Much more variety than September's Direct full of farming sims and JRPGs.
I still don't think the expansion pack is worth it with its broken online code and no commitment from Nintendo for a certain number of games each month. I've played the N64 games I wanted to in the first year and won't be paying $50 to rent the 3 GBA games I'm vaguely interested in.
Also the Splatoon 3 DLC doesn't seem to offer anything playable.
I've never played a Metroid Prime game so may try that depending on reviews and Zelda looks great.
Expansion pass is slowly improving but having played all the n64 games for about 3 hours total until my subscription ran out in October there's still not really enough to warrant spending $50.
The online doesn't work and Splatoon 3 matches used to constantly crash. (Please someone let me know if the online code has been fixed).
Without nintendo making a commitment to a certain number of games a month, I'm not giving them my money for a whole year.
If I can use one of my 2 for $100 vouchers then I'll get day one. If not, I'll probably wait for the reviews or see if it gets re-released on Switch 2 like Breath of the Wild went from Wii U to Switch.
In September I after reading predictions I thought we were going to get Silksong, GBA on online, Wind Waker, Donkey Kong to name a few and got nothing I wanted.
I'm not getting my hopes up for this one. That way anything good will be a nice surprise.
Diddy Kong Racing would probably be my pick but people forget how hard it was.
I also find that now we have more choice and more technically advanced games, it can be easy to loose interest in a 25 year old game when it starts to get frustrating.
Back in the 90s I could only afford one or two games a year so would grind it out and get my moneys worth.
I think most people would only get an hour or so out of it before switching back to Mariokart.
Not worth resubscribing to expansion pack for but I may play it if it gets added to gamepass.
I bought the Rare Replay collection for $5 so will own the game for free on xbox. There's no way I'm paying $50 a year for renting one new n64 game that I may or may not enjoy every 2 or 3 months.
I'd love a rotating screen as the switch has become one of the best ever consoles for shmups.
A proper d pad and more comfortable grips would also be nice.
I hope they add some nintendo inventiveness but at the same time don't stray too far away from the switch and other consoles as it would be nice to have something capable of playing third party titles available everywhere else.
Not being a JRPG, Pokemon or farming sim fan, it was slim pickings, though I did enjoy Kirby, Portal Collection and Splatoon 3.
The disappointment of the September Direct and the lack of any meaningful addition to the expansion pack pushed me to buy a Series X and Gamepass. My first non Nintendo console since the Dreamcast.
I have to say with all the free stuff on Gamepass, I have hardly had to spend any money on games (apart from Elden Ring) and I have hardly touched my switch since.
Nintendo could have had my full gaming budget if they had tried a bit harder but they do things their own way and the competition has lapped them several times.
I much preferred Snowboard Kids to 1080 and wish the game rather than music was being re released.
Seems unlikely though as that leaked nintendo spreadsheet a year or so ago showing the list of planned expansion pass games in alphabetical order didn't include it.
I know the current service is cheaper than the top xbox and playstation services but it literally offers a tiny fraction of the content.
Xbox offers hundreds of full games including loads of brand new AAA series x titles, xbox one, 360 and original xbox games.
Subscribers get discounts on games, free trials, achievement points which can be collected and exchanced for vouchers (making gamepass effectively free) and you only need to pay one month at a time.
Even at the current price, Nintendo would need to add gameboy, gamecube together with a promise to add at least 5 games a month for it to even approach the value of its competitors.
A games company should obviously focus on the future but offering backwards compatibility does sell those new consoles.
In the first few years of a consoles life cycle, games are scarce and at full price, so gamers are sold by something that makes their current library of games slightly better.
High initial sales means more third party developer support in the long run.
I would never buy a console within the first few years of release if it required me to pay again for games I had already bought.
I don't understand the need for these consoles. Surely a compilation pack for current consoles would be far cheaper to produce, allowing them to sell more and make more profit.
If they really want to make a retro console, Saturn and Dreamcast would get the most interest.
I'd love to play
Daytona Ready 2 Rumble Power Stone Jet Set Radio Crazy Taxi Space Channel 5
On Gamepass there are at least ten new games each month. Not 25 year old games but recent games.
Then there are hundreds of titles from Xbox, 360, One and Series X. It allows you to buy one month at a time and while slightly more expensive than the expansion pack, the difference is night and day.
While Goldeneye is the main upcoming attraction for expansion pack, its just one of hundreds of classics we get including most of Rare's back catalogue.
Unless Nintendo bring Gameboy Advance and Gamecube together with a promise to release at least 5 games a month, it's just not approaching the type of value it should offer.
She was paid the agreed amount for other completed projects and its a free world for them both to decide whether they wish to continue working together.
I'll probably wait for the reviews to come in though as I thought the previous game was a bit button mashy.
@Yosher Expansion pack is shockingly bad value. Ps5 and Xbox subscription services get 10 or so games each month.
And these are decent modern games. First party day one releases in xbox's case. We get one game every month or 2 from consoles 5, 6 or 7 generations old and don't pay much less.
Aside from a lot of the rumoured games missing, my biggest disappointment was the expansion pack and no Gameboy Advance.
Yes, we are getting Golden Eye at some point before the end of 2023 but I really thought when Nintendo added another tier to the Online service, they would try to compete with xbox and playstations subscription services.
9 N64 games over the next year, 5 of which are Pokemon and Mario Party is a joke.
@Merry_Blind To be honest it is wifi which I know isn't optimal but my console is close to the router and the Internet is pretty much as fast as you can get.
If previous online games had caused connectivity problems then I would look at running a wire to the console but I haven't been thrown out of a match once on splatoon 2.
Was that it for expansion pack. Mainly mario party and pokemon games. Where was the Game Boy Advance.
I guess I am happy with Golden Eye and 1080 but they could be a year away. Compared to PS5 and Xbox subscription services, this the expansion pack is a joke.
Out of everything else, I was happy with Radiant silvergun and obviously Zelda but I wanted
Diddy Kong Racing
Rhythm Heaven Megamix
F zero gx
Donkey Kong game
New 3d Mario
Silksong
Metroid Prime
Metroid 4
Wind Waker
New Wario Platformer
Rogue Legacy 2
Sony will get my gaming budget for the next six months or so.
I'd love to know the sales figures for these cloud games. I've only tried control so far and it was unplayable.
My Internet connection is pretty fast but there must be many with much faster Internet for these games to sell.
Also, demos only show how the games perform if you play it at a busy time when the rest of the family are using devices. I tried the demo under optimal conditions, bought the game but then couldn't play it most of the time.
I'm tempted by the improvements but it is a lot of money for such a similar game.
I'll probably wait for the inevitable September Direct to see if there are any shadow drops more deserving of my money but may well pick it up if there are no other releases or decent sales.
I've only played Wind Waker and am only mildly interested in playing Twilight Princess. While not a bad game I'm not paying full price to play it again.
This sort of game would be free on any other console either through backwards compatibility or as part of their online service.

Re: Countdown: 3DS eShop Spotlight - Rhythm Heaven Megamix
Probably my favourite rhythm game of all time and I'd happily pay for it again if it came to switch.
Re: Poll: Six Years On, Which Was Nintendo Switch's Best Year So Far?
The wow factor of having a game like BOTW available to play handheld is hard to beat.
I'd never enjoyed Zelda games or rpgs before and very nearly game it a miss but it became my favourite game of all time.
Re: Call Of Duty Will Run As You "Would Expect" On Nintendo Platforms, Says Microsoft
Nintendos own online code is completely broken. Splatoon 3 caused people to get thrown out of countless matches.
Even if Activision pull off some miracle and deliver the perfect looking port, it still needs Nintendo to sort out its online service.
Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The February 2023 Nintendo Direct?
Much more variety than September's Direct full of farming sims and JRPGs.

Something for everyone but I wasn't blown away.

Rogue Legacy 2 for me. Its replaced Hades as my favourite rogue lite.
Re: Review: River City Girls 2 - The Girls Are Back With A Strong, Albeit Safe, Sequel

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Demos - Try Before You Buy On Switch eShop
There's quite a few games on that list that I never would have purchased but ended up getting after trying the demo.
If more games had a demo or a refund option within the first hour of play, I'd definitely buy more.

Re: Feature: Nintendo eShop Selects - September 2022
Enjoying Easy Come Easy Golf but haven't played much of it due to Splatoon 3.
A bit disappointed with Shovel Knight Dig. I guess I was hoping it would be more like Steamworld dig
Re: Review: Easy Come Easy Golf - Everybody's Golf Spiritual Successor Scores A Birdie On Switch
Too many good games for my wallet this month. I've already picked up Splatoon 3, Radiant Silvergun and a ton of games in the sale.
Now we've Shovel Knight Dig and this game both of which I really want.

Re: Round Up: Everything Announced In The September 2022 Nintendo Direct - Every Game Reveal And Trailer
My favourite announcement was that the presentation was over and they were gonna stop showing me farming sims
Re: Talking Point: What Did You Think Of The September 2022 Nintendo Direct?
0/10 for me.
Was that it for expansion pack. Mainly mario party and pokemon games. Where was the Game Boy Advance.

Re: Talking Point: What Did You Think Of The September 2022 Nintendo Direct?
@Member_the_game Yeah, there was nothing there for action game fans.
Farming sim, party game, rpg and pokemon fans will be happy I guess
Re: Out Now: Treasure's Classic Arcade Shmup 'Radiant Silvergun' Surprise Drops On Switch
I'm so happy. This is better than anything else that was announced in that Nintendo Direct.
Re: More N64 Games Are Coming To The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack
No Gameboy Advance? What if you don't like Pokemon or Mario Party.
I've just gone in and set my online not to renew.

Re: Several Major Resident Evil Games Are Coming To Switch
The Final insult to a pretty awful direct.
Re: GoldenEye 007 Is Returning To Nintendo Switch
This was literally the only decent part of the Direct for me. None of the games I've been hoping for have been announced for anytime soon.
Re: Nintendo Direct Showcase Confirmed For Today (September 13th)
@Knightrider1 Yeah, me too. For some a direct full of Pokemon, Xenoblade and Zelda would be their best presentation ever.
It would do nothing for me.
Re: Nintendo Direct Showcase Confirmed For Tomorrow
F Zero GX
New Wario Land game
GBA on Expansion pack
Golden Eye
Diddy Kong Racing
Rogue legacy 2
Silksong shadow drop
Re: Splatoon 3 Connection Issues? Looks Like An Update Is On Its Way
I've been thrown out of the salmon run several times. I've even had 2 warnings for leaving matches myself even though my connection is perfect.
Very frustrating to loose all your points after playing through 3 salmon run stages.
Re: Poll: Splatoon 3 Is Now Available For Nintendo Switch, Are You Getting It?
I enjoyed Splatoon 2 and while clearly better than Splatoon 1, I was slightly disappointed at spending $60 due to how similar it was.
I'm waiting until the nintendo direct that we hopefully get next week to see if there's anything that gets shadow dropped.
If nothing decent is scheduled for the next few months, I might get it.
Re: Review: Splatoon 3 - The Pinnacle Of The Series And Switch's Slickest Shooter
@MarioBrickLayer Not unless there is a major sale and you dont mind waiting an eternity for online matches.
Splatoon 2 is great but the online lobbies will be no where near as full once 3 is released.
Considering Nintendo never do sales over 33%, I'd get the new game.
Re: Review: Splatoon 3 - The Pinnacle Of The Series And Switch's Slickest Shooter
I'm tempted by the improvements but it is a lot of money for such a similar game.
I'll probably wait for the inevitable September Direct to see if there are any shadow drops more deserving of my money but may well pick it up if there are no other releases or decent sales.

I own most of them and haven't completed a single one although I am very close with Hollow Knight and Dead Cells.
I prefer easier games in general but if it's really good like Hollow Knight I'll persevere .
