Re: The Internet Is Pouring Some Serious Salt On That PC Port Of Chrono Trigger

SLIGEACH_EIRE

@Pineapple_Mohawk I said "might". And like the Wii U ports, Chrono Trigger is available for people to buy on DS, even now if they really want it. They weren't that bothered back then. Plus people can play it portably seeing as they care about that feature so much. It never originally came to Europe but I bought the Virtual Console version. It was a very good game, I might have thought about it more highly had I played it originally back in the day.

People can buy it on the Wii Shop for less than €10 and play it on their Wii U.

Re: Nintendo Switch Is Now The Fast-Selling Console In France With 1 Million Units Sold

SLIGEACH_EIRE

That's impressive. France is by far Nintendo's best market in Europe. The Wii is the biggest selling console in France, 6.4 million. The previous record holder for sellng 1 million units the fastest was the PS4, it took over a year to do so. The XB1 took 3 years in France to reach that milestone.

https://www.resetera.com/threads/the-nintendo-switch-has-already-sold-1-million-units-in-france-fastest-selling-console-ever.25791/

And speaking of handhelds, the 3DS has sold over 5.27 million units there.

Re: Review: Detention (Switch eShop)

@Flowerlark No, I think you've misread what I've wrote, the price of the game on the eShop is:

£7.50
€10.50 (£7.50 in Euro is €8.50)
$13 (£7.50 in Dollars is $10.50)

I pointed out the differences. It's €2 and $2.50 more expensive than Sterling.

@SBandy I never said I "watched videos of this game being played". I've watched official trailers. You like name calling, do you? Calling me negative? You should take a look at yourself. I said positive things about the 2 previous reviews(Dragon Sinker and Toki Tori 2+) on this site. You claim that you'll be playing games, yet you've made time for another troll post and to throw around insults. Do you like jogging, "son"?

Re: Review: Detention (Switch eShop)

SLIGEACH_EIRE

I'd watched videos and read previews about this game. The review confirms what I'd heard before. It's a very, very short game. I also noticed in the videos that while it has translated text in the game, not everything is, like Japanese writing on books will sail right over peoples heads. If you've seen trailers, you'll know what I mean. It's a very Japanese game. Also, there's some disparity between the £ price and the $ price. I'm going to look for the € price.

Edit: The price in Euro is €10.49, although if you pre-order it, the price is €8.39 until 1st March. The UK gets a much better price. £7.50 is €8.50 or $10.50. So Europe pays €2 more and the US pays $2.50 more.

Re: Review: Dragon Sinker (Switch eShop)

SLIGEACH_EIRE

I was listening to a podcast at the weekend and someone said it was awful, they called it Dragon Stinker.

Edit: But having looked at reviews myself elsewhere, it seems to have reviewed very positively. Maybe just that person didn't like it.

Re: Bayonetta 2 Drops Out Of The UK Charts Top Ten As Mario Bounces Back

@Grawlog Thanks for reminding me, I meant to post some figures about Japanese Switch software sales. And Japan is bigger in to digital sales than much of the West. A couple of examples:

Splatoon 2's digital sales are 178,101. Remember, Splatoon 2 recently passed 2 million physical sales in Japan alone, that's well under 10% of its sales digitally. Percentage wise, it's even less for the next few games listed.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild again on Switch has sold well over 870,000+ physical units, versus 64,738 digital.

Super Mario Odyssey, 111,394 digital versus 1,614,506 physical.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, 89,042 digital versus 1,346,387 physical.

And on and on it goes.

Brilliant game, 10/10.

Toki Tori 2+ is OUT NOW on Switch Experience Toki Tori's Epic Puzzle

Adventure on the go, for the first time ever, as Toki Tori 2+: Nintendo Switch Edition is OUT NOW in the eShop. In this blog post, we explain why this is the best version of the game so far.

http://twotribes.com/message/toki-tori-2-switch-out-now/

Check out Two Tribes website above to see all the improvements that they made to the Switch version of the game. I may have to buy this AGAIN at some point. It's just that good.

And the reason the level editor isn't in the game is partly down to Nintendo, Two Tribes, technical issues and poor sales. They did try before on Wii U and explained why it didn't make it in. I'd suggest some of those issues still exist.

Re: Super Mario Odyssey Was Always Planned To Be Released On Switch

SLIGEACH_EIRE

They would say that. Not saying it's a lie, not saying it's the truth. But, yes, possibly it was never intended for the Wii U but it most probably was made on the Wii U. Look at it sure, it's a bumped up Wii U game. Super Mario Odyssey started development back at the end of 2013, Nintendo wouldn't have had a clue about the spec for the Switch then, nor the controller interface, but they knew Wii U was dying at that stage, barring some major miracle, so they kept their options open. Wii U owners suffered and were deprived so Switch owners could reap the benefits.

Unlike BOTW, Nintendo never publicly announced SMO for the Wii U, so they never had to break any promise. I think SMO could run on the Wii U, no problem. Just some minor adjustments, like with BOTW. But it was too late to bother with a port by the time it released.

@Donutman You never know what you'll do in 4 years time or way down the road. You don't have those options now. You've likely got some digital code saved on an SD card that could easily corrupt and when the servers go down, you'll have nothing.

Games companies want us to go digital and want us to think it's the future. It's better for them, it eliminates the secondhand market for starters. I want to own games physically every single time where possible. In a digital only world, it means too that they can keep a digital game at €60 for as long as they like and not have to worry about retailers selling new physical versions of the game for dirt cheap.
