This doesn't look like Castlevania to me in art style, tone or "flow". I guess I'll just keep intermittently replaying the older entries, particularly the GBA and DS iterations. Vastly prefer the art and design of those games to this.
@roy130390 I know but since the comments are filled with people who seem to have some personal beef with the guy, I think he's a great dev. I don't have to like everything about someone to respect them. There are no saints.
@ShadLink Oh you're right, I completely forgot about that. Given this is a spin-off, maybe there's an ever so slight chance for it then. Fingers crossed!
A home demo would be great, but Pokémon games never get those. I will probably take a chance on this one regardless, it should be cute and fun for a while.
Purity test for voice actors from a different country and culture, one who has also served his time for said offences, seems off to me. On one hand people cry «cultural appropriation», and in the next breath someone will take offence because said culture is different than their own and personal morality
@BrewsterTea The problem is the demo is there to demonstrate the game and sell us on it. And until proven otherwise I will assume it is representative of the final game performance wise, because usually that is the case these days
@RumandCohibas Docked or handheld? I've only tried the demo handheld, I don't use my Switch 2 docked at all. Accusing people of being propagandists or double agents when discussing the performance of a videogame is beyond inane to me, but ok..?
@Johnny44 Hey I liked Pragmata and praised it for looking good enough and playing really well. That demo might even have swayed me to buy it, which I didn't originally plan on. I can't help that so many things around S2 are negatives to me, but I really have no problem admitting the positives. @Gohanjin can corroborate my issues with the demo here, and so did others in a forum thread. It just is what it is.
@carlos82 People are waiting for them to fix the PC version. Requires fan mods and patches to reduce stutter and even then it suffers from so much temporal smudging... Even on 5090's.
@link3710 There was a change in art style of character designs that a lot of people disliked, myself included. Not the primary reason but still a major part of why I never bothered with the sequel.
Rewrite history like it never happened, the only thing that exists is the infinite now soup of Videogame. Ever changing, ever transforming, your memories are void.
Just let my new Switch 2 hardware run the existing games at docked resolution... It really sucks we have to wait for the devs to sell us a settings unlock, or if we're lucky, maybe even for free?
I really do feel like this might be the final console generation I ever buy into. Feels like such a scam when you have things like steam deck and pc.
@spiderman0616 The evidence of the sales number estimates are in the picture with the graph. My interpretation in my own, but Nintendo themselves state it's an estimate of sell-through.
@SBandy1 The marketing around Wii U was awful, and retailers were skeptical. Nintendo also didn’t produce nearly as many units up front. The discrepancy isn’t strange at all. I have the same issues with sales numbers from Sony, I’m not playing sides here.
Why do we trust corporations with estimated statistical shenanigans like this just because they’re one we tend to favour?
Use some critical thinking with your common sense. Nintendo’s stocks are down, their fiscal year report will do anything it can to legally make itself look as good as possible to investors. From Nintendo’s POV, having sold 17m consoles to retailers is obviously money in the bank. It’s great. It doesn’t mean 17m people have bought the console.
@SBandy1 They would because they wouldn't return unsold consoles since it's obviously not a flop. Retailers are absolutely sitting on a lot of stock right now since it's not sold out anywhere, and is often slightly discounted.
Let me be more constructive: These sales numbers are Nintendo's internal estimates of individual customer sell-through rates. That is, they know they've sold this many to retailers, and they're guessing/estimating how many have actually been sold to customers.
Given that expectations where high based on Switch 1 lifetime sales, and that they produced a vast surplus of consoles this time around in time for launch, retailers would've bought a lot more stock. These numbers do not prove sales, however.
It's so weird seeing this because so few people I know have gotten one, and I mean in a very extended network of both friends and colleagues and in the indie dev scene. Have Nintendo perhaps hit more new demographics with Switch 2..? Curious.
There is a hint at the bottom of the graph: "Internal estimates of unit sales to individual customers". So what this depicts is how many units Nintendo have sold to retailers, and estimate have then been sold to customers.
These are not the real sales numbers. They produced a lot more consoles for launch this time around, and also sold way more to retailers than Switch 1 since that followed the fiasco of the Wii U, so retailers weren't willing to buy a large stock. These are statistical shenanigans.
@Kochambra Ok then they can also cut the asking price. Jokes aside, they've not just reduced grind and backtracking, they've removed what many consider to be important islands and story segments entirely. The game is also so easy now it practically plays itself.
I'll just get the 3DS version if I feel like it, I'm fine taking my time with a large game.
Only Pokopia from what I know of these games. Maybe Splatoon Raiders but I’m also very tired of the core mechanics after three games so if it’s just more of the same with a campaign I’m out.
@ShadLink The response times have nothing to do with the UI/X, music and sound effects on modern hardware. 3DS was far more restrictive hardware, and you can already feel a huge increase in response times on the New 3DS. Switch 1 and especially 2 could easily handle some music and nicer visuals... Don't make excuses for a corporation's laziness
When I say that Nintendo has changed fundamentally, this is what I mean. Switch 1/2 are both soulless, flat, featureless husks of hardware compared to the company's best consoles. From DS onwards this kind of attention to detail, ambience, and playfulness set Nintendo apart from their corpodrone counterparts.
Now it's just black/white flat theme and nothing but a few sparse beeps and boops on buttons.
It's honestly sad. Makes me feel very ambivalent listening to this, but lovely project. I still use my 3DS semi-frequently and appreciate it so much.

@marandahir So rewarding mediocrity in the hopes one day they create something you actually want?

@Hank_Scorpio That's Kojima's output in general.

I'll gladly pay Ubisoft when they release something good that I want, like this.

GBA games in a standalone release would be peak.

Re: Video: Pragmata Demo Side-By-Side Graphics Comparison (Switch 2, Xbox Series S, PS5)
I think where it's the most obvious is the hair. You see this in the new RE as well. But during gameplay that doesn't really matter at all.
I was very positively surprised by the Pragmata demo. I wish MHS3 ran that solid and felt as good to play instead of having the issues it has.
Re: Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase February 2026: Every Announcement, Game Reveal, Trailer
I don't think I've seen median ratings this low in a long time. Average at best. Nintendo really need to step up their firstparty game.

Re: PSA: Monster Hunter Stories 3 Switch 2 Trial Demo Now Available, Save Data Carries Over
@The-Chosen-one Docked? I didn't try that. In handheld it's a mess, which is the main way I play S2 since it's the whole point of it.
Re: PSA: Monster Hunter Stories 3 Switch 2 Trial Demo Now Available, Save Data Carries Over
Ingame cinematics are amazing. Once you get to gameplay it runs awful and looks smudgy and blurry… Hard pass and very disappointing on S2.
Re: Valheim Brings A Slice Of Viking Survival To Switch 2 This Year
Doubtful it’ll look better by release as it’s very demanding even on powerful pc hardware. Also quite cpu intensive

Re: Oblivion Remastered Is Adventuring Onto Switch 2 This Year
This is a mess on any platform and looks horrendous on S2 (seriously, look at the video fullscreen), which is to be expected. UE5 is a joke.
