@Dr_Corndog I used to buy shareware off a spinner rack at the grocery store. They came in little plastic packs where the front would swing down. I live in the Dallas area, so I picked up full Wolfenstein directly from Apogee, and full Doom from id. id wasn't really cool with it and they changed their policy to no customers allowed. True story.
I don't want to even think about Pikmin 4 without touchscreen stylus controls. So much better than the wiimote and chuk controls I had thought were perfect. I don't want to think about SMM2 without the Gamepad.
I was just out of high school when Sonic came out, and it's one of a trio of games I remember playing with my sister (the others being Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country). I haven't played much since the first two, and for some reason, I lost my enjoyment of the first two until recently. It's kind of hard to figure out how you're supposed to play them, but if I take my time instead of trying to blast to the end, it's fun. I'm really enjoying the Sega 3D Classics lately. Maybe I'll fire up Colors for Wii later, though I didn't much like it before.
PM and TTYD are two of the best games ever made. I have come to despise SPM, and at least SS was a return to 60% of what the first two were. If they'd just add partners and an attack system like the first two, I'd be fine with things. I'll buy this (boycott because you don't want to play it, but the only message Ninty will get from poor sales is to end the series, not go back to the basics), but I'm sure I'll be dreaming it was something else.
@smashbrolink Well, that sounds fine, then. I just watched a few seconds to keep the game fresh for me, but I saw a guy shoot a bird and when he climbed up to it, it was a roasted leg. Maybe he was using a magic arrow or a fire arrow?
@HeroOfTime32 I can't say you're wrong, but I could point out that Link has to be awakened at the start of most Zeldas. He's a really lazy guy until the adventure kicks in!
My only dislike was shooting game and having it turned into a fully-cooked piece of food. Hunting isn't realistic in any game, but if you're going to do it, make Link collect raw meat.
I don't even want to see extensive coverage of the new Zelda. Just a small teaser so it's fresh when I actually play it. I'd be interested to see a comparison between the Wii U and NX versions, but that isn't going to happen.
I'd say Minish, but I barely remember the DS games. I think I liked Spirit Tracks a little more. I do like how it tracks the receding of the seas, with ST having an almost completely dry Hyrule.
I'm a little older, so the rumor I heard was in regards to the 2600 Donkey Kong. It was said if you pulled the cartridge out while the game was running, you would unlock the "pie factory" level. Kind of nonsensical, kind of malicious.
If the NX is truly more powerful than a PS4, Nintendo should team with Valve and make the NX a Steam platform. "Will the NX have Red Dead Redemption 2?" "It will if it's ported to PC, along with a hundred thousand existing Steam titles." And EA being non-Steam with Origin will require a separate deal.
I bought the first Indy and the first Potter before I learned my lesson that these games are not for me. Well, I think I bought a Star Wars at the 3DS launch. Change the characters and locations, but the gameplay is just the same thing ad nauseum. I'm still tempted to try City.
I'm using an old and unsupported browser on my phone--which is my fault, but I like what I like--and this is practically unusable. The big menu bar takes up half the screen and scrolls with the content, so it's always there. Really saw no reason to change, but hey, it's not my site.
@Alundra-1998 Yes, slopes are there now. You have to shake a pipe for two hours every time you want to place one, and if you stop shaking for even a millisecond, the time period resets. But, it's worth it!
As a lifelong hater of slowdown, I can't join in enjoying this particular "glitch." Still, cool people find ways to get creative with unintended "features."
I don't really get the Sticker Star hate--outside of no partners, it's not as far afield of the first two PM games as people make out--but I just want this to feel just like PM and TTYD. Super Paper Mario is the best game I hate. It was a good game on its own, but thinking of it as a PM game gives me a headache. I'll never play it again. Give me partners, even give me Goombella if you want.
All I want to know is, will this work for Wii games. I transferred them over and can't play many of them. I'd love a wireless solution. Don't care about fight game input lag.
Restore points are a disaster waiting to happen with a game like this. I created one for Earthbound before I really understood the restore point system and I was paranoid the rest of my playtime that I would accidentally restore and lose hours of progress. I'd periodically make a new restore point just in case, but I would have been happier had Nintendo allowed restore points to be deleted once created.
@shani If somebody has a horizontal warp pipe to exit an area with a little space behind it, I'm always disappointed if they didn't put a hidden block there.
50 years from now: "Back in my day, we didn't HAVE minigames on the loading screens (unless we had Namco games, and we DIDN'T)! We just looked at a status bar or Donkey Kong riding on a barrel and we LIKED IT!"
