Nintendo has shared an updated list of Europe's most-downloaded Switch eShop games, revealing which titles were the most popular during June 2021.
Taking top spot this time around is Nintendo's quirky game creator tool, Game Builder Garage; the game didn't receive a physical release in Europe, perhaps helping it to climb this digital-only chart as buyers took to the eShop.
Interestingly, Mario Golf: Super Rush has debuted in third spot, not managing to beat Minecraft's monthly digital sales. Of course, Mario's latest sports title only arrived on the 25th of the month, and it's already gobbled up number ones in the physical charts across the UK and Japan.
You can check out the full list below. It's based on the number of Nintendo eShop downloads (so no physical sales) in European territories during the whole month:
- Game Builder Garage
- Minecraft
- Mario Golf: Super Rush
- Miitopia
- Among Us
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Stardew Valley
- Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
- Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- Pokémon Sword
- Super Mario Party
- Subnautica
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
- Cuphead
Did you download any of these titles on Switch last month? Any surprises in the top 15? Tell us below.

Pokémon Sword at 11 let’s go!
Cuphead is unexpected, did they reveal DLC info or something?
This is why you don't see any big AAA ports on Switch, they don't sell.
But it´s good to see Subnautica on the list. That´s a high quality Indie.
A lot of old games here, speaks volumes that Nintendo has not offered anything great lately besides Mario Golf. And doesn't everyone have Minecraft at this point?
kazuya in smash feels ultra af
Very good start to Game Builder Garage, though being a digital-only in Europe sorta necessitates strong digital sales.
@YoungLink64 what about MH Rise, that doesn't run badly at all for a handheld Monster Hunter and yet that isn't in the top 15 and games like miitopia and Mario Kart 8 make it month after month.
Majority of Switch owners only buy Nintendo exclusives.
@Screen Cuphead went on sale. I think $14.99. First time it had been on sale in a while.
Why Nintendo Switch owners buy Minecraft?! I can't understand it... I'm a Switch owner too, but I will never buy Minecraft.
@Falk_Sturmfels not really an indie….Bandai/Namco is a pretty big name, no? But yeah, good to see it up there. I picked it up on Amazon for $10 off. Good games.
@Vyacheslav333 play it on the go?
@rockodoodle Nope. I see Minecraft on second place EVERY MONTH, since I have Nintendo Switch(I have it since december of 2020). It's really pisses me off. I never see Minecraft on a discount. Also, Minecraft is expansive. And I think, Minecraft is overrated.
@Dman10 I see we're ignoring that spots one, two and four are all new first party switch games that released in the last month? How has nintendo not offered anything great lately?
@Chowdaire #2 is Minecraft, not released in last month. I did mention Mario Golf. And let's be honest, if the 1st or 3rd party releases were stronger, the games you mention wouldn't even make this list in the first place.
@Dman10 my mistake; one, THREE, and four are Nintendo. Oh no, how embarrassing... doesn't change the fact that the last three games nintendo released occupy three of the top four. Mario golf would have been number one if it had launched earlier in the month with game builder at two. Miitopia is niche and a month old and still managed to secure #4, but ok. Also, complaining about minecraft at this point is ridiculous, that's like complaining about GTA 5. Are first party Sony games bad because they continually get beat by a ten year old game? No, it's just that minecraft and GTA are monstrous evergreens.
@Vyacheslav333 Minecraft is very popular with kids, also the Nintendo Switch
Basically the same list each week
@hyperballad
I mean it is popular on all platforms but let’s act like kids are the reason
