I'm actually glad this turned out to be "PhonePass" and not really a game with a Nintendo IP on it. It also sounds like this really is just to get some quick cash and not to actually do something serious on smartphones...also fine with me.
And ANOTHER delay huh...I guess they're putting all their work into getting that NX done.
@Quinn_Blackwood I absolutely don't doubt that and I think Amiibo helped Nintendo a lot! My point was more that they a) handled them poorly and b) that they have to understand now that they are a "trend" and won't keep on selling as crazy as they did....especially if they don't slow down...and they don't seem to looking at Animal Crossing.
The Amiibo trend is already over. I know in the US people are still going crazy but elsewhere it's pretty much over. The Amiibo shelfs in Germany are stuffed and even the former "rare" ones are starting to be discounted. My local store has already marked down the Mario Maker SE with Amiibo by 20€. People stopped preordering... 50 Smash Amiibos in a year + all the other stuff was too much. I really really wouldn't count on Amiibo. People will by some special ones (if they do an arwing e.g.) but the craze is basically over.
@leo13 Parents don't watch Nintendo Direct. The people who watch Nintendo Direct already know about the NX. What are they promoting for Christmas outside of Yo-Kai? There is nothing to promote? Do you know what kids want for Christmas...I can tell you: PS4, PS4 and a PS4. I'm always shocked how many people still live in this world were "parents" "kids" and "families" are connected to Nintendo. It's an illusion. Those people are all playing on their smart phones and their PS4.
I actually agree with you that they might not talk about it...but then it's because their ignorant. At this point, with the WS Journal leak, they HAVE TO talk about it asap. I actually think it ruins their Christmas sales not to do it because (and I here this from people everywhere) people say they don't wanna buy anything new Nintendo anymore before they no what exactly their plans for 2016 are.
Next direct will probably have the first mobile game, the new account system and (hopefully?) some news on Zelda. At this point I'm also not sure how much longer they can play their No-NX-before-2016 game....so...the next direct will be really really really interesting!
What we learn here is that we have no idea cause there is no information. But the people who make money on the app store do it by ripping of people and constantly updating their stuff and always stay on top of the situation...that all doesn't sound like Nintendo.
@brandonbwii I actually agree with you. I'm not a GTA fan btw I just don't like this argument that fans are never satisfied. I think Nintendo has been especially bad at understanding what their fans want in the last years. Metroid is a long long time ago though, and I feel there has not really been a good surprise in a while. Also: To me it's important that those surprises come on top of a great structure. Nintendo's philosophy for the last 10-12 years has been: Surprises > quality and out of all their problems that's their biggest one. I'm terrified Nintendo will use Zelda for another one of their experiments rather than a great base structure with their surprises on top of it.
@Mk_II Typical fanboy argument that Nintendo uses too. "Whatever we do we can't make people happy" It's actually not that complicated...other companies get it right, too. GTA5 for example was exactly what you said: Same but different with sprinkles on top. If the rest of the industry gets it done and Nintendo isn't people will be disappointed.
To me this just means it won't be open world. If it was, he wouldn't make these kind of statements. Also: I'm starting to believe that this was the game's problem in the first place...they realized their open world didn't work and now they're backpaddeling. Reminds me a lot of Bioshock Infinite a couple of years ago...
@PlywoodStick To me, going with a loss in console sales is the only way at this point. They can't pretend anymore that PS4 (and Xbox One...) don't exist. Because their beloved families and casual players know that they do! And they buy them.
This is what everybody was expecting and I'm sure it's what the NX is. Especially since the 3DS is so old now and there are not even rumors about a new handheld. I don't believe the whole industry-leading chip thing (might just be industry-leading for that kind of technology) but bring it on, Nintendo. Give us a real Hybrid console for a real price. If it's good people are willing to pay the entry fee. If it's mediocre...no need to even try. PS4 will be 300€/$ at the point this is released.
Bye bye Chibi-Robo. I can only agree with other people here. I loved your GC game. I even enjoyed takibg stupid photos with you on the 3DS...I just wished Nintendo would have taken better care of you
For a while I thought it was an alternative to collecting (I'm not a purist and like the convenience of playing the games on the 3DS/WiiU ) but Nintendo just doesn't care enough. I hate the argument that it doesn't sell enough...it never will if there are hardly any games. Might as well just get those games for a couple of bucks and play them on the GBA.
@derickw69 I actually felt like some of the animation (e.g.the way the girl holds up the shield) a straight out of ALTTP. The might have recreated it very similarly. In a world where we have games like shovel knights I don't really see a need for people doing these kinda semi-stolen Nostalgia things anymore. It's been proven that you can do your own thing and still be oldschool.
Recently I've been seeing Kickstarter projects asking for very little amounts of money. The problem is that they want to make sure that they reach the goal so they get at least something. I'm sure there are a lot of "let's figure the rest out later" talks behind the scenes. It's too bad because Kickstarter is such a great tool in theory.
Let me first say that I actually think they did a really good job with the difficulty in the last couple of games. Mario 3D World I thought, had a really nice ramp-up, and with Yoshi I always saw the challenge in collecting all the stuff more than just running through the levels...and that was not easy at all. In general though, I think this again just shows one of Nintendo's big problems: The make the game for everyone-mentality. It just doesn't work. You have to live with the fact that a game is only for a certain group of people or with the fact that some just won't finish the game and others will be bored right away. I also still don't understand who these super frustrated first-time-players are supposed to be who apparently can't even get Mario onto a Goomba. Cause I know little kids who just started playing Video Games and play much harder games. And when I was a kid I also played Mario for the first time at one point...I just don't understand that point...
I played the game at Gamescom and it's a supermediocre platformer. I don't understand this "last chances" crap Nintendo does all the time. Chibi-Robo is a great character that people like, but this game still won't sell because there is hardly reason to buy it. When I saw the announcement of a new Chibi-Robo game as a headline I though: Wow, this is brilliant. They had practice doing all this stuff on the WiiU with Pikmin and now will have a whole game in this Microworld and we might use the gamepad for a point-of-view thing in some situations....great move Nintendo... Nope...just a mediocre platformer....I just don't get it.
@SetupDisk I actually think that exactly is most people's problem. They think their Level is "hard" when it's almost impossible if you don't know what to do. And often the levels are not as self-explainatory as they think.
@ningeek185 It's not true that the good ones get the good feedbacl. I've played some fantastic Levels with no stars and many many well reviewed crap-levels. The Ranking List is also pretty useless because most people there are let's players with millions of youtube viewers who star their levels. The only really good levels I played so far came from communities like nintendolife...and hardly anyone else had played them.
And yeah, they ridiculously hard ones are another problem. On an 100 Mario Expert walkthrough I skiped 3 levels at once because in all of them I lost a life within the first second
Very good advice here. Although I think part of the point of SMM is that you don't use graph paper. My first level turned out something completely different than what I had planned because it felt differently when I started playing it.
Too late, while I had already downloaded the patch right away I didn't know this and still did the clock thing. XD I was one actually not planing on doing it and thought "Nintendo knows what they are doing here" but the way they are rolling out the tools makes no sense. For event the simplest course ideas I had I needed at least the second and third day for some the last day!
@fromthedale I actually asked at Gamescom yesterday and they told me you can do as many underworlds as you want in one level. I don't know if they were misinformed but that's what they said...it would be really amazing!
@TheAceofMystery I just can't imagine a new direct before they have a new president. Also: Some of these games are out in Europe. Don't think they'll make too much of a big deal about it.

@Xenocity You really need to look up the definition of "selling out". REALLY"

Re: Review: Chibi-Robo!: Zip Lash (3DS)
Too bad they made this an unexciting platformer when they had such a cool concept behind the original Chibi-Robo.
Also: This game will be sooo cheap on ebay cause of all the people just buying it for the Amiibo and selling the game.
