Do fighting game purists even consider Pokken a "real" fighting game? I know nothing about the genre and even I felt Pokken's gameplay to be very shallow.
Still think this takes place in the Downfall timeline or whatever it's called, what with all the callbacks and similarities to the original Zeldo and whatnot.
Still not a huge fan of the artstyle! The game would be 10 times more awesome if they used GBA-like sprites. Looks very fun nonetheless...... although I can't seem to find it on the NA app store?
@Desrever I know people think Kellam is funny but his gimmick becomes really repetitive and he started to annoy me a bit by the time I started my second FE:A playthrough. At least he's memorable though, unlike some other characters who possess less personality than a wet dishcloth (see: Cherche).
@00Wyvern You're right, although it still isn't enough for me to get it at launch. I waited almost 3 years to get a PS4, and 2 years to get a Wii U. I'm in no hurry really.
@LArachelDisciple Uncharted isn't 3rd party. ME and FF are on Xbox One which I think Sony is more worried about when trying to compete, so I don't know what point you're trying to make.
@BinaryFragger Tell me about it. Some of the most annoying comments on this site are the ones that urge people to be more positive and accepting while at the same time belittling and downright insulting those who dare disagree with them.
@kenrulei I'm not concerned with the fact that they're charging for online. I want to know if it costs as much or less than something like PS Plus. As it is, the Switch's online service offers substantially less than the PS4 in terms of the free games it offers and the games that have an online mode.
If it's something like 30 or 40 dollars I will be perfectly happy to pay it though. I just wish they could announce a price already.
EDIT: Also worth noting I'm already unhappy with the fact that PS+ is almost mandatory now if you want the most out of your PS4 to begin with. "The competition does it so it's justified!" is a simplified argument, you have to look at how Nintendo is handling this.
Some of these comments are really confusing. What's wrong with people wanting more options? Personally, I prefer listening to things in their original language, whether it be for games or movies.
@Syrek24 "Not appealing to Wii U users" isn't a reason to disregard a game. A userbase has plenty of different people with varied tastes. Stop lumping third parties together and cherry-picking.
@Syrek24 Are you actually serious? I like the 3DS games (except maybe Birthright), but your logic is so skewed. The old FE games are fine, the only "archaic" ones are the first three, and Gaiden is getting the remake it desperately needs (with the old artstyle you seem to pointlessly criticize no less).
Sales don't indicate quality, and vice-versa. You answered your own question, games like Shadow Dragon simply weren't marketable enough during the DS era. Awakening's boom in popularity is partially attributed to the fact that it was released at the right time, as well as the fact that it's more approachable to newcomers. Another thing that helped FE's boost in popularity was a lot of fanservice, which I personally do not mind, but the fact that it's there is undeniable at this point. (Also your complaints apply to Final Fantasy Tactics, a game similar in nature to the Fire Emblem games, but of course that had name power behind it... although using your logic Tactics would be a flop with these "archaic" elements... just goes to show using sales as an argument is very shallow.)
Compelling story and characters? Really? Even the biggest fans of Awakening and Fates had negative things to say about the plot, a poorly handled mess. Fire Emblem was never a story series to begin with, but if you think somehow Conquest had a more interesting and well written yarn than, say, Genealogy of the Holy War, I don't know what to tell you. Not to mention another big complaint people had about the 3DS games were the one note characters, uninteresting self insert MC's and overeliance on anime tropes. Not to say the cast for 13/14 is bad... but saying they're a step above is... something I really, REALLY disagree with. Moreover, your complaint about "political dialogue" is extremely silly, it was present in the 3DS games as well. It's a war... what do you expect? And honestly, I thought it was pretty cool.
Complaining about music and art style? Again, really? The GBA sprites are beautiful and haven't aged a bit, and they haven't aged to this day. The music is similarly great.
The only points I agree with are permadeath turning people off, and ho hum presentation. Although I prefer substance over style any day, something like FE8 provides to be a compelling game experience to this day. Awakening's abundance of "rout the enemy" missions and completely eliminating strategic elements like the magic triangle was questionable.
Sorry, I know it feels like I'm going round in circles but comments like yours really frustrate me. You're harping on the old FE fans and using exaggerated and even flawed logic to make it seem as if what they like is inferior to what YOU like. With that reasoning, if they can't be considered "real fire emblem fans" then neither can you. I personally disliked FE12 and won't pretend as if the older games are perfect, but all entries in the series have their strengths and flaws. Sorry for the text wall.
@Faruko Steam is undeniably the superior experience, I've been subbed to PS Plus since the PS3 days because the free games offered at the time were really good. Since the PS4 released, they've become increasingly worse, and I'm not very happy about it.
I'm really excited. Hopefully we'll get more information about FE Warriors. (I hope they don't dedicate a lot of time to the Fates port if it is real, Fates is just ugh... even Conquest)
My family bought the Uncharted 4 bundle for 200 pounds last year... I know the PS4 has been out for a good few years at this point but surely Nintendo can do the same with a game like 1 2 Switch?
Either way, I'll be waiting for the inevitable MK8D/Odyssey bundle this holiday.
I'm getting a Switch later on purely because Mario Odyssey looks god tier. Nintendo consoles have been secondary to my PC and PS system for a while now, so long as the first party titles are great, I'll be more or less satisfied.
Also off topic but I'm glad I'm not the only one who misses ONM. Great mag.
If you could carry them over free of charge, surely it would have been announced by now? I hope I'm wrong, a lot of games I have on the Wii U are digital.

Still think this takes place in the Downfall timeline or whatever it's called, what with all the callbacks and similarities to the original Zeldo and whatnot.
Re: Review: Fire Emblem Heroes (Mobile)
@RGnsd The micro-transactions are overpriced... It's still cool seeing FE on a mobile device, it's just not the type of game for me.
Re: Review: Fire Emblem Heroes (Mobile)
I thought it was too easy and boring. Overpriced too.
I'll wait for Echoes.
Re: Super Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild and Splatoon 2 Lead Switch Reveal Trailer Views
Not a surprise. Mario Odyssey is by far the most interesting and appealing game on the Switch in my opinion.
Re: Out Now: Fire Emblem Heroes Is Available To Download On iOS And Android
Still not a huge fan of the artstyle! The game would be 10 times more awesome if they used GBA-like sprites. Looks very fun nonetheless...... although I can't seem to find it on the NA app store?
Re: Nintendo Outlines Pricing Range for Switch Online Service
GOOD
Re: Nintendo Details How Voice Chat And Multiplayer Lobbies Work In Splatoon 2
"Normal voice chat is something I wouldn't use anyway so it's perfectly excusable to leave out parts of this feature for everyone else."
Look I don't like using voice chat in multiplayer games either but can we not do this.
Re: Fire Emblem Heroes Microtransaction Prices and Early Impressions Emerge
I'll admit it looks fun, I hope the roster expands as the game gets more popular. I'd love to see more characters from FE4/5.
Re: NieR: Automata Designer is Open to the Idea of a Switch Port
Would be great. Nier is one of my most anticipated games this year.

Re: Reminder: Nintendo Wants You to Vote for Your Fire Emblem Heroes
I voted for Erk every single day like the dutiful citizen I am
Re: Video: Fresh Shovel Knight: Specter Of Torment Footage Stalks The Earth
@Steelhead I don't think so but if you do then they will probably release a "cheat code" so you can unlock SoT without beating PoS.
Re: Nintendo Download: 26th January (North America)
The Switch can't come soon enough it seems.
Re: Parent Trap: Nintendo Switch Parental Controls Beat Console Rivals To The Punch
@Anti-Matter "They don't personally appeal to ME so NONE of their games are kid friendly."
??????? Your logic is so twisted it's not even funny
Re: The Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Will Not Feature HD Rumble
W-wait... people care about this? I'd be happier without the feature.
Re: Guide: How to Transfer Pokémon from Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow to Pokémon Sun and Moon
@Kidakairis That's a shame. NG Fissure Machamp being legal would be so ridiculously funny.
Re: Guide: How to Transfer Pokémon from Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow to Pokémon Sun and Moon
I've been out of the loop the past few days. Is Fissure No Guard Machamp actually legal?

@Henmii It already has a lot more going for it than the Wii U, it will probably sell more.

I don't like buying consoles at launch. I will buy a Switch when Mario comes out.
@Kosmo some of the information they're withholding worries me a little bit, like the price of the online service.
Re: Eiji Aonuma Teases Alternate Ending for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
@Grawlog I would personally be ok with another timeline split though.

Re: Fire Emblem Heroes Will Also Release on iOS on 2nd February
Good to hear that.
Re: Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia Coming to 3DS on 19th May
@Torakaka Still weird Corrin was absent.
Re: Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia Coming to 3DS on 19th May
@Torakaka It being mysteriously absent while the Gaiden duo got amiibo announcements basically confirms we'll be seeing Smash on the Switch.
Re: Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia Coming to 3DS on 19th May
Yes! I'm so excited. I'm really, really glad it's on 3DS too. Love the thing.
Re: New PlayStation Releases Push Evergreen 3DS Titles Down Charts in Japan
Can't wait for Dangan V3. As my icon implies, I'm a huge fan of the series.
Re: Fan-Made Prequel Metroid: Rogue Dawn Released On NES
Looks nice!
All these "DMCA in 3...2...1..." comments are unfunny and contribute nothing to a discussion, by the way.

Re: Talking Point: Considering the Paid Online Service for the Nintendo Switch
@617Sqn Yes, it will. It was like that with the Wii U too I'm pretty sure.
Re: Talking Point: Considering the Paid Online Service for the Nintendo Switch
I'm fine with it if they improve the free games policy (In other words, they let you keep the damn thing) and it's considerably cheaper than PS Plus.
Re: Splatoon 2 Will Launch On 18th August, According To UK Store GAME
I'm fine with whatever date. I still play Splatoon on a weekly basis (Even before the sequel was announced) and the sequel looks like an amazing game.
Re: Video: Mix It Up With This Puyo Puyo Tetris Switch Trailer
@StephenYap3 I will probably pick this up on PS4, and it doesn't really bother me. I like physical more than digital.
Re: First Impressions: 1-2-Switch is an Ideal Pack-In Game That's Missing Its Chance
I honestly would have a hard time trying to find a reason to buy a game like 1 2 Switch for 10 dollars, let alone 50
Re: Reminder: A Fire Emblem Nintendo Direct is Coming on 18th January
I'm really excited. Hopefully we'll get more information about FE Warriors. (I hope they don't dedicate a lot of time to the Fates port if it is real, Fates is just ugh... even Conquest)
Re: Rumour: Fire Emblem Fates Could Be Getting A Nintendo Switch Port
@Grandpa_Pixel Just anything that isn't Fates and I will be happy.
Re: Rumour: Fire Emblem Fates Could Be Getting A Nintendo Switch Port
I REALLY don't want this. It's so pointless. I'd rather have a Radiant Dawn/Path of Radiance port, or at least have them on VC.
Re: Gearbox CEO Doesn't See Borderlands 3 Coming To Nintendo Switch
One of many, sadly.
Re: Tales of & Taiko Drum Master Franchises in Development for Switch
Nice! I really like Taiko.
Re: By The Way, The Joy-Con Grip Bundled With Nintendo Switch Won't Charge Your Joy-Cons
@Anti-Matter Neither can I, lol. I can't play videogames for longer than 90 minutes or else my head starts to hurt a bit.

Re: First Impressions: Back on Track with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
@BiasedSonyFan No, it's common sense more than anything. You really think Nintendo's going to let Smash sit on the Wii U?
