@Moistnado genuine curiosity here. What about the most powerful handheld system ever made, that will surely be supported for at very least the next 5 years, AND plays every game you already own (some of them play much better even) for $450 DOESNT seem like a good value?
definitely waiting for the switch 2 version. At this point switch 2 is 2 weeks away. I was able to pre-order 2 (one for me one for my son) so i cant really justify buying switch one games.
Both games are excellent too. Its just the casual gamer is hard to reach. Once you get that 7.9 from IGN you're ignored by the general population who think "$40 for a 7.9 is Not worth it." but spend $40 to look like naurtos father in fortnite
@Ganon821 I know you really badly WANT to be right. But there has been 1 count them ONE direct about the switch 2. In that direct they announced 6 exclusive new games. 4 of which are first party. (Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Banaza, Drive, Hyrule warriors, the DusckBloods, Hades 2) that's leaving out games like switch tour or whatever and Fast RMX. The SYSTEM HASNT EVEN RELEASED YET. I get that you want to be upset about something, but lack of new games isn't it.
@Ganon821 it hasn't even released yet dude. how could it have a massive library of new games when it hasn't even technically released a single game yet?
@TrogdorTheBurninator I dont think you're understanding what i'm saying so let me try a different approach.
No game will run better on the switch 2 automatically. That's not how this works. this isn't a PC. Third parties would have to go back and patch games for them to recognize that they are being played on the new hardware and then take advantage of that new power. Even then they would need a lot of work. It's not just flipping a switch, you have to add things like Higher resolution textures, 60fps animations, recode for larger scope ect.
THE ONE EXCEPTION is uncapped frame rates. Some games run with uncapped framerates ( i actually think Minecraft is one of them) These games MAY run better simply do to power pull from the CPU. However they run the risk of drawing to much power and running into frame glitches/ speed up frame rates/ a number of other problems.
Short version of the story is ITS UP TO THE DEVELOPER. does that help at all?
@TrogdorTheBurninator that game wasn't given. mostly because it isn't a Nintendo game so i don't see them giving out information on third party games that they have zero control over.
a good list of games but not a great list. I can't wait to play Metroid and Zelda warriors. I'm looking forward to MKW as well but not as much. I'm also picking up a few 3rd party games Hades II is a day 1 for me as is cyberpunk. so good list here but lack of a 3d mario or Zelda hurts a bit. ( heck id even take splatoon 4, or a Xenoblade)
It was a legitimately terrible show. More about popularity than game design. With some cringe worth musical numbers and worse jokes. This was the worst it's been in years.
LOL i found it cool. definitely made me wish I was going to the Pokemon WC in Japan. Then again I'm not much of a Pokemon person so I didn't really care going in.
@sunny63 not really anytime soon then. I think Pokemon still has 49 years to reach public domain. Unless the laws change again in the meantime, and most likely they will considering Disney is the driving force behind copyright extension
@Sisilly_G I really feel like Other M would be a huge fan favorite if it was just a random space ninja and not Samus in a Metroid game. the gameplay was super fun, it just wasn't very Metroid and the story was typically Japanese action game level
10 the best game I've ever played. BOTW was the first game to dethrone ALTTP for me and this is even better. I'm pushing 35, and I've been playing video games my whole life and nothing, NOTHING has ever had such a high level of pure fun game design.
You can complain about weapons and not being like OoT all day but you'll miss out on the fact that this is the best design anyone has ever coded into anything ever. As a dev myself I cannot believe anyone could sting together such a masterpiece of design in 6 years or even 10 but Nintendo has done it. 11/10
@mariomaster96 people who are buying switches for the first time. My brother who is an avid Nintendo hater finally broke down and got a switch and bought 3 games. All three Zeldas
i was able to grab it and the twilight princess link so my amiibo collection is 100% complete save for box boy who didn't even release in the USA and is way to expensive online.
@mariomaster96 they mostly do it for the hate clicks. they know some people will be so upset they'll go to the site and complain in the comment section or at very least read some of the article.
You can't just outright give the game a 0 or a 1 or something because it clearly is well made so they usually go with 6 or 7, even though in this case its clearly at VERY LEAST an 8 or 9
honestly I can't wait. Link to the past and BOTW are my two favorite games ever made (I flip flop over which I love most) this looks like it could be even better. I'm gonna have to take that day off of work.
@YoshiF2 you're putting words in my mouth so this conversation is over.
I'm not nintendo. I don't have the answers you're looking for. I also didn't make the game so please stop taking your frustrations out on me.
The ORIGINAL POST YOU RESPONDED TO, was about how 2D mario is more profitable than OoT style zelda. You've turned this into rantting at me because you don't like the new Zelda games direction. I don't care. I don't care about you or your opinion or your hate.
@YoshiF2 I never said the dev time was a bad thing. I simply said they took a long time.
As for people REBUYING Oot. I know this is true because I DID. So did you am I right? in fact I'm willing to bet most people old enough to have been around for both releases on this website own or have owned both.
You're also talking about the n64 install size the day Oot released vs the switch install size the day BOTW released? it was zero, the switch had zero units before BOTW released. they released the same day, it was a launch game. the N64 was around 12mil at the time. so yea 12mil vs 0.
Also hey you ARE ALLOWED to hate this game. You can hate all you want. you can sit in your room and play OoT to SS all day and it's 100% fine, but you aren't changing anyones mind. BOTW is the highest selling highest rated Zelda game of all time. As someone who is old enough to have been around for the original LOZ release its what I always felt 3d Zelda SHOULD be. so go on and continue hating but my mind is made up, I think it looks really good and I'm buying it day one.
@YoshiF2 er sorry buddy but most of what you said is flat out incorrect.
first off it wasn't JUST OOT that took that long to make. It was every single 3d Zelda with the sole exception being MM.
Secondly comparing ports to the original release doesn't work because people REBUY the game so no its not reaching the same amount of people. not to mention all of the extra work and lots of extra money that has to be put into said ports. BBBBUUUUUTTTTT if you want to play that game.... BOTW has sold around 30million units, Oot on the n64 sold around 7.9. On the 3ds (its only officially SOLD port as the two on gamecube where a pre order bonus and a collection disk that was a pack in) it sold another 6 million units. so no
Also I was talking (to someone else mind you) about the difference between 2d Mario and Oot style Zelda NOT between Oot style Zelda and BOTW style (which is truer to the original if you are as old as I am and remember having actually explore and not be told what to do every 5 mins by your fairy or sword or whoever)
Also you can say that BOTW "Split" the fans as much as you want but that "split" isn't the 50/50 you think it is. its closer to 95% of fans loving it and 5% being mad that its not Oot so they choose to be loud online about it.
the world looked so huge when he got knocked off of the sky island, yet not a single shrine. also I'm pretty sure you'll have to "fuse" the masters word back together. looks super interesting.
the gameplay didn't blow me away, but it looks like the game will. Fusing is going to be super fun and I'm sure someone will find he best and fastest way to get a crazy strong weapon super early on.

@Uncle_Franklin the difference being that 2d Mario is a cash cow. easy and cheap to make, and sells 10s of millions of copies.
OOT style zelda took 4 to 6 years of production and did much worse than the 30plus mil BOTW sold.
so hey keep holding your breath.
