@LazyGamer - they have to walk a line between having fun and staying reputable. They have to make it pretty obvious and stick to April 1, or people would have to question everything they posted.
That is the actual music from the prototype? I didn't know the GBC was so capable. That's a great rendition of Streets of Laredo. I heard Buffalo Gals and Pecos Bill, but I've skipped around/haven't watched it all yet.
We WANT good third-party games, so let's hope he's right. Besides, it's nice to see someone that enthusiastic about their project. If I have the dough, I plan to download when it comes out (though I'll miss out on the Lego preorder figure).
There may be a good chance this will stay Nintendo-only, since Nin is publishing.
BTW, I haven't been that fond of the other Lego games, either, but this looks different.
So, this is multiple choice? Ehh. That changes the whole dynamic. Typing would be tedious, but like PC versions I've played and closer to the actual show.
I had Mr. Do on the Coleco. I played the others at the arcade, but I'm not sure I knew there were any other home versions. I hope there's a comparison video on YouTube!
@NinGamer85 Thanks, yeah, I'm finally coming to grips with combat, but I still need to work on flight and other stuff. Having to sit up to play, as you say, does limit my play time. I wish sometimes I could just lie in bed and play! But, I like that I'm getting into the "charming characters" area of Zelda right now. That guy's reaction when I broke his chandelier was hilarious. And I like that Link's bird looks a lot like the King of Red Lions.
Skyward Sword. I've had it since launch, but I'm just getting to it (don't know why). I just finished the first dungeon and am trying to deliver some soup. Other than combat, I find some of the motion controls annoying. Balancing on ropes. Rotating stones to open doors. Eh. I'm enjoying it though.
I have the NES one. I didn't know about the later revision, but, yeah, the front lit screen doesn't look that great. And my original DS Lite that could play GBA games has a fritzy screen.
I'm not a big fan of the Lego games, but this looks good. I can't advocate buying Wii U exclusives you don't want just to show companies there is interest in third party games, but if you have any interest, it would make a strong statement if it was a success.
It reminds me a lot of Sunset Riders, but it wouldn't surprise me if he hasn't played that. "Whoa! Western town with crates to climb!" may make me think SR, but it's fairly logical for a western game. Also, fighting animals near a train screams Express Raider to me, but I again wouldn't be surprised if he hadn't even heard of it.
... as I already downloaded The Cave and Balloon Fight earlier this week, lulz. With tax, BF came to $.32. If they're doing ten games, $3.20. Hell, I'll buy them all at that price. I wish Donkey would be the hacked version that Ninty gave me on the 3DS recently.
Watch out, lady. I want to smash that pot sooo bad.
I'm now glad I didn't replay WW. It should be a fresh experience. I, too, hope they go with their original plans over the triforce fishing we got because they were running out of development time.
I've had the Wii U and NSMBWU since NA launch, and I'm still playing. I'm probably slower than average, but it's a big game. I got some eShop cards for Christmas and am downloading ZombiU
@ajcismo "Next time you're fishing in northern Quebec, plug this bad boy in that 19-inch old color tube tv in the camper. That's all that its good for."
Better yet, tie it to your line and see if you can attract a Cheep-Cheep.
I went to the arcade to play the new Mortal Kombat II, but it was mobbed. I looked around for something to play until it was free, and saw a game with a TMNT-style cabinet. Sunset Riders. I was blown away. Until then, the most prominent western game was something like Express Raider, which was fun, but not outstanding. Riders had colorful graphics, memorable characters, and special stages like the horseback sequences and the bonus stages. It got to where I went to the arcade specifically for it!
Anyway, this game looks a little crazy, but I bet Sunset Riders influenced them just a little.
Oh, yeah. Cheyenne was another cool '80s western game.
Oh @sinalefa you are a wonderful person. Not too many people seem to remember or care about Sunset Riders, but it was one of my favorites. I guess most people would call Red Dead Redemption the best western game, but Sunset Riders holds a special place with me.
"Oh! Those terrible men! Please help!" "Alright, ma'am. Don't worry about it."
Those of you who like the first two Paper Marios, have yet to play this, and are feeling disappointed, you really need to play it before you make up your mind. It's a classic Paper Mario through and through. Instead of leveling up your HP, you are periodically given HP+ markers for defeating mini-bosses or what not. It's doled out in a similar fashion to leveling up and is at worst comparable to Zelda heart containers. Fighting becomes optional like it always did, but you get cool stickers from certain enemies (boomerangs from Boomerang Bros., as an example). Some here who have played the game are disappointed, so you may be too, but it looks and feels like the originals to me.
This is a great game. I love the first two Papers, and this is not significantly different when you play it. I like the map system. It breaks the various areas into chunks, which allows them to be more focused and actually gives you more of those areas. Backtracking is then sort of like the 3D Marios, in that you go back in with a different goal.
I wouldn't have minded if Miyamoto had given them complete free rein, but this is a terrific game.
@craig0rneil3 The first two are in my top three games of all time, and I wasn't previously crazy about RPGs. I expect this one will live up, but you certainly couldn't go wrong trying the first on VC.
Do want. Reminds me a little of LostWinds, at least in terms of being unique and relaxing. Speaking of, too bad Frontier is apparently tied to the Xbox as I'd love Wii U LostWinds 3.
That voice actor sounds just like Robert Carlyle (because it is)! I've heard it's a mix of the two types of CV games. I hope it leans more original, as I've had my fill of Metroidvania.
I do indeedily live reasonably close to Grapevine Mills, though I've never been there. I wouldn't need this store personally, since I can get my adorably sweet Paper Mario goodness anywhere, but it's nice for its target audience. I feel like the mothers would look at me with alarm if I was in a Kids store. I don't have any, you see.
I really haven't found it to be too short. I'm only able to play for about an hour before bed, so even though I downloaded it the moment it went up, I'm still just about to start on World 6. The size has really worked out, as far as I'm concerned. I only have about 72,000 coins, though.
The best of these, to me, is Jetpack Joyride. I just checked my stats and I'm approaching 48 hours of playtime. And we're talking a totally casual game. Not sure I'd need it on my 3DS, though.
A few months ago, a story was going around that a Wii U GTA V was listed on Rockstar financial sheets. A spokesman said they don't comment about such things, but I don't think it's all that far-fetched (though I don't think CDON knows anything anyone else doesn't).
I was going to wait and see how the situation with Amazon was going to shake out, but I finally got antsy and bought my Deluxe from Best Buy on Friday. I liked the idea of preordering from Amazon and not having to pay until November, but they're not playing ball. From Emaan's post, it sounds like I could have essentially had the same deal had I walked into a BB, but this way I have already paid and therefore am assured a system (or I'll have to use my hammer and boot stickers on someone).
I'll buy games instead of wasting coins. If I hadn't used coins on a game or two, I'd have had enough for a gold nunchuk. I have enough now and am just waiting for it to be reoffered.
Good to see a bunch of fellow geriatric gamers who played this game when new. I'm off to look for trailers, as this is the first I'm hearing about the remake.
My problem is I'm an inverted control player and that option isn't available here. I can't get used to the controls and it's frustrating. Give me that option and it might be a favorite.
My favorite as a kid (and it has since become a meme in its own right) was from Data East's Captain America and The Avengers. Whirlwind comes out of the bank with a ridiculous laugh, and his henchmen say, "Don't disturb us!" Cap responds, "Why should it goes well?" The former is actually voiced, but the latter is just text on the screen. I guess the voice actor said, "I'm not saying that!"
Ahh yeah. I can still hear Pitfall 2 in my head after all these years. That was a pretty revolutionary game--kind of Pitroidvania, with backtracking and an end goal. LOL.
I think it makes good business sense to downplay a Wii U version since the other versions will be released first and they don't want people to pass up a purchase now. But, they are boosters of the system and the system can handle the game, so I'm confident it'll get a release.
I loved Borderlands, but my expensive new PC couldn't handle the final section (it bottlenecks on other games as well), so I gave up out of disgust for my computer. I only like keyboard and mouse for FPSs, so I don't know what I'll do.

I saw this demonstrated. Luigi's head was on Mai Shiranui's body. S/he was still sexy.

I would play this with the D-pad. I can only play New Super 2 with the D-pad? Am I the only one?
I like partially inflating monsters to keep the ones behind me from sneaking up. As I recall, it gets a little hectic.
Another vote for all Mr. Do games on VC! Make 2013 the year of Luigi AND Do!
