@The_Pixel_King Congrats on making it to 50 and happy birthday man! Enjoy the weekend celebrations
The lack of active sunset on this track is so weird, it was one of Super Circuit's more interesting tracks and they've somehow managed to make it a bit dull. A shame.
@aresius Party AI's actually really good at pulling off combos in this one. Healers still aren't the greatest but they generally get the job done. Also in this one you can switch the player controlled character at any time (including battle) if you want to manage more yourself
I picked up mine primarily for PC usage (I'm only playing Assassin's Creed and Dark Souls with it! Honest!) so I guess I can wait the one week or two it'll take someone to produce a working driver for it
I 100%'d the game back when it released (on Normal difficulty anyway, but replaying the entire thing on harder difficulties with nothing to gain for it doesn't much interest me), so whilst this DLC seems neat I'm gonna skip it for now. If the second DLC is meatier then I'll probably end up picking it up.
I love Zelda on the Master Cycle, that's the kind of awesome / crazy idea I've come to expect from Warriors games
@FaroreAbhorsen Yeah stone/pounds is still commonly used in the UK for weight, especially weighing people. Not entirely sure why, we seem to be split straight down the middle on whether we use metric or imperial for all sorts of things
@FaroreAbhorsen Something like Ring Fit isn't gonna get you ripped, you'll need to look into specialised weight training programs for that (consult a specialist etc etc). It's good for general fitness, posture, and, combined with diet, weight loss. I've been playing daily since the back-end of December (along with diet, 20-30 minutes of Fitness Boxing and a daily half-hour walk) and I'm down from 19st to 15st, so for me its working very well for what I'm trying to achieve, but I have not noticed any particular gain in muscle mass.
@BlueOcean Yeah 2's still basic but you have 3 characters (warrior / priest / mage types as I recall), quite a bit more story and a lot more variety in locations. It's still fairly basic and still much more simple than FF1, but I had a much better time with it.
I've always been more 'Troid than 'Vania, the RPG end of Vania doesn't quite gel with me, but I know some folks who'll be very happy to hear this. Cool stuff.
@BlueOcean Yeah, I played the original NES FF & DQ a few years ago out of curiosity, and both were very basic and retro (of course) but even then the original FF had far more going for it - 4 characters, several classes, loads of unique locations, decently interesting story...
I don't want to sound like I hate DQ1 or think it's a bad game or anything - its very simplistic by design (to give non-gamers of the time a colourful and pleasing world they could get invested in, compared to the more serious and complex and text-heavy D&D-inspired RPGs that also existed), but its just really hard to play today and very difficult to recommend at all outside an interest in the history of the series
@BlueOcean Hah. I'm yet to play Octopath but I understand it has 8 characters/campaigns and lots of characters and locations and sidequests and character classes and... so on. DQ1 does not. You've got 1 character, 1 class, barely a story, maybe 4 or 5 distinct environments, no sidequests, and a linear progression of equipment upgrades. Bash monsters for gold to buy equipment to bash next set of monsters, repeat cycle for 20+ hours. Its a slog of a game
DQ1 would need a lot of modernising - they could maybe get away with packaging the two together (DQ2 holds up reasonably well) and not changing DQ1, but if they do that they really need to make it clear that DQ1 is an old-ass crusty game with almost nothing but grind, no party and almost zero story. Its a very interesting history piece but real hard to recommend people play for fun.
If they modernise it a whole bunch though, that'd be cool
I remember way back in 2008 there was a really cool line of shirts under the label Pokémon 151, but they were Japan-only and I had neither the means nor the money to import them, which was really disappointing for me (I made do by making myself snazzy desktop wallpapers out of the designs).
So it's really cool to see these more artistic and adult-oriented designs to become available in the West with these Original Stitch ranges, even if they are a tad pricey. Really didn't feel like that would ever happen back in '08.
I want the amiibo - because I don't often buy amiibo, but I like Skyward Sword and I like the design of this amiibo - but I probably won't actually use it in the game. Not on principle or anything, its just 2021 and the novelty of amiibo's ingame functionalities wore off for me years ago.
And honestly, whilst locking fast-travel behind it is very dumb and silly, of all of SS's problems I don't remember fast-travel being one of them, so I can't say I'd have missed fast travel had it just not been in the remake at all. It's not exactly a big game world.
Been on a big ol' Picross bender recently (finally picked up Picross 3D on the oiginal DS, a decade late but its absolutely brilliant), so definitely looking forward to sega picross
I actually haven't picked up any of the Switch Picross yet and I think the only 3DS one I have is the Twilight Princess one they did as a MyNintendo promo, so I'm definitely not short on titles to catch up on in the meantime.
I really need them to show off what's actually in the DLC - I already 100% completed the game and had a ton of fun with it, but for that same reason if its just some new characters and a handful of new quests there's not much point in me picking it up, since there won't be much for me to do with them.
It's strange they're being so tight-lipped on it, especially after the wealth of additional content the HW DLC packs offered.
"we'll just run them into the ground by demanding they make titles nobody wanted, riddled with predatory monetisation systems and broken online requirements, and then shut them down when they inevitably stop being profitable"
@gergelyv " I wonder how much Nintendo invested into this."
Almost certainly nothing, its just a curious side-effect of the DVD-RAM drive reporting itself as a generic USB storage device in exactly the same way a regular external harddrive or usb thumbstick. The Wii U doesn't know/care that it's writing & reading a DVD, the drive itself deals with that. The Wii U just goes "hey, usb thing! save this data! and fetch me that game!" and how the thing on the other end of the usb cable handles that request is up to itself.
so basically the wii u just sees the dvd drive as a generic usb mass storage device (just with a godawful slow read/write speed, lol). that's kinda neat, I guess - if that's the case then the same should apply to any console that supports external storage devices
Yeah, I bit the bullet and bought a new Switch a few weeks ago - rationalising that if they announce a Pro its probably still going to be at least 6 months out from whenever they announce it, probably going to be really hard to get hold of given the semiconductor shortage, and if I keep the new one in really good condition I'll be able to sell it on at not too huge a loss. And there's also still the (increasingly slim) chance there's nothing in the works at all.
Heck, said semiconductor shortage might be why they haven't announced it yet, they may be waiting longer than originally planned for that to clear up before making a move.
I don't entirely trust my old Switch to have survived another year of daily use, so hopefully the gamble works out
I have their PVC Link & Zelda BotW figures and they're fantastic quality, but I'll probably skip these ones. These will probably be great too but I have enough BotW representation on my shelves for now I think
I'm looking forward to this one - passed up on it back on 3DS, but it looks like it'll be a fun little time. The port's looking nice too, looks like they put a bit more work in than just up-ressing the 3ds version
Hm, there being 6 characters rather than 5 in Fighter's Pass 2 already seems like a 'bonus' one, so I don't know if they'll do another one on top of that. If I had to guess, probably something else to celebrate the completion of SSBU (maybe a free mii costume or something - as the article points out, Rex's costume already accounts for one of the IDs, so its not guaranteed to be a fighter) or an extra little reward for people who bought both Fighter's Passes.
If it is a character, then yeah Waluigi seems like a good shout, since he'd be easier to develop (he's unlikely to come with music or a stage, and they can reuse a lot of his assist trophy stuff) and it'd be a nice nod to the community.
Gotta say, the quality of content on this site's been on a real uptick lately (meaning no shade on prior writers!), especially with the addition of Kate, Gavin, Ryan etc. Been enjoying a ton of the content here lately.
There's still a bit of a xenoblade chronicles x community going when I revisited it earlier this year. You do still see the same people pop up in your squads a fair bit but its cool to see it hasn't completely dried up yet
The premise is interesting but all I'm seeing in gameplay is a run-of-the-mill retro-styled 2D platformer, so it'll be good to see what, if anything, they do to explore the whole "Netflix world" setting beyond the menu decorations
