The Nintendo Direct Showcase has just confirmed that the next Splatoon 3 Splatfest is coming 23rd September 5pm PT/1am BST - 25th September 5pm PT/1am BST.
The theme for this one is slightly more unusual than those we have seen before, with you having to choose what you would bring to a deserted island: Gear, Grub or Fun?
We are still trying to decide which team we are going to end up on, but Grub is currently calling!
The announcement also confirmed that more updates will be coming soon, so keep your eyes peeled for more stages, stories and more.

Definitely grub! Although I guess tools would be helpful.
Haven't got a clue which one to go for. It's probably a toss up between grub and fun (why do I keep sidelining Shiver, she's my favourite out of them ._.) but even then that's still an extremely difficult choice. Better make my mind up before the 23rd I guess?

Team Gear, all the way. Think about it: with gear, you can round up more grub, and even create your own fun. If you only had grub (and assuming it was a limited supply), you wouldn't last long when it ran out. And if you had fun, your chances of survival are even lower than if you had the grub.
So, from a survivalist standpoint, having the gear makes the most sense, as it can be used to give yourself the grub and the fun on top of that. As someone who was in Scouting, I'd be better off using the gear to get my grub and my fun.
I hope they can resolve the online issues by then. I've been thrown out of so many matches so far.

This is a missed opportunity for an Animal Crossing collaboration! Oh well.
I’m torn between grub and gear. It’s all fun and games on a deserted island until you get hungry. Starvation is one of the worst ways to die. You gotta eat to live! However, having gear would make it way easier to get food, whether it’s hunting, fishing, or gathering. If I somehow already had grub with me on the deserted island, it would only last so long. I better keep thinking on this one.
Who would honestly prioritize "fun" over food and tools when stranded on a desert island?

@RushDawg They don't actually say you'd be "stranded"... only that the island is deserted.
So it all depends on the specifics of the scenario. Maybe we're just hopping on the island for a break while cruising the islands. In that case "fun" might be just the thing. Then again, maybe we're hungry during that break and there might not be any snacks on the island — grub would be nice. Or maybe we really like the place and want some gear to build some things for future visits...

It might be best to just wait and see how Deep Cut talks about this in the game. There’s a big difference between being trapped on a deserted island and just visiting one. If it’s survival, I think I should go with gear now. If it’s just a vacation, then I’ll be torn between grub and fun!

@AstroTheGamosian thought the same thing. just got to hope the island has enough fruit, seafood, and/or whatever else to hold over till more grows.

This splatfest question is not all that engaging, which is great cause I need to swear in as a lawyer I guess.
I’m between Gear and Fun right now. I think my friends and I will vote on one and then we will all choose that team.
its clever the way theyre doing splatfests now due to the whole "three sides" conundrum- theyre giving a question with a multiple-choice answer rather than two opposite options that require no context
@silverninja Well, seafood would likely be abundant. Fruits and plants would be another issue, though.
Looks like my plans to 100%ing the story mode might have to be put on hold but I am close to finishing the main game(I have surveyed all six sites and one boss left before I tackle the final stretch).

@AstroTheGamosian My thoughts exactly, gear is just the most logical choice in a survival situation.
