@datamonkey Wow that's weird.. I wish they had used a larger battery capacity for longer battery life. I'm glad the battery life is the same and the charge time is shorter though (the old one lasted so long that charging was almost rare).

Waiting for an all-black design in the future.. heard great things about the Switch 2 Pro Controller.

This is inevitable, as internal storage speeds are becoming faster than those of external storage options currently available. The Switch 2 uses UFS 3.1, which is sufficient and faster than microSD Express.

As others have mentioned, faster SD cards, such as microSD Express, are not available in smaller storage capacities, similar to UFS or SSDs. We cannot use older microSD cards, like those used in the Switch 1 cartridge, as they are slower than UFS 3.1 in terms of speed, performance, and efficiency.

Digital-only future for gaming is very likely.

Here we go again. Modchip =/= piracy. With modchip we can boot custom Horizon OS/CFW, custom themes, offline cheats, save managers and many more. No one can stop us from modifying our own hardware. I'm not defending piracy, screw those who pirate.

By this logic, Nintendo should shut down Atmosphere and Hekate as well. It is very easy for any technical user to enable piracy after that.

Re: Talking Point: Do You Want To See Colourful Cartridges Return For 'Switch 2'?

Unpopular opinion, but I hope that Nintendo will opt for digital only for so called Switch 2. Two benefits that I can think of :

1. By using catridge, we will never be able to use faster storage speed like UFS or SSD, so far we can only use microSD for catridge (correct me if I'm wrong), or proprietary storage like PS Vita (expensive and not practical).

There's no way that Nintendo will use SSD or UFS for internal storage, and much slower speed for catridge. Performance difference would be quite massive. Without faster storage speed, we can only dream of faster processor and bigger RAM as well.

2. Avoid leak from physical catridge dump before official release

@Razzy Our intention to buy isn't relevant - only whether or not we got the product without paying for it, which in this case, the enjoyment and usefulness of the game/media/software. Game developers locked the enjoyment of the game behind a paywall, and if we get to enjoy it without paying, then it feels like stealing from them.

Why should some be forced to pay for a product and others not? If some people have to pay, then everyone should have to pay, else we are unfairly using people as a means to our own ends, which would be immoral.

Why should we get to enjoy the labor of someone else without compensating them for it? We don't need media to survive - it is a pleasure that is enjoyed. Why should someone else have to work to provide us pleasure for free?

That is selfish and unfair.

@Savage_Joe

The sale was never made nor lost because the person was not going to buy the product anyways.

The problem here is the pirate can actually enjoy that product without paying for it. It should be transactional and would benefit both parties, the devs will get the sale, the customer will get to play the game.

People always look at game/software as something different than physical product such as car, phone etc, hence they will think that piracy =/= stealing because it's like copying, the games will still be available unlike physical things. It's simple actually - a product is something transactional and something that would benefit both parties, it could be physical or non-physical. They can say that they are never going to buy that product, but the fact still remain that they can actually enjoy it without permission.

Why do you need evidence for that? It's just common sense. We can't ride and enjoy rollercoaster if we don't pay the entry fee. You might be able to find any loophole to ride rollercoaster for free, but you can't justify it doesn't lead to lost sales, same goes with gaming.

Games, or any form of entertainment are luxury, not necessity. You won't die if you can't afford to buy games.

Luxury- noun

"something adding to pleasure or comfort but not absolutely necessary"

Re: Pokémon Fans Vent Frustrations Online About Scarlet & Violet's Technical Issues

Miu

Is Pokémon Scarlet/Violet poorly optimized ? Definitely. Can/Should we blame GF/TPC? Yep. Do we need hardware revision? Absolutely. These truths can coexist.

We need improvement in storage speed. Current storage speed (eMMC/microSD) isn't enough for future ambitious title with tons of textures. My ideal future storage would be NVMe just like in iPhone.. but I'm fine with the new UFS 4.0 as it's cheaper.. or UFS 3.1.

We might also need more powerful processor (built on 4 - 7 nm process). Hopefully 8 GB RAM (LPDDR5) should be the minimum standard for future model.. 16 GB would be the best.

What Monolithsoft did for Xenoblade 3 was absolutely incredible (the best dev on Switch for me) but I believe we desperately need hardware revision very soon.

Re: Review: Genki Waveform Headphones - The Perfect Audio Solution For Your Switch?

Bluetooth Codec: aptX Adaptive, aptX Voice, aptX, atpX-HD, AAC, SBC

I'm very impressed with their supported codecs.. even some premium TWS only support SBC and AAC. Amazing specs (esp for Android).. well done Genki.

If I buy Genki Waveform Earphone, my ideal setup for dual connection will be connecting 3.5mm jack on Switch to Genki case (to take advantage of aptX Adaptive) and then connecting my Android phone with aptX Adaptive codec as well.

At that price, I'm still waiting for Asus ROG Cetra True Wireless Pro (can change from TWS mode to wired USB-C connection). This Genki TWS is quite revolutionary for me.. lovely article thank you NL.
