Genuine question, why couldn't this article be titled something like "New game leaked on Japan's Nintendo website - click for more" or something along those lines? It would help NL readers who don't want to see any potential spoilers before the direct.
I would say a big flaw that is not covered here is the ability to craft using materials from your storage. Not only is it a nuisance to have to pull the materials from your storage into your inventory every time you want to craft something, it also doesn't make sense, as the idea works for other things. When you get changed using your wardrobe, it pulls clothes from your storage, as well as when you customize your home using down on the Dpad. It's just odd!
My friend made me get this game as a joke, and it wound up shocking us. It's a really fun mini game to sit around the couch and have a few beers and play with some friends. I do wish there was more content, but the multiplayer is a good time.
This sounds great, but it could also just be typical PR speak. Not getting my hopes up, but I'd love to be surprised. The last two years were pretty rough for Nintendo at E3 (minus BotW of course).
Via GoodSmile, with shipping to NY for the DX version for me came to $67.72. Not that bad considering I paid about $80 for the Lucina figure via Amazon.
I live in NY and visit the store often. It doesn't sound like too much is changing. They already have a bunch of demo displays. I do hope more locations open for other fans spread throughout the globe!
I thought she did pretty good for what it was. The CGI was incredibly well done but there was way too much of it, kind of took me out of it. I wish they had a really good prop suit to use but maybe that would cost more then the CGI? Overall pretty damn good for a short fan film. Really enjoyed the titles/credits too.
@Jordie Definitely up to personal preference. I happen to love turn-based RPGs and was very excited for this game, however for me, beautiful design and art direction can't make up for lack of story, questionable game design, unfair at times difficulty, and repetitive nature. I felt Destructoid's review of the game was pretty spot on. http://www.destructoid.com/review-the-legend-of-legacy-315769.phtml
Pre-ordered Legend of Legacy a while back with the artbook and other goodies, can't wait for that to come in. And I'm gonna pick up Chibi-Robo, missed out on all his previous efforts...not this time!
Awesome, been waiting for this review. I was leaning heavily towards getting it because adventure-platormers are some of my favorite games and they don't really come along too often these days. Sounds like this one is up my alley.
Definitely Legend of Kay, I've been craving a good platforming/adventure game. Also Dragon Fantasy has peaked my interest. Watched some videos for Canvaleon too, it looks like a pretty solid game! Hope it gets some more coverage on NL.
@zipmon I saw a video review about Legend of Legacy that stated the game was mind numbingly hard and required insane amounts of grinding, but that was playing the Japanese version. Did you notice any of this?
@ThomasBW84 Wonderful piece. The connection between Iwata and gamers is so impressively strong. All these wonderful memorials and paid respects are a testament to that.
I can't believe this news, RIP Iwata, thank you for everything! Condolences to his family and friends. As a gamer and huge Nintendo fan boy I greatly appreciate all he did for the company. His sense of humor hosting the Directs has been a personal favorite of mine. He will be greatly missed.
I am a huge Nintendo fan boy, and right now I'm kind of torn. I know there are some good games coming out, and I think the Metroid hate is childish and excessive (although it is frustrating that a new Metroid Prime-style game is not even in development). I still feel very let down by the show, especially after how good last year's was. I think that is what hurts most. Nintendo was on a roll, turning profits, announcing some great new games and IPs, and this extremely lackluster showing was very disheartening.
I am very worried about amiibo as well. I've always seen them as just a cash grab and now I'm very concerned that they will start making them required for games (e.g. Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival) and that is going to create a huge rift in the gaming community. This is a very big deal and we need gaming sites like NintendoLife and the community to express (intelligently) why this is not a good idea.
That was a great video. I never fully blamed BRB for the game, as SEGA was pushing them hard to release the game earlier then the game needed anyway.
I feel like SEGA was only concerned with getting sales from children that watch the show, and were alright with the game not being favorable to older, more experienced gamers.
This is silly. Honestly I don't know why everyone was so surprised by the announcement of NX. Nintendo has stated before that they start working on their next system right after they release their current one. NX has been in development since right after Wii U was released.
Also Nintendo has been pretty consistent with a 5-6 year gap between console releases. 1985 1991 1996 2001 2006 2012.
Nintendo just doesn't really have anything out right now.. We're in a bit of a dry spell. This Direct tonight could help rekindle the flame, but we are going to be in a lull for a little bit.
At the Nintendo World Store in NYC, they had Zelda, a few Lil Macs, and Diddy Kong. Picked up a Lil Mac, couldn't believe they were out of Luigi already. They were also out of Captain Falcon and Pit, as well as villager, wii fit trainer and marth, as you would expect.
They did have a fresh stock of the Gamecube controller adapters though, which was comforting.
I'm confused, there is an earlier article on NL stating that four 3DS games (smash, yokai, pokemon, monster) have sold over 2 million copies each in Japan, but on this list two of them are still below 2 million in lifetime sales.
It would take too much attention away from their home console / portable console business and frankly they need all the attention they can get currently.
Also look at Amazon's Fire phone. That came out with a lot of hooplah and a strong price tag not too long ago. Now it's on the verge of extinction and the price has been reduced drastically.
I too expected a bit more then that, but it's still a great number. Plus I know a lot of my friends have yet to get it, plus all the holiday shopping, it's going to do very well.
I'm curious about Pokemon's ORAS numbers. When I was in line for Smash early release, the line seemed to be filled with more people for Pokemon.
I think the amiibos, as figurines, are well-crafted and pretty cool for collectors. However their functionality, imho, seems very weak and tacked on to me. It will be interesting to see if they can maintain a popularity.

Interesting idea. I could see that happening as well, it certainly would add to reasons for buying more amiibos

What a system. I will defend the "phat" model, I got great use out of it until my bro bought me a DSLite a few years later.
