Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The February 2021 Nintendo Direct, Then?

Munchlax

For me the most exciting things were coming next year. Mario golf and Skyward Sword are decent summer titles though. I think a lot of people are acting like that’s all we’ll get this year, when there has been no reveal of anything sept-dec. I highly doubt this is the only direct we’ll get now that they’re back.

Re: Random: Fan Reimagines Pokémon Sword And Shield As Game Boy Games

@Kalmaro I’ve seen this sentiment a lot, but I don’t think that it’s the 3D that’s a problem. It’s not the decision to go 3D that’s made the newer art direction feel a bit soulless, just the lack of animation (compare the static GBA sprites to the animated gen 5 sprites to see how much more expressive the animations make them). The 3D models don’t have to be this way, and if animated in a way GameFreak/Creatures are more than capable of doing, they could potentially look better than the 2D sprites. It’s just that for 3 gens in a row, they’ve intentionally chosen not to.

Re: Round Up: The Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury Reviews Are In

@electrolite77 And I respect that, and it’s good to get a second opinion, but in the case of a rerelease, it makes it harder to gauge the changes that have been made- improvements have been made, but I don’t know how much they impact the experience, because this review is lower, and this author hasn’t score a review for the original game for comparison.
Overall, I think having sites give multiple, reviewers opinions on one game is the way to go (ala Famitsu), except I feel rereleases act as an exception to this rule- they should have the same reviwer(s) as the original, so it is easier for the reader to tell what has changed. Or the changed reviewer should also include a score for what they would have given the original, for comparison.

Re: Round Up: The Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury Reviews Are In

@hadrian I was only pointing out that the sites two reviews are inconsistent with each other, andwanted to know why (which you have now told me, so thank you), as having such different reviews of the two versions makes it harder to understand the impact of the new changes.
I’m not “taking a ******” or saying that they can’t have that opinion, it’s not the score I object to, just the inconsistency between two reviews on the same site making it harder to gauge certain elements.

Re: Nintendo Celebrates Fire Emblem Heroes' Fourth Anniversary With New Updates And Rewards

Munchlax

@GrailUK Yes, the FEH playerbase is filled with whales, to the point where they are basically the only players who still play it. This probably means that the devs are powercreeping the game deliberately, knowing that their remaining audience will just keep sinking costs to stay up to date, so the game continually makes money even 4 years on with a fraction of the year 1 players.

Re: Nintendo Celebrates Fire Emblem Heroes' Fourth Anniversary With New Updates And Rewards

Munchlax

@GrailUK It’s Nintendo’s most profitable mobile game, despite the lower install base, because the smaller, more hardcore player base is more likely to drop large amounts of money on micro transactions. Mario mobile games have more players, but most are unlikely to spend more than £5 on the game, whereas many Heroes players have spent hundreds on the the Gachapon mechanics.

Re: Sonic The Hedgehog Voice Actor Announces His Departure From The Role

I saw a rumour the other day about how the 2021 Sonic game Is internally called “Sonic Rose”, would feature Lost World style gameplay, and Amy would be A secondary playable character.. There wasn’t any real reason to believe it, and I still don’t think there was any hard evidence, but it did also mention that the game would replace the voice cast, so I guess this gives it a tiny bit more credibility. Still not convinced though.
