Re: Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising

Roronoa11

This was my first ever game on my GBA SP (NES edition) and is still, to this day, is one of the best games I’ve ever played! It’s what got me into Fire Emblem: Fates (after I saw that it was created by the same company of Intelligent Systems so I knew that it was a mark of quality gameplay already) and am overjoyed that it’s FINALLY getting a rerelease on a modern platform (after the 3DS was bypassed but it’s ok,there’s FE and also the DS sequels of Advance Wars such as Dual Strike which are easily available). A must-buy for any self-respecting gamer!

Re: Nintendo Appears To Be Pulling DSiWare Games From The 3DS eShop

Roronoa11

I was wondering when this would finally come. The last DSi games I bought were Pucca’s Noodle Rush and Mario’s Cement Factory. I did want to buy Bomberman but frankly it’s too expensive seeing that it’s only a DSI ware and not a full 3DS title. The cost of some of these games are far too high, you’d think they’d be discounted in relation to sales performance or just general economics and dated they are now but no....

Re: Review: Tank Troopers (3DS eShop)

Roronoa11

The 40% discount on this in the My Nintendo Rewards is still lingering....the lack of online makes me wonder to just buy a couple of Virtual Console games in the eShop instead...at least there won't be the massive void of online play there... I'll see if my mind changes by Christmastime.....
P. S Oh and a new Advance Wars PLEASE!!!!

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel #61 - Okamiden

Roronoa11

I quite like the dynamism of the NA/EU cover but can see how lovely appealing the cherry blossoms are. I bought this game a few months ago (Japan version only) so I should really get back into it. Marvelous little gem🤗

Re: Go! Go! Kokopolo 3D

Roronoa11

Hmm.... Still undecided on this one... Maybe I'll chuck some quid at it next time it rolls around discounted on the eshop...

Re: Review: Monster Hunter 3 (Tri~) (Wii)

Roronoa11

After playing the MH3, MH4, and MHGens. demos on my 3DSXL every now and then, I finally bit the bullet and thought to get stuck in MH properly so just bought this for ¥92 (70p!!!) at a second hand shop in mint-condition for my old Wii...a bargain for such an amazing game!! Once I've gotten the best of it, I may get MH Generations Ultimate for the Switch along with a switch😅🎮

Re: Nintendo To Shutdown "Limited" Wii U And 3DS eShops In Select Countries

Roronoa11

I knew this day would come...this is officially the beginning of the end, once Nintendo announce the discontinuation of 3DS eShops in certain regions then the rest of the world will follow, Japan Europe and the US being the last ones standing.
I very recently transferred my 3DSXL to a New 3DSXL (due to the screen hinge being broken) it took 24 hours (all wireless, NNID and SD transfers as well as all my software) but I have zero regrets and love my 3DS even more😍🎮.
As long as Nintendo continues the online support for 3DS for another 10 years then I'll be happy🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾

Re: Review: Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux (3DS)

Roronoa11

Just bought it on the eShop (UK) sale last week for around a fiver!! Total bargain since I already have Shin Megami Tensei IV and still think it's one of the best 3DS games ever!! I was trying to choose between Apocalypse and SJ Redux and think I'm pleasantly happy with the choice I made😊

Re: Review: Pokémon Sword And Shield - A Solid Start To Gen 8 On Switch, Despite The Hate

Roronoa11

It's as I suspected...the hype on certain welcome points in refreshed game mechanics aren't enough to mask the crappy stale ones. Pokémon Moon was pretty underwhelming overall and I didn't have the heart to undertake Alola again in Ultra so until the 'next' edition/updated version comes out (Pokémon Mace or Pokémon Lance perhaps?😆), I'll be playing my newly bought Pokémon Crystal in the meantime....😜

Re: Feature: The Best Three Pokémon Starters From All Gens, As Voted By You

Roronoa11

I've always been a Water-starter user since Pokémon Blue and since I was into Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ('Hero' for us 90s gen in the UK), it was a natural choice for me to pick the turtle (and name him Kamehameha😁). But in the anime and merch I always thought the design was overrated but got better with Wartortle and Blastoise🐢. BUT, Totodile is still my fav all-round hence my vote here🐊. Froakie 🐸and Popplio are too simple and that's a bit of a grip I have with the 3DS versions. Oshawott🐚 and Chespin🌰 are just too random to have a good connotation and Piplup🐧 was just a wee too boring to get going on it. Mudkip is prob the most common starter that I harvest egg-wise.

Re: Review: Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 - Great Multiplayer, But A Step Backwards For Solo Athletes

Roronoa11

I bought my first ever M&S game a few months ago: "Mario & London at the 2012 London Olympics" for the 3DS so am looking forward to playing that. Otherwise the only 1 great thing I'd say about this installment is the retro games mode. But it's rather lame of SEGA to overlook the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics to deliver an underpar version after such a long wait....

Re: Rumour: The Starter Evolutions For Pokémon Sword And Shield Might Have Been Leaked

Roronoa11

@RareFan That or Wind in The Willows😆 I'll take these evolutions as confirmed rather than rumours thanks. There have already been a few exclusive playable betas around now eg. Pokémon Centre London so at this point so close to the actually game's release date it's not so much a leak as a 'leak'🙄 NL knows this too hence happily splashing this out all over this very page =T

Re: Who Needs A Game Boy Classic Edition When You've Got The Analogue Pocket?

Roronoa11

FINALLY!! My dream came true! 😍 I've had an original GB, GB Pocket, and GBASP so this was a natural expectancy. I'm first and foremost a handheld gamer so when i recently went over my Game Boy games collection (when i was back home in the UK this summer) i was actually seriously considering getting a GB Micro (here in Japan) for better portability for my GBA games (also because there aren't any on the 3DS eShop😭) but this Analogue Pocket is a wish come true!! To play on the TV is the clincher for me👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Re: CoroCoro Poster Reveals Full Scale Of The Wild Area In Pokémon Sword And Shield

Roronoa11

Omg...so pumped for this one, I’m absolutely adoring all the British stuff that they’ve put in..brings a tear to my eye🤩so far we’ve seen Cotswolds, Lake District and County Durham inspired locations but I suspect they’ll be some Welsh valleys and some pebbly beaches ahoy too😉
In the meantime, I’m just completing my National Pokédex in Pokémon Y and falling in love with the series again (Pokémon Moon left me a bit cold overall) while I breed mareeps for my Pokémon Bank account....🐑🐑🐑

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 28th)

Roronoa11

I’ve been slowly but surely getting excited about Pokémon Sword and Shield so this weekend i’m revisiting Kalos and Alola with a short detour to Unova after stopping by my Pokémon Bank to make a withdrawal then hitting up Pokémon Y and Pokémon Moon as well as Pokémon White. Anyone want to boost up their Friend Safari add me😃

Re: Feature: 10 Of The Worst Nintendo Game Covers Ever

Roronoa11

Rival Turf seems rather ok considering the year (1992) and judging by the screenshots of the game I can't see much reason to complain.
But as for Karnaj Rally and Virtual Chess 64: 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

Lazy design is one thing but producing such visual cowpats is a crime.

Re: Mario Kart Tour Will Get Multiplayer Mode In Future Update

Roronoa11

So now begins the slow array of forthcoming updates to make the app a proper Mario Kart game😑 They'll come with all the speed of a falling Tetris block at Level 3 but with only a fraction of the satisfaction of a complete line because it's too flipping long!!Why not release the complete game from the off, rather than dangle future content with one hand and sicker-punch and rob us with the other!? (Gold Pass ×cough cough×)🤪

Re: Mario Kart Tour Has A Paid Subscription Service For Bonus In-Game Rewards

Roronoa11

I think someone in marketing got hit by a rogue koopa shell to go ahead with such a foul plan.
£5 as a one-time payment = can work
£5 per month = 🙄🤬🤬🤬

Anyway, the only 2 apps I actually bother with are Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and Fire Emblem Heroes as they're sufficient for a quick play and when I don't have my 3DSXL at hand and also they earn Nintendo Points (although they're pretty worthless in itself nowadays but that's for another thread...)

Meanwhile, Mario Kart 7 is still selling well with New 2DSXL packages with all the trimmings. I don't like to pay to play unless it's for a proper console🎮

Re: Video: How The CPU Used To Cheat In Street Fighter II

Roronoa11

Now I feel a lot better after losing to the arcade of Championship Edition and then later on the Super Street Fighter II arcade on the Sealink ferry to France once upon a time.
Still, cheapness has always been a part of Street Fighter (strong kick slides anyone? 😝)

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #9 - The Legend Of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX

Roronoa11

I remember when the first one came out, I was decidedly unimpressed and despite the fantastic Rik Mayall doing the advert, I still wasn't sold. Then I borrowed it from my friend from school a year later..... Omg, i was blown away!! The simple cover was so misleading, if anything it tripled the whole gaming experience of it. Apart from the name, logo, and sword and shield, the 13 year old me didn't know what great surprises were in store. When the DX cover came out I now thought "Less is more"

It still works.
🇪🇺🇪🇺🇪🇺🇪🇺🇪🇺🇪🇺🇪🇺✌🏾
Also, the Chinese cover of the original blasts the Japanese DX out of the water. The Japan cover must've been the result of a lost drunken bet..🍶

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 21st)

Roronoa11

Thought this weekend i’d polish off my Pokédexes by hitting up the Pokemon Bank and play Pokémon Y and Pokémon Moon .Also enjoying a lengthy mission in Steamworld Heist and not taking the online cheapness too seriously in Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition
P.s @Anti-Matter How did you upload pics??😮 Terima kasih!

Re: Poll: Nintendo Switch Lite Is Out Today, Are You Getting One?

Roronoa11

Nah, not for me... I'm still enjoying my New 3DSXL far too much and it's better handheld than the Switch Lite in terms of gamer experience. For me, the deal breaker would have to be Streetpass and themes, something that took a while to come to the 3DS in the first place so I can imagine it'll be a while before Nintendo finally wises up and upwards its Switch OS with those.
Also I'm not too taken by the designs🤔. The Pokémon one looks the best but I'm pretty sure they'll wheel out much better colour schemes and designs soon, just look at the varieties of GB, GBASP, and 3DSXL that we've had, and that's not even including region-specific ones.

Biding my time and enjoying the 3DSXL for my portable gaming for now.... 😉🎮

Re: Get Fresh 3DS Discounts With The Latest My Nintendo Rewards (Europe)

Roronoa11

@gamefreak77 As much as I agree with about Nintendo being stupidly coy about the actual status of the 3DS/2DSXL, it’s not dead yet. The 2DSXLs are still the top handheld seller here in Japan and a lot of games are being ported, be they by update versions or sequels to the Switch. Since the Switch Lite is launching imminently, with the new Pokémon around the corner too, they’re mainly focusing it on small points without addressing the elephant in the room. The interface software of the Switch is still way behind the current one for the 3DS so until they do a decent uphaul with at least everything the 3DS has (themes, folders, streetpass even😅, etc.) then it’s still not the successor.
