Looking for external monitor solutions for your Nintendo Switch? Then the C-FORCE C-air might be the ultra-slim and portable screen you've been looking for! Our US-based video producer Zion Grassl recently got a chance to demo an earlier version of this product with the Nintendo Switch. It's certainly handy if you do want to play a game of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate or something else when you're out and about, but don't necessarily want to be restricted to system's screen.
This 4K HDR display comes with a video hub (to connect the Switch and monitor), two USB cables and some controller mounts compatible with the Joy-Con controller grip. Unfortunately, though, it does seem to have quite a few setbacks. Apart from the Switch not supporting 4K output, the screen struggled to start up when running off a power bank, and more serious issues on the technical side include ghosting and motion blur when playing games. The speakers are also a bit of a letdown. As cool as the idea is, this monitor is apparently a bit of a mess.
Fortunately, the product is still in its prototype state - so there's a chance it could improve before being officially released. Get the full rundown in the video above. Would an external monitor like this one interest you? Let us know in the comments.

Seems like a hassle compared to just playing on the Switch itself.
I really see 0 reason to even think of doing this. The Switch is a portable system, you don't need an external monitor for it.
This is so stupid it's not even funny. Sorry, had to be said.
Also he is laying the Switch flat on the monitor case. Which means it's going to overheat since he is blocking the air intake of the Switch. NEVER place the Switch down like that while in use.
Why would anyone pay for a 4k screen to specifically use with a system that tops out at 1080p?
I’m pretty sure the screen is only 4K so that it looks like it’s better than it is. Capping out at 1080 means that you’re paying for a screen you’ll never properly use.
There’s already an abundance of external monitors available for Switch, they’re called televisions. Seeing as how this is just as portable as a television, I think I’ll pass.
“It could be improved” but it won't. Motion blur is the result of inexpensive screen tech, not something they can just tune out.
People: I need to replace my Switch with a smaller one with less features.
Also people: I need a portable TV to attach to my Switch.
I ended getting an Anker Nebula Capsule for tabletop sessions because everyone I knew complained and refuse to play on the Switch's tiny screen (also for travel in general). Got quite the setup now and it didn't cost too much (cheaper and better than a portable screen), here is what I got in case anyone is interested in doing the same.
Anker Nebula Capsule
Xiaomi Mi Power Bank 3 (Can power the dock for around 10 hours, I think maybe more. And yep it's safe)
Anker powercore + 26k (Charges the projector for about 20 hours)
Great little setup that dosen't even take up half a compartment of a backpack. Also I might add that I went with this setup because I refused to use a third party dock and risk bricking the switch. It's 100% safe. Also in case anyone is wondering about the quality of the projector, it only does 720p but looks fine. They recommend a maximum of 100" but I project it on my entire wall that would be way over that and that's what I watch all my movies etc. on soo. It's no good in daylight but fine in a dim room and dosen't need complete darkness. It has its own speaker too.
I might add that the Anker powercore+ that I have does not have power delivery and won't charge the Switch while playing (keeps it around even) so I don't recommend it. Get another Xiaomi instead, they are insanely cheap and do it all.
Anyways, hope this helps out anyone looking for a portable big screen setup. Works great.
This is completely idiotic. The system doesn't even support UHD resolution, or HDR for that matter, so why bother? An HD screen would have been cheaper, less power hungry etc.
I would expect the next logical step for Nintendo to be an upgraded Switch with a 1080p screen that supports current docked performance in handheld mode (though we should also be able to switch to standard 720p handheld mode for the purposes of conserving battery life, especially for less demanding games that would not particularly benefit from the added performance/resolution).
Dat portability, though.
@merph maybe futureproof? We don't know yet about Switch 2 if they will go 1440p or 4K 30fps. You want to get the best monitor of course cos eventually the hardware will catch up
... I can't stop imagining using motion-based features with this and flailing the monitor about...
A very long ad...
I thought the thumbnail was a parody...
Back when the GameCube was Nintendo’s current system I had an external monitor that could connect to it and attached to the top and I got so much use out of that on planes and road trips. It was really great!
That being said, I don’t necessarily get the point of this for Switch. Sure it’s a bigger screen but it’s a screen for a system that already has its own substantial screen. I’d be curious if they sell many of these.
Can the human eye even detect a difference between 1080P and 4K on such a small screen? Not that it matters, since (as pointed out several times in this thread) the Switch caps out at outputs of 1080P, anyway. This seems like the biggest waste of money I’ve ever seen.
Maybe it makes sense for Nes mini, snes mini and raspberry builds. They should fix the motion blur problems and set a god refresh rate. But for the switch... Makes little sense... I do think a portable projector for the switch makes sense... But a screen that size is to much of a hassle if you already have the switch screen.
Become the one man band of gaming!
I have a portable monitor for traveling. I used to just carry my second dock with a HDMI cable but increasingly I find the TVs HDMI ports in hotels to be inaccessible.
So I got a shell for my dock to reduce the size and a 15' portable monitor along with the Soundcore Mini 2 speaker. The dock provides the power and HDMI signal to the monitor and the whole set up doesn't really take up that much space. And I don't have to worry about frying my Switch as I am using the official charger and dock.
It's definitely not for portability but it's great to play games on a bigger screen when I'm traveling.
@KoiTenchi The gamecube one made sense though. The screen attached to the gamecube itself and could fold shut, not to mention the battery pack that attached to the bottom. It never made it more or less portable really, it was just brilliant for it's time.
This however just makes the Switch massively less convenient. Not to mention it's a 4k screen for a system that outputs 1080p at best, a lot of the time not even that. There's absolutely no point to it. This is just a garbage product for people with too much money.
If you want a good small portable screen Gstory makes a very nice 11.6” portable screen that has a excellent screen with great built in speakers.
The one you can hook up to a Xbox or PS4, you do need the dock but still very portable.
Well at least is a proof of concept.
It could be useful if Nintendo decides to make a Switch without a screen.
Then you just need to show that you can run a console on a power-bank and you can make any console portable.
Not that there will be a marked for that.
There's probably a bigger market for a cheap Switch with out screen and battery for use as a more classic console.
You can even make a M64 game card for Switch and sell it with use a cheap Switch console and call it the retro console or something.
After all you can get access to the NES and SNES games too.
