During the first-ever WitcherCon, CD Project Red announced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition would be receiving some free DLC inspired by The Witcher series on Netflix.
And yes, they'll be released for every version of the game including the Switch version. More details will be shared soon.
Once again, this upcoming DLC will be totally free - so we'll share more details when they are revealed. Season two of The Witcher on Netflix has also been locked in for 17th December. Here's the teaser trailer:

Any reason to replay The Witcher 3 is a good enough reason for me!
It looks good just like season 1. The only thing I did not like is
the casting of Yennefer but that is just me.
I'm still trying to get into this game. Its world is amazing and its writing is great, but its combat and gameplay loop aren't grabbing me. Kinda bummed I paid full price for it, I was hoping it'd give me the "adventure feel" that BotW and RDR2 give me.
Still haven't played this. Should really give it a try.
@Chris77 if you have the chance, do play this game. My second most played game on my Switch after BOTW - and there is a good reason for it!
Never had the patient nor the the time to play this game more the 5 hours, and this irritating me because it seem one of the best game ever made. This is a game you cannot lay down and co tinue after two or three weeks. It has complex game controll and mechanics, wich at my age is difficult to puckup easy.
So i focused on the netflix series to see what its all about, and i can understand why people realy love the world of the witcher. It was with no doubt the best series i watched last year on netflix.
I realy like the pace and build between episodes always ending after two episodes in some epic battle in a awesome setting.
Looking forward for season 2, even though i probably will never finish the game, due to work and family responsibilities.
I have been meaning to get this for ages! Hopefully they do a new physical edition with the new DLC.
I hope they incorporate the DLC into a software update (so it can be backed up and not require an online connection if playing on a secondary console), which is how it should ALWAYS be with free additional content.
@Zuljaras You and a lot of Polish people. Is that what cultural appropriation feels like? ;P
@charlieonholiday
Once i will find time to play this game, it bothers me that it is highly praised by so many gamers, but i just can't get into it because i simy do not have much time for myself.
You remind me of myself, convincing people to play the mass effect series and try to get past the first 2 hours on the citadel to get i to it but know i understand you actualy need enough time for yourself to do so.
@SmaggTheSmug Maybe I just don't like the actress. The games may have something to do with it!
On the other hand I liked that they changed the race of Hector in the Castlevania Netflix series. The game one was looking ridiculous
@Zuljaras
You think so?
I found her caracter well played.
@PALversusNTSC I know I could never have played Witcher on anything but a Switch.
With family, job and all of that, the only way to play Switcher was on the go. Tied to a big screen, while yes is a better - I would never have been able to complete it.
@citizenerased I know what you mean. Keep playing, give it some time to find itself, I didn’t really begin to LOVE it until maybe the 3rd major area. But by the end of it all, it’s really an incredible game. You won’t regret it!
Brilliant series and a brilliant game on Switch.
December 17th is just too far away.
@citizenerased bummer. I have over 200 hours into it and have been loving it! I’ve been really taking my time because I don't want it to end.
@charlieonholiday agreed! For me, the switch has been the perfect place for this game!
Heck ya now I can get back if MHS2 doesn't take my hours.
@citizenerased I feel you on that. If you're up for some advice, turn off the mini-map, turn off points of interest, and turn off everything that puts an icon somewhere. If you're feeling really funky, don't even go to the notice boards in the towns - you can find every quest naturally. I also switched the language to Polish and used subtitles because I found it more immersive.
The magical moments of Witcher 3 for me we're almost all stumbling upon things on the way from point A to point B. It does a fairly good job of letting you find quests without being explicitly told. Non critical-path exploration is very rewarding... maybe too much so, as it is very easy to be over-levelled for the main quest without using mods.
For players like you and I, you kind of have to make your own gameplay loop in Witcher 3 to get the most out of it - by default it's a very linear, story-driven RPG - but there is magic there if you're willing to adjust some settings and your mindset.
@charlieonholiday I played on a base PS4 and wish I had played it on Switch - especially after the updates, it doesn't look better enough on PS4 to outweigh the portable benefits. Also the fact that you can share Switch saves with the Steam version.
If the Switch version ever goes as cheap as the PC version, I'd like to try a replay that way. Best of both worlds.
@citizenerased Same here pal.
The combat and movement just felt so sluggish and bulky that I stopped playing.
@charlieonholiday ashamed to say I've had this in the backlog for a long time now. Still in its wrapper.
I’m deeply impressed they still put out free content and patches for the game.
@Chris77 what are you waiting for? Missing out on all the fun this game has to offer. Do yourself a favor and go pick it up if you haven't.
Are they not working on The Witcher IV?
@citizenerased I got it for 8 bucks on steam a few months ago. Haven’t really got into it tho
@Zuljaras i am okay with Yennefer, Triss though 🙄
I would love to play through this again on Switch but I can't justify paying £40 for such an old game.
You can grab the PlayStation or xbox version for less than a tenner and that will give you a free next gen upgrade.
@PALversusNTSC
Give it time. I must have started and quickly abort this game more then 5 times before I fell into this hole. The thing that got me was the Switch version. Certainly not the best looking version but with the on the go playing capabilities of the Switch and long commute times I finally got serious.
With the commuting temporary on hold I’m very glad with the possibility to use my Switch save on my gaming PC.
Like a lot of others on here I just haven’t been able to get into the game. I’ve been absolutely spoiled by the fluidity of Botw, Witcher 3 as many others have mentioned feels a bit stiff,” clunky” as others have referred it to. Mind you, I’ve had the title for some time and I’ve just got to actually trying it so I’m extremely early in the game. The world and lore all sound really cool but in my immediate impression it just feels like a game from 2015. This free DLC is great , hopefully I find my groove with the game as soooo many ppl swear by this game!
Aw this is fantastic news!! I completed the game and only have a few side quests left, so an excuse to dip into this world is just brill!
Counting the days to the second season too.
I thought this was only for the ps5 and Xbox x upgrade of the Witcher! Awesome news to hear it’s been confirmed for switch!
And again props to nlife for getting this kind of information out this quickly
@Rainz
BOTW is a bad comparison because Witcher 3’s direct comparison are all those janky mess western RPGs put out by BioWare and Bethesda which it blows out of the water, Witcher exposed them so hard that to this day zealots of those two devs go into a frothing rage at the mere mention of its name and this goes back to 2011 when Witcher 2 made a further mockery of the abysmal Dragonage 2
The woke TV show isn't for me but I'm down for more dlc especially free that's the best price.
Nice. I am looking forward to the second season of the show.
Pretty much 100%ed this game on Switch.. oh boy, what a treat to get back into if, if only for a moment.
Though it’s hard to tell if we’re getting some actual quests or just costumes and collectibles.
Hopefully the DLC isn't as bad as the show.
@SalvorHardin
Yeah I’m looking forward to fully jumping into Witcher 3. I’m really going on blind as it’s the first entry in the series I’ll be playing. By all accounts it’s sounds like a generational game, the fact it’s STILL getting DLC speaks to that. I’ll have to leave an update once I have a final impression!
I gave this game several chances and just could not get into it, and for me after that cyberpunk unfinished game whenever I see cd project red I just think no way xx
This game requires memorization of controls it's not your Halo game shoot'em up. And if you don't have patience to follow the storyline it will not work for you. I like it still it's the controls and memorizations of them that throws me for a loop every time. Still have to kill the gryphon to get next stage.
I had the original Witcher on Mac and liked it as far as I got, but time and gaps between sessions meant I had zero continuity and wound up deleting it.
As a portable title maybe W3 would be better suited for me but yeah, the clunkiness of western style RPGs these days leaves me cold. Been too spoiled by shiny stuff like BOTW, I guess.
