Re: Talking Point: The Super Mario Bros. Movie - What Are Your Favourite Moments?

OFFICIALMichi

ALL THE SPOILERS, be warned

A great movie but it felt more for kids specifically than I thought it would. I appreciated all the Easter eggs, they did them very well, and I was often reminded of little things like that in the 1993 film like the Wiggler cabs.

However, I don’t see myself rushing to watch it again or own it. Comparing the two (I know, I’m awful) the Sonic films are just more rewatchable as an adult. I was eager to own both of those as they came out. I’d gladly turn this on for background sound or if I’m really bored but it felt closer to Minions level film than I thought it would. Still awesome though!!

I am so glad Bowser wasn’t as terrifying as they alluded to in trailers. And I’m proud to say I called the end credit tease exactly!

If I had one complaint? The Luma joke overstayed its welcome entirely. I’m unsure what part of the fandom, the franchises, the characters, they were referencing but it just went on too long and I kind of rolled my eyes when he came back at the end. And of course I kind of wish Luigi had a little more to do, like outwit some Boos or something before his capture.

I actually loved the Kong kingdom stuff a lot. Both Dk and Cranky were awesome. DK saying “well your dads right!” got me rolling.

The brothers’ connection was flawless. I was so happy anytime they were together!

Re: Poll: Is This The Very End Of The Road For E3?

OFFICIALMichi

Everything is leaked or data mined now, and sites like this offer up to date info at your finger tips.

There’s no need for a show like e3 unless they turn it into a public space like comicon at this point, where it’s more a social event with announcements, not a press event.

Re: Fire Emblem Engage Story DLC 'Fell Xenologue' Launches In April

OFFICIALMichi

For some reason, the way this game was advertised I (incorrectly) assumed it was like a Warriors/Heroes type of spin off game. I think it may have had to do with the link rings with legacy characters.

But I am seeing it is actually a “new Fire Emblem” game. I think I need to check it out, especially now that the DLC is not just extra ring characters.

Re: Mario Movie Directors Explain Their Take On Princess Peach

@BabyYoda71

-She was very capable in Subspace emissary, having been kidnapped about the same as most any other character.

-There was a video game that was named Super Princess Peach where she saved her friends and kingdom, even defeating Bowser. She was able to hone her emotions to give herself powers thanks to the effects of the vibe scepter.

-In games like Super Mario RPG she is a very capable party member who bashes people with frying pans and the like.

-She’s no slouch in sports and racing games by any means.

But you’ve already made up your mind so I’ll stop there.

Re: Mario Movie Directors Explain Their Take On Princess Peach

I mean she’s been shown to be strong and capable for decades now.

I’m all for her character and what they are doing in the movie but is the take seriously that this is innovative and new?

Hell, even in the abhorred Hoskins movie the princess (don’t get me started) was a strong woman, who even after capture was pretty capable.

Re: Class-Action Lawsuit Claims Epic Games Knowingly Made Fortnite "Very, Very Addictive"

The point of games is to be enticing. The game is free and needs a way to make money. FOMO is literally the way they make their money.

Parents need to have talks with children about these games, which do have gambling-esque systems that coerce you to keep playing or spending. I speak with parents a lot about this.

It’s not the game that’s evil or the developers. They are doing what they are supposed to be doing. But it’s the parents job to help children navigate that. Discuss with them the worth of skins, obtained either through hours or play or money. I’ve actually had great talks with families about this where they end up changing how they think about the games and everyone is happy.

Parents are like “why can’t they stop?” Because in the old days mom and dad could pause the game and Peach waited. Now your squad dies, if you didn’t rack up enough points by a specific day you miss something forever, etc.

These parents are in the wrong. Spend more time parenting and less time litigating and it’ll be fine.

Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Wave 3 Is Out Now With New Custom Items Update

OFFICIALMichi

Alright the fact that they are releasing free updates amid the dlc is actually making me not such a grinch when people suggest new characters. There was also a recent datamine where they are slowly altering background character data like rivals or something, which also hints at more roster shenanigans.

I still don’t think it’ll happen but now I’m not thinking it’s entirely impossible.

Re: Random: Could Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Be The Final Part Of A Trilogy Of Zelda Games?

OFFICIALMichi

Wow is it Wild Theories and Rumor season already? I guess it’s still fun enough for people to type about it, but as someone who was in that world for almost 30 years, I’m just tired lol. Nintendo just makes fun games. Any connections are Easter eggs, and I don’t think anyone aside from Masahiro Sakurai thanks deep about video game lore anymore. Especially not Nintendo.

Re: Nintendo Introduces Celica In Fire Emblem Engage

OFFICIALMichi

This series relies a smidge too much on legacy content and characters nowadays. It makes sense for Heroes and did also for Warriors but I feel like Fates did a better job incorporating them as little bonus Amiibo things or something.

I love Celica but I don’t need to keep having her in games.
