ratio and there's several plausible explanations.

Re: Nindies Showcase For Nintendo Switch Airing Next Week

SLIGEACH_EIRE

@thesilverbrick Awful analogy. And to say call them AAA 3rd party is also wrong because not all games from those publishers are AAA. Do people differentiate Indies by calling them Indie 3rd parties? No, they don't. Indies are called Indies to differentiate them from the usual meaning of 3rd party support. Sure it's not ideal, as 3rd party can by its literal definition include Indies, but that's how it is. 3rd parties were here first, Indies are relatively new. Nobody knew back then that they'd better have a more exact name for themselves because it would cause confusion years later when Indies would come under that umbrella.

Re: Nindies Showcase For Nintendo Switch Airing Next Week

SLIGEACH_EIRE

@thesilverbrick Stop stating the obvious, we know Indies are 3rd party but when people differentiate between certain categories, they label them. So when somebody talks about 3rd party and Indies, people know the difference, e.g. Capcom = 3rd party, Image & Form = Indie.

Like how we know this Showcase won't feature said Capcom or Square Enix, EA, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

Re: Nindies Showcase For Nintendo Switch Airing Next Week

Swiftly followed by a 3rd party Showcase for Nintendo Switch. It's expected to last 1 minute.

I would also remind people that 85%(and growing) of the games on Switch are from Indies, with the remaining 15% made up of Nintendo and 3rd party titles. In all cases, be it Nintendo, 3rd party or Indie, the majority of the games are old ports.

So when people say, "The vast majority of my Switch library consists of indie games", it's hardly surprising, you've got a ratio of nearly 6:1.

You could say, it'll grow on you.

Features include:

-Laid-back, relaxing exploration: No ticking clock or perils laying in wait will prevent you from enjoying your journey here.

-An organic and mysterious ecosystem to play with: Interacting with graceful animals, ephemeral flora, and intriguing monoliths alter the world in vibrant and unexpected ways.

-Procedural population: The forest only materializes around you when you get close, regrowing in a new way each time you pass. What will you find when you retrace your steps?

-A dynamic soundtrack that responds to the player’s travels: The audio shifts along with the visuals, providing an enveloping aural and immersive experience.

Re: Infernium Is Myst Meets Outlast And It's Running Scared Onto Nintendo Switch

You missed what they wrote in their Youtube description of the video.

"Infernium, a non-linear first person survival horror. Dive in an interconnected beautiful portrait of hell, die in a prison without bars and overcome a brutal penitence. An agonizing anxiety-inducing experience that will shake you to the core.

From the creator of the multi-awarded indie game of the year MIND: Path to Thalamus. Published by Undercoders, creators of Conga Master and the world wide acclaimed Superola and the Lost Burgers.

Running at native 720p 30fps on Nintendo Switch"

Re: Gunman Clive Developer Shares Sneak Peek From Upcoming Game

SLIGEACH_EIRE

"lets just call it Project Giant Robot shall we?"

And eradicate the other one from our memory. I know I'm being a bit pedantic but it should be "let's" not "lets".

What can we say about the screenshot? It's cel-shaded, it looks nice and the game may be some robotic version of Rampage. There's an awful lot of bins lying around with their lids off. They need modern wheelie bins. Everyone seems to drive around in the same yellowy/orange car. If you look in the bottom left corner, I think you may be that person with the gun beside the car. Maybe you've been called out after the Robot didn't like his stay in the hotel and decided to thrash the city. There's a Gunman Clive billboard on top of the building to the right of the robot. I think that's all I've noticed.

Re: Video: Will Super Smash Bros. Switch Be a Port or a Brand New Game?

SLIGEACH_EIRE

@roadrunner343 I can see Nintendo calling this 5 because they don't want to acknowledge the Wii U. But more than that, by calling it a new game, they can justify charging full price. Then there's the DLC which I've previously spoken about. There's a fair whack of it, which Nintendo would like to charge for rather than letting everyone have it for free. Again, I've also said that it's not just Nintendo that makes money from the DLC, Sega, Capcom, Namco Bandai, Square Enix and many more take a slice of it. By having the characters as separate DLC they can get a bigger profit margin than being included in the main game.

Re: Video: Will Super Smash Bros. Switch Be a Port or a Brand New Game?

SLIGEACH_EIRE

It'll be Version 4.5. No way are they going to let all that Wii U/3DS content fall by the wayside without trying to tap it up again for maximum profit. Just look at all their other Wii U ports and this is arguably the biggest. They'll add in a few new characters, a few new stages, make a few alterations, add some new modes, slap some Switch paint on it and roll it off the conveyor belt. Plus the game already runs at 60fps and 1080p from Wii U.

I've said it before but when you ask big questions like this, you really should add in a poll to see what people think.

Re: Power Up Your Switch With The Venom Power Pack and Stand

SLIGEACH_EIRE

@roadrunner343 SMO was in development since late 2013. They didn't rush it out for the Switch launch, it seems complete and they had it out well in advance for Christmas. It doesn't seem rushed and it's an original game. The majority of the games on Switch are old ports.

"You also seem to think releasing a product with the intent of making money is somehow a bad thing." How do I think that?
