I just want the other King of Fighters games now, really, although to be honest I most want some non-Neo Geo arcade games like Double Dragon and Bad Dudes.
This is part of the problem with global markets. If something offends any culture, it gets banned in every culture. A better solution would be to let countries where this is deemed offensive increase the age rating, or ban it completely if they really want to (hypothetically - I know that would be an overreaction here).
Proper 2D Streets of Rage and Golden Axe please! Wonder Boy would also be a good franchise to continue - look at how well-received Dragon's Trap was. Finally, if they could get Landstalker back, that honestly could be a fully-3D rival to Zelda.
@impurekind - I couldn't agree more. I've not seen The Lion King 3D, but pure 2D has so much artistry to it. Not that there's no talent in making 3D models, it's just that pixel art does it for me. I'm currently playing the King of Fighters games, and they're utterly gorgeous.
Wouldn't pay the same price again for this unless it included all the DLC (which isn't out yet, I realise). It's good news, but I really think there should be some sort of cross-buy on the eShop.
Thanks for that. I did have all the hearts, but wasn't 100% sure that I did. One thing's for sure - this does, as you say, set a new standard for retro remakes.
Already got Blazing Star and the voice update for Zelda on Switch. Will get the extra character in Blaster Master Zero later.
Blazing Star is much more accessible than Alpha Mission II (it's hard, but there's no confusion about the power-ups). The pre-rendered graphics really date it, and I actually think Alpha Mission II has nicer sprites. Still good though.
DLC is actually putting me off buying a lot of games nowadays. Sure, most of it's fluff, but some of it should have been included in the original game. If I buy Shadows of Valentia, for instance, and no DLC, will there be anywhere I can grind EXP? It may not have been in the NES original, but it should be standard in a remake.
@nab1 - Absolutely. I'm hoping for some CPS games from Capcom - Final Fight especially - plus some System 16 and System 32 games from Sega, particularly the two Golden Axe titles.
These are brilliant games. I know people are waiting for NES and SNES, but these are just as good, if not better. Everything I've played so far improves the more you play it, and the more skilled you become at it.
Incidentally, I've found the Joy-con's d-pad fine for most of the games, but not the vs. fighters. It can do diagonals, but it's hard to roll a movement that includes a diagonal.
But anyway, keep the arcade games coming, and please can we have Double Dragon?
I would be quite keen on Ultra Street Fighter II, but it's a shame the Joy-con's d-pad is so poor. It's much harder to roll in a half- or quarter circle than a normal d-pad.
Some of the others are tempting, but a bit pricey. I'm hoping the Arcade Archives titles keep coming, as many of them are good value and great fun.
It's a bit curious. I thought this game had received widespread critical acclaim and, personally, I'd much rather play this on Switch than Wii U.
I hope Nintendo isn't being as picky with coin-ops ported to Switch, as I'm hoping for more of the Arcade Archives titles, and not just the Neo Geo ones.
Tantalus did a really good job with Twilight Princess HD. The finished product looked so much better than the screenshots suggested. I'd actually love to play it on Switch.
They are pretty wholesome, to be honest. They don't even have any nudity (going by Senran Kagura Burst). It seems to be a breast fixation thing rather than anything genuinely sexual.
It was good to see Blazing Star, and most of the 3DS releases look interesting. I'm not going to complain about anything related to retail games, because they will be at E3. However, it was slightly disappointing to not have more for the eShop. I'd love some more arcade games, not just the Neo Geo ones, and Virtual Console would be welcome too. If nothing else, it'd be nice to update our Wii U SNES purchases, and have them sitting on our Switches.
I'm not expecting any unknown retail games, but I really hope there are some eShop releases tonight, especially SNES VC and the Technos coin-ops from Arcade Archives.
I would be most likely to play Mario Maker or Star Fox, neither of which I bothered with on Wii U. It would be quite nice to have Wind Waker HD as well.
It would also be a good opportunity to uncensor Project Zero, Xenoblade Chronicles X and (especially) Tokyo Mirage Sessions. They could restore it to Atlus' original vision, and remove the silly stuff like the trousers, which were even in the final Japanese release.
Not saying I'd actually buy any of those, to be honest, but they do represent opportunities of one kind or another.
I'd never played an open world game before Breath of the Wild and, honestly, it's put me off them. It seems to me that they feature game worlds that are huge for the sake of being huge, rather than built to be an appropriate size for their features. For the next Zelda, Nintendo should make a set of good dungeons, bosses and locations, and then think how big a game world they need to fit them in, rather than make an enormous map and struggle to fill in the gaps.
I would also remove breakable weapons, cooking and crafting items, because it slows the pace down too much.
I didn't pay much attention to Neo Geo on Wii, as they were the compromised regional versions of the time. However, I can't resist these genuine MVS (coin-op) releases.
Super Mario Odyssey and Dragon Quest XI for me (not that I think the latter will be out this year in Europe), with "possibles" for Ultra Street Fighter II, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Skyrim. I still love my Switch though, and am looking forward to some of the eShop games just as much.
Not wanting to interfere, but these are the ways I find them. None of them need campfires, and all of them can be found by sleeping until night, then rushing to the locations:
Dinraal - Warp to the Gorae Torr shrine on Gut Check Rock. Then run west and wait on the Eldin Leviathan bones.
Naydra - Warp to the Jitan Sa'mi shrine on Mount Lanayru. Glide west all the way to the base of the mountain and wait on the Lanaryu Road East Gate.
Farosh - Warp to Lake Tower and glide down to the southern end of Hylia Bridge. Wait atop the small tower there and the dragon will fly right past you.
There's definitely more awareness of Switch than Wii U. In that regard, Zelda, Mario Kart and Splatoon may well be enough until Mario Odyssey is released, as relatively few people will have experience of those as Wii U games. I'd say Mario Kart in particular will be a huge indicator of potential success.
Like many others, I'm concerned about the lack of retail games. Nintendo needs to have an exceptionally good E3, so we have reassurance more genuinely big games are on their way; plus keep the eShop stocked with new games.
@Podoboo has hit the nail on the head. It's not that linearity is bad, or that freedom is bad; you just need the right balance between them. The freedom/exploration in Breath of the Wild is massively disproportionate to the main quest. Zelda needs to go back to the older formula, where you had a reasonable idea of which areas were worth exploring, and when it was better just to push on with the main story.
More generally... I think in a year or two people will realise Breath of the Wild, though excellent, just took too much from the open world formula. BotW gave us lots we should keep - like the physics - but Zelda doesn't need all the other trappings like cooking, crafting, limited inventories and breakable weapons.
I don't think Breath of the Wild is accessible, but I do like the fact it's not punishing. I've actually found it very hard to recommend to those who aren't up for an open world game, even if they're Zelda veterans. The reviews did not exaggerate with their 10/10s - it is awesome - but for me, it scores a bit less than that as an overall game.
@ACK - That's a good system actually (censored by default). I'm all in favour of people being able to see what they want (as long as it's legal, of course), but also in favour of offering protection to those who desire it. Nintendo should have implemented this with their recent censorship.
@BoilerBroJoe - I hope so. It would be great to design your own Zelda dungeon, with later additions like Ice Arrows reworked into the 8-bit style. My vote for styles to choose between would be Legend of Zelda, A Link to the Past, Minish Cap and Four Swords GameCube, which I think is the pinnacle of the 2D style.
There's something cool about the Ocarina of Time outfit, and it's not even (quite) my favourite Zelda. I think it's the way the gauntlets balance it out.

Re: Embrace the Giddy Madness of Disgaea 5 Complete With the Demo and Overview Trailer
Very good news. I've no idea about the series, so this could be just the thing.
Re: Video: Street Fighter's Way Of The Hado Is A Hell Made Of Motion Controls
This will add a lot onto the download size and (as has been said) the price. I'd rather they'd just given us a cheaper download of the 2D game.

Re: Preview: Ultra Street Fighter II On Switch Offers Nostalgia In Spades, But New Features Disappoint
This looks gorgeous and I'm grabbed by it, but it's just too pricey at the moment. £20 for digital and I'd be really keen.

Re: Deals: Nintendo Switch - Upcoming Goodies For May And June
@Outspoken - it's an assumption based on King of Fighters '94. I am not judging Ultra Street Fighter II, just the Switch hardware.

Dragon's Trap - relatively expensive, but worth it. The sheer quality of it is joyous.
Re: Review: Metal Slug (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)
@NinChocolate - Yes, that doesn't work at all for me.
Re: Review: Metal Slug (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)
This is definitely better than the 3rd. I actually found that one quite annoying and unappealing, but this one is just about right.
Re: Review: Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap (Switch eShop)
OK, sold! I hope Lizardcube remakes Wonder Boy in Monster World (my favourite) and Monster World IV (which I've never played) as well.
Re: 'Senran Kagura Refure' Game Heading For Nintendo Switch
@Billsama - I'm the same. I never understand how some think it's bad to simulate something legal (sex), but OK to simulate murder and other crime.

I liked the run-up to the Rito Divine Beast most, and the dungeon itself. Runner-up is the way you unlocked the Zora Divine Beast.
