Re: Best Of 2021: Developers Respond To The Recent Twitter Furore Over The Definition Of 'Game Dev'

Nin10doh

@twztid13 I'm curious how isn't QA a part of the development team? QA is a part of the development, some would argue a huge part. QA's job is literally to make sure the game's quality is up to par, which usually leads directly to the improvment of the product. Development doesn't directly translate to "coder", it is an all encompasing term. Writers, artists, mo cap specialists, voice acting are all a part of the development team.

Beta Testers I'll agree that they aren't, as the trend lately is to push it on the players themselves.

Re: Yes, Saints Row IV Is 93% Off And No, It's Not A Mistake

I picked it up as it's loads of fun. Basically matrix the game, there are some loading screen glitches. I heard most can be prevented by either redownloading or saving the game to the console's memory. Save often if you like longer play sessions, just in case.

Character creation infinite load: just select a preset character then change it later.

The alien firefight that leads to ship cutscene: don't use the alien handgun the cutscene only recognizes when you have the rifle.

Escape the ship's infinite load: turn off wifi and spam barrel roll on the last tunnel on the way out.

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate Nintendo's 2021?

Nin10doh

7/10 definitely a few misses this year 3 ports and 2 remakes, really been Metroid and MHR and MHS2 carrying all the weight, though the latter two being only exclusive for a year.

If I'm counting 3rd party games then I can bump it up to 8/10....maybe 9/10 if I squint.

2022, will be a completely different story.

Re: Review: Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition - Three Classics In One Shocking Package

Nin10doh

@KillerBOB I probably would have been fine with the game had it been just the original games ported, but be real, its not. The originals didn't not at all play like this, pop in was there, but nothing like this and nothing that would interrupt game play. The fps was 25 so that's a non issue.

However, they not only managed include new bugs that never previously existed, but the models are a hack job, and there are random crashes. These and other problems are present across all platforms, to the point that simple rerelease, no modifications would have been better than this.

Re: Watch: This Is What Grand Theft Auto Definitive Trilogy Looks Like On Switch

Nin10doh

@Bizzyb Don’t get me wrong. It’s unacceptable for a company to put out such shotty work. It runs terribly on every single platform, which goes far beyond the “lazy devs” this is just blatantly having money as their end goal, not putting out a decent remaster for games that redefined the gaming industry.

I don't mind the 25 fps, that's what it was originally running on the PS2 when the games were first released, so I'm not surprised by that. It's the overall poorer quality when compared to those same originals is what gets me. Pop in happened on the PS2 as well, graphical glitches, however did not. Even for a remaster it shouldn't be worse than the originals in this regard.

Re: Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Legendary DLC Pack 2 Is Detailed, More Coming In 2022

Nin10doh

@Yosher This is what, honestly, has been keeping me from buying any Dragonball game no matter how much they've gone on discount. The sheer volume of non-cosmetic DLC just has me longing for a complete game, not a shell that will someday have content provided customers pay for each trickle.

@Harmonie The writing was on the wall after Sims 2, which was the last Sims game I purchased. I recently checked on the subsequent follow-ups and couldn't believe all the DLC it had. It's hard not to worry that someday every gaming company will follow that model.

Re: GTA Trilogy's Physical Edition On Switch Appears To Require A Download

Nin10doh

@victordamazio Or worst of all you buy a physical single player game that requires an "online check-in" before ypu can play.

I like when conservatives attack shows and movies because it brings it to everyone's attention. It happened with Married with Children, and all the GTA games. Everyone wanted to see what the fuss was about and ended up liking it. Married with Children went on for 10 years after almost being canceled in the first couple of seasons, and GTA now being an over 20 year franchise that makes billions.

Re: Talking Point: How Many Hours Is A 'Short' Game For You?

Nin10doh

If we're talking games with no replay value, then 15-20 hours is short. However if a game has a high replay value, or a stellar story then it being that short can be excused to a degree, sadly those games are few and far between.

RPGs are one genre that tend to be 40+ hours, as they should be, as its the story that is the main driver of these games.
