@Vicki_S It definitely won't be missed, that's for sure, as you obviously pointed of all the common viewing alternative peripherals that exist. It’s easy to forget that the Nintendo 3DS is over 8 years old now, having launched in 2011. For a frame of reference, iPhone 4 was the latest Apple device at that time. Smartphones were still emerging, and older phones with seemingly immortal battery life were so till around (in Britain anyway) . So when apps like the YouTube app made their way to the 3DS, it was a charming novelty at the time. Unlike other regions' 3DS softwares, YouTube was the only media viewing app (unlike Netflix in the US and Nico Nico in Japan).
There was more sense in keeping Miiverse tbh...😅hahaha
So why didn't France get their own Poké Centre in Paris when XY came out then?? Probably because the UK will need all the foreign investment it needs right now with all this Brexit crap 🙄.
Also I'm guessing it might just be a minimalist shop somewhere in Leicester Square or Wardour Street. The rent will only increase to more ridiculous amounts so either TPC (The Pokémon Company) and Nintendo go the whole hog and make it the most significantly awesome pikatastic Pokémon Centre outside of Japan or it'll be a short-lived flash in the pan that'll last 18 months or so. Let's hope for the former....
Yup, the same for us in Europe (UK user here) but as most have said already, it doesn't work properly anymore..most likely they've stopped updating its support servers for it - _-; Before i got my smartphone i used to watch YouTube on my 3DS all the time..well, 'watch' is a grandiose term..rather i played music videos for bgm on it while i did the washing up.. 😅
Cancelling a 3DS game in Japan doesn't mean much, it probavly just means that they decided to shift their focus on different platform that could benefit more in the long run. Look how long it took Nintendo to integrate compatibility for Pokémon GO! to a console version of Pokémon. For months and months everyone was expecting (and hoping) it to be compatible with 3DS's Pokémon Sun and Moon, since 2017 was the year of both Go! and Sun/Moon but rather than update the Pokémon Bank's cloud to allow cross-platform compatibility, they lingered and lingered for the Switch to come out and do a tie-in for their Pokémon Let's Go title. Boardroom decision which results in the 3DS losing out attention in the long run. Thus, Mobile Ball will probably follow the same way. This time Nintendo has played it safe with its third-party developers and even had the sense to use its Virtual Console catalogue to really give gamers a proper selction. But let's face it, the 3DS is still the best handheld in the last 10 years and with its backlog of DS games too there's no reason to stop playing it. It'll be a while before Nintendo will release a proper succesor. The Switch Lite is just aimed at the hardcore handheld market (like me) to make more money.
Until Streetpass is continued in the next generation of Nintendo's handhelds I'm sticking with my beloved 3DSXL in the meantime.
@Stocksy Totally agree! I got the GBASP NEs version when it came out and then the Smash Bros 3DSXL (the red and black was a nice throwback to Nintendo of the 80s and 90s ident) and then I got Japanese New 3DSXL in the SNES colors so yes,it’d make perfect sense for Nintendo to release a version in classic throwback colors, either Game Boy or NES ^_^
Downloaded it and played the free trial until I hit lv. 40....then the level grinding begins 😑 To get a new character you need 4000 coins but you only win around 150-200 per stage so that gives you an idea. Also I tried to link my LINE and Facebook accounts but only let's me link my Nintendo Account. Nowhere as addictive as the late Miitomo and Fire Emblem Heroes and ACPC are much more player satisfactory. In the meantime it's back to my 3DSXL.....
Personally I'm not surprised at this, Sun & Moon were a massive disappointment and in my opinion the worse of the 3DS gen. Far too many cut scenes and an underwhelming ending which inevitably spurred a better but tardy sequel of Ultra. That says it all in a nutshell about where the company was taking it: compromising gameplay for profit. Even using the excuse of the 20th anniversary of suddenly making ALL the légendaires available at once was like a slap in the face for those who have been playing the previous games since. Again, stolen satisfaction.
And as for the culling of the pokédex I stand on two parts about this:
1) Having a wide range of Pokémon and filling up the National Dex is a ALWAYS a staple of Pokémon games. Limiting that like they did in Sun/Moon was a massive mistake and was soon rectified.
2) What the article said about balancing was a fair point, Game Freak shot themselves in the foot and should have become foreseeable that 'tourny' specific Pokémon would become overused and dominant. Remember the cheapness of Garchomp? They really need to reign in an actually 'depower' some when in a tournament in order to maintain a competitive balance. If Nintendo can do it for its ever growing roster in Smash Bros, why not Game Freak?
3) A LOT of pokemon designs are already CHEAP and LAZY and are blatantly done for fans, some don't bring anything to the game, both in story or gameplay. I did find it amusing that 3rd gen pokemon were mainly a rehash of the 1st gen ones but they actually tried to innovate. 5th gen Unova pokédex was the freshest update in a long time, and still is, as they managed to add an extra 100 completely new pokemon in one game, many with 3 évolutions too. 7th gen Alola pokemon was ok at n'est, with only a core of innovation on designs. The update of type on some 1st gen Dex ones were welcome and have shown that a few subtle tweaks can be much more effective than creating a crappy design just for numbers.
Hmmmm...i remember being in Japan when 'Samurai Warriors: Chronicle 3'came out..and saw that it's a hefty £29.99 on the eShop >_< BUT...at my local CEX store they have a 2nd hand version of this game for £6.00..i'm tempted...but dunno yet....
Ah...what a great review! I was hoping to find something about this title and this review told me just fine! I saw it in the shops (2nd hand) for £8 and i was wondering whether to get it or not..glad I held off. I always value gameplay over style anyway
this was my second-ever game which I got soon after it came out! Apart from the nostalgic factor and the wonder of seeing Bart live and the familiar Simpsons theme and graphics, it's important to bear in mind that this was one of the first-ever Simpsons games to be created and an early flagship tie-in to both the Game Boy and The Simpsons at the dawn of it's historical popularity. At the time, Acclaim were hard pressed to deliver the goods on a short amount of time and they wanted to sell this on the hype asap but in terms of gameplay and processing restrictions (8-bit after all), it's actually a decent platformer of it's time. Sure, there are some fuzzy parts and yeah, it's a PAIN to sometimes get hit cheaply by the bugs with bosses (can go 50/50 either way easy/bs hard) but any 11 year old will play this for ages! Just ask the kid within you.
