Knocking the CDi game is as unfair here as it was when James and Mike did it. It displays potential. Had it been finished, it might have been very good. It certainly already surpasses the released Nintendo games for the system.
Ropes attached to feet and hands that, combined with reflective tape, let the system know how you are moving about = NINTENDO HAVE CREATED TEH REAL HOLODECK!
It's fun seeing and hearing classic Animal Crossing in the most capable format it's seen (except maybe Amiibo Festival, which I never played). The best thing about it is the ideas that will migrate to the next mainline entry, just like Desert Island Escape and furniture placement came to New Leaf from AF and Happy Home. I don't really want crafting or maybe even friendship levels, but it's cool to think more interactive PWPs and more animations for the animals (cooking, stretching, playing instruments, etc,) will be present, as well as fishing nets and honey. All in all, I like the new ideas here.
I prefer linear ‘Vanias myself, but this is looking pretty good. Maybe IGA can do these and Konami can go back to their roots with their own Castlevania games. Ha! That’ll happen.
@imgrowinglegs There have been A&W restaurants since your parents (or even grandparents!) were kids. They are kind of like Dairy Queen. I think they fell out of favor and maybe even went regional for a while, but now they are a Yum brand. In my area, they are usually in the same building with a Long John Silvers. I have to believe the quality has taken a hit.
Sega’s process might have been onerous to the developer, but it protected the consumer from buying a broken game. It looks like this game select “feature” was designed to circumvent hard to reproduce bugs, so I guess it’s not a bad solution. As long as the developers made sure you could finish the game 99% of the time by playing it correctly, I guess this is okay.
But I’m not hitting my Saturn to see if it works with that version of the game.
I just wanted the ability to invert the C-stick. I could never get used to it rotating the way it did (I don't remember the details). If I could have inverted it, I'd have no complaints at all.
@RandomNerds There was a high profile Fantastic Four comic book drawn by Bryan Hitch that had the same error. I was thinking, "What, are they throwing them at the FF?!"
@holygeez03 It's true stereo. The best SCART cable manufacturers include a separate wire to pull audio from the headphone jack and carry it along with the RGB signal. The model 1 reputedly has better stereo sound than the model 2, though most of us back then didn't experience it since we were just using the RF or composite cables and not even thinking about mono vs. stereo.
I foolishly left my Atari 2600 light sixer in a storage shed for 20 years. At some point, the end of the RF cable got ripped off, but it just plugs in inside the unit. Once I replaced that, it works fine.
I think Pikmin 3 is still one of the prettiest games ever made (the lighting and the wet surface shaders are amazing), so I can't wait to see what 4 will look like. I will miss the stylus controls. I do wish the Switch still worked like the Wii U in the two screen regard.
@faint Then tears of sorrow will become tears of joy. 😂 I don't think the new game looks bad, but the idea of giving someone Shaq Fu is just amusing, based on the reputation of the old game. "Sorry about Mighty No. 9. Here, have Cheetahmen 3."
@KingMike Oh? I will have to look for that version. I was always a Marble Madness fan but have never owned any version. I suspect it can never be as good without a trackball, but still fun.
@Priceless_Spork No extra DK level. Castlevania III has better music in Japan, and Contra has more animated backgrounds. In the case of the latter, it's not Earth-shattering, but it is nice. Also, I believe the Japanese Fantasy Zones are supposed to be a lot better than the US games.
@Ryu_Niiyama I haven't seen it in the game (no Switch yet), but it could be a little different. The obscene gesture involves the one arm up like the Inkling, and the arm behind it has the forearm in the crook of the elbow, rather than the hand resting on the bicep. It was an '80s schoolyard favorite here in Texas.
The story says it's not considered offensive in the US or U.K. I can't speak for the U.K., but it's been an obscene gesture in the US all my life. It's the equivalent of the middle finger here. I'm glad they just altered the animation instead of removing it completely, because it makes Inkling Girl look like the badass she is.
@wiggleronacid That's exactly it. I expect to enjoy this title, but I'll enjoy it even more when I have solid proof that this isn't Pikmin from now on. Paper Mario is the exact cause for concern. Once the fourth Pikmin is announced, I'll fully embrace this (assuming it's any good).
@Pluto14 If you like the others, you might as well get Dream Team. It's very much more of the same. The only real change I can remember were the papercraft battles.
@Supadav03 It's exceedingly unlikely this won't play SNES games. It has the little C-nub. It's almost certainly a New 3DS without the 3D. Wait for confirmation, sure, but this isn't something I would doubt too much.
I would be 9 later that year. I had a friend whose dad would have known about Usenet. I never had a Game and Watch. The closest I came was a tabletop Donkey Kong Jr.
I'll look forward to this game more when it's confirmed this is not what Pikmin is now. After what they did to Paper Mario, my trust isn't high. If it's merely a spinoff, it looks really good, actually. But, if this is the future of Pikmin? Angry face!
They lost me when it was apparent the story was straight out of the Occupy movement. In interviews, it seems they were taking the urine out on Microsoft as part of that, which seems pretty self-indulgent.

New Stanley the Bugman game. You heard it here first.
Re: Review: Oh...Sir! The Insult Simulator (Switch eShop)
@Leon_S_Kennedy Another NWP reviewer gave it a 6. His bottom line was that it was charming and funny, but kind of thin for a game.

Kind of weird that the log-rolling world is gone. I hope that doesn't carry over to the next "real" entry.

Sam Freeman. I haven't heard about him in a long time.
