Re: Sumo Digital Is Teasing Some New Content For Snake Pass

SLIGEACH_EIRE

The letter is "V". Plus they say "CODE DROP. Number 5" in the Tweet. 5 is V in Roman numerals. I got it: Veni, vidi, vici,” or “I came, I saw, I conquered.”

It could be a Battle Mode or multiplayer. Julius Caesar was known for battle and multiplayer would be "sssomething a little bit ssspecial and sssought after." It's the feature that people have asked for most in the requests.

Re: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Will Get A Retail Release (But It'll Cost You $60)

SLIGEACH_EIRE

We've known this for months. I've been saying it's a disgrace but Nintendo have no shame, just look at all the other Wii U ports. They've done nothing bar add Funky Kong which makes the game easier and the game is less than €20 new on Wii U. The only way to stop rip-off's like this happening is for people not to buy them. I own it on Wii U, paid full price at launch, there's not a chance in hell I'll pay another €60.

Re: Soapbox: My Nintendo's Updated Rewards Scheme Is Anything But Rewarding

SLIGEACH_EIRE

You're better off buying games physically. They should be trying to incentivise people to buy more games digitally. This is not how you go about it, at least not if you want to succeed. Any potential extra credit you get from buying digitally is wiped out by the advantages of owning games physically, plus you can buy the games cheaper from retailers.

Unless Nintendo start offering goodies like on the old Club Nintendo(e.g. CD soundtracks, jigsaws, MK8 trophies, Luigi diorama's, Majora's Mask lamp, etc, etc), then this service is dead to me.

Re: Switch Is A "Fantastic Platform" For Indie Developers, Says Curve Digital

SLIGEACH_EIRE

@Pod Why are they called Indies then? There is a distinction between Indies and 3rd party developers. Sure you can call them 3rd parties, but you know what I mean and it would otherwise be confusing if we lump everything that's not Nintendo as 3rd party. They know what they are, they call themselves Indies, the article calls them Indies, they're not traditional 3rd party developers.

Re: Switch Is A "Fantastic Platform" For Indie Developers, Says Curve Digital

SLIGEACH_EIRE

Yes it is. But can the same be said for 3rd party developers? I think this E3 will give us the definitive answer. Most haven't bothered, they've just given us quick, cheap ports with inflated price tags. A lot of them say they're interested but never back it up. Words are hollow. I think they may be thinking to themselves, let's grab some easy sales while the Switch is the hot new product before continuing on about their usual daily business. I'd love to be wrong, but it's been a year, where are they?

It's easier for an Indie developer to get attention and sales on Switch than drown in the Steam Sea. But as more and more Indies come to Switch they'll eventually stand out less and less. 85% of the games on Switch are from Indies. Well over half of those are old ports. And the same can be said of the remaining 15% 1st and 3rd party games.

Re: You Can Now Spend Your My Nintendo Gold Points On Digital Switch Purchases

SLIGEACH_EIRE

@YummyHappyPills Well, you've been doing a bit of defending and firefighting in the forums, so you know it's coming. And in fairness people have legitimate complaints. Like only getting 1% back on physical games as opposed to 5% on digital games. I still wouldn't buy a digital game where possible, especially for such paltry "reward".

Also, "It's worth noting a little caveat here. Almost all launch Switch games are ineligible if they weren't already redeemed before the update. If you were holding out to redeem, it seems you're out of luck." - from GoNintendo.

The expiry date should be lengthened to 2 years worldwide(not just Europe). People shouldn't have to register new accounts to buy digital games around the world in different eShops. Do I need a new credit card for each account? No. People have points scattered all around in separate accounts that don't really amount to anything substantial. This is supposed to be a "Reward Scheme". It barely feels like one.

Re: Rocket League's New Update Brings Bug Fixes and Batmobiles

SLIGEACH_EIRE

These Batmobiles look really nice.

"Rocket League continues to be one of the most popular titles on the Switch eShop, and it's about to get even more popular as the much-anticipated new update is rolled out across all versions of the game. The new version 1.42 adds in the DC Super Heroes DLC, which includes:"

You should have included the word "more".

This DLC will cost $3.99/£3.29, for those wondering. Also included in the "Bug Fixes" is "Adjusted Xbox 360 controller vibration" which was left out here as it's a Nintendo article, some of you might like to know though.

There's not a lot happening this week. I don't think there was a single new game in the charts, just some reentries from older games, possibly due to sales. MK8D, SMO and BOTW are still charting high. But Bayonetta 2 continues to tumble down, It's touch-and-go whether it'll be there next week, probably not.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Life's Top Ten eShop Games From Switch's First Year

SLIGEACH_EIRE

"We all know the likes of Rocket League and Celeste are great games. Who wants to read someone state the obvious? We're celebrating some of the games that deserve a little more love and exposure."

Where's "Something else"? Probably don't want it winning the poll. You've limited this by not having a something else option. What you've really asking is, "What is your favourite Switch eShop game 'from our favourite Switch eShop games' from year one?" You haven't given people the choice to vote for anything other than these 10 games.

I'd definitely remove Floor Kids, FAST RMX and possibly, just maybe, Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap. The others I agree with. Where's Owlboy?

Re: The Studio That Ported Skyrim To Switch Wants To Tackle Monster Hunter World Next

SLIGEACH_EIRE

Capcom could easily do the localisation themselves(if they wanted to). It would be kind of embarrassing if they handed it off to Iron Galaxy Studios. I think this could just be a publicity stunt on their part. Besides there's a strong possibility that there's a clause in the MHW contract that won't allow it to come to Switch. The best hope is that it's just a timed deal.

Anyway, the Switch would have a heart attack trying to run this, it would be so stripped back that it may not worth it. Think of the mess, Dead Rising Chop Till You Drop on Wii.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Life's Favourite Games From Switch's First Year

SLIGEACH_EIRE

@Grawlog You've just gone on my ignore list, you don't contribute anything to the articles or even make any point about them. You constantly have a go at me. You may not agree with my opinion but at least make some intelligent counterpoint instead of harping on about "you should start your own site". It's too late anyway, I've had enough of your drivel dribble. You're a troll, plain and simple.

Re: Switch Programming Glitch Is Forgetting Your Game Playtimes

SLIGEACH_EIRE

Nintendo on their Japanese site has cofirmed that the Playtime glitch will be fixed with a future update and that the data hasn't been lost.

Google translate:

Question: [Switch] Looking at "play record", it is displayed as if you played a few days ago though it is software that has been running for more than 1 year since playing started.

Answer: As for the phenomenon in which "My Play History" is not displayed correctly on my page, we plan to fix it in the future main body update.
Please wait for delivery of main body update data.

(*) It is a problem on the display of My page, and it is not abnormality of play record or saved data, so do not worry.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Life's Favourite Games From Switch's First Year

SLIGEACH_EIRE

@Dom Your article is a lie then. "Here are the games we loved the most on Switch". You don't even mention why the other top games are excluded. Nobody asked for every Switch game to be listed but when you leave out most of the best games, the poll's a farce.

And seeing as you mentioned Alex, he says Splatoon 2 is "quite simply my favourite Switch exclusive". That's a limited statement. Might he have picked BOTW if we're talking non-exclusive? So were the other contributors asked to pick their favourite Switch game other than the obvious contenders? And if so, you should have written so.

Dom:- "We all know the likes of Zelda and SMO are great games. Who wants to read someone state the obvious? We're celebrating some of the games that deserve a little more love and exposure."

That's poor journalism. Would you write a review and put the conclusion and its score down in the comments section? No, you wouldn't. You should have stated in the article why certain games were excluded. Plus the headline and subheading are false statements.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Life's Favourite Games From Switch's First Year

SLIGEACH_EIRE

@Dom A poll that lacks most of the real contenders, 1st party, Super Mario Odyssey, MK8D, and BOTW. Or the top Indie games, e.g. Celeste and Owlboy as recent examples, but there's plenty more that have received excellent plaudits. The poll should be called:

"What are your fave games of our favourite games from Switch Year One?

The article doesn't even preface why all of the other games are missing.

"Talking Point: Nintendo Life's Favourite Games From Switch's First Year
Here are the games we loved the most on Switch

This weekend, Nintendo Switch will blow out the candles on its very first birthday cake, marking 12 months of incredible sales, a mainstream takeover and a raft of third-party support. It's been a dream scenario for Nintendo, placing the publisher firmly back in the pantheon of modern gaming, and it has given us a platform teeming with every type of game you could imagine. From first-party exclusives and 'Nindies' to full-on triple-A ports and retooled retro classics, the eShop is a veritable sweet shop of digital delicacies.

So with Switch Year One at an end, here are top picks from the last 12 months..."

Just look at your subheading, "Here are the games we loved the most on Switch". That's not true though, is it?

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Life's Favourite Games From Switch's First Year

SLIGEACH_EIRE

Seriously, what the hell is up with that poll? You're deciding what games people can vote for from a very limited pool and games that "you" like. Fix. I hope and expect "Something else" to win.

Edit: "Something else" is winning on 63%. You should start again.

I'd pick Super Mario Odyssey if it was there because it's new, original and exclusive to Switch. I wouldn't pick the other high ranking contender as it's a Wii U port.
